Security Bands are devices used by the Nova Corps to control the security system in the Kyln.
History[]
Escape from the Kyln[]
All of the Nova Corps personnel at the Kyln were outfitted with Security Bands in order to allow them to navigate through the locked gates of the prison. The Head Riot Guard used his band to open up a gate while escorting new prisoners Peter Quill, Gamora, Rocket, and Groot through the Kyln. Rocket took notice of the band, having started to plan his escape immediately upon entering the prison.
Rocket explained his escape plan to his allies, which required obtaining a Security Band from one of the guards, as well as a Quarnyx Battery. Gamora volunteered to retrieve the band, but Groot grabbed the battery first, alerting the guards and forcing the inmates to rush their plan into action. Gamora fought off several guards before coming across the Angry Guard, whom she overpowered, and forcefully removed his Security Band from his arm.
Gamora tossed the band to Rocket, who powered the band by attaching it to the Quarnyx Battery. He used the band to open the door to the control room at the top of the watchtower. He then used the band to gain access to the watchtower controls, shutting off the artificial gravity in the Kyln, detaching the control center from the watchtower, and controlling the Kyln Hoverbots to fly the control center away.[1]
Capabilities[]
- "I'll need this."
"Good luck. It's internally wired."
"I'll figure something out." - âGamora and Angry Guard[src]
Each Security Band is internally wired into the guard's arm and is powered by the wearer's own body, although this can be circumvented with another energy source, such as a Quarnyx Battery. All of the gates in the Kyln can only be controlled by use of one of the Security Bands, as well as the controls in the Kyln's watchtower.
