Quote1 We are the heirs of Archangel, rightful servants of this era! We've returned to claim our throne! Because unlike you...we do not bend our knees. Quote2
—Uriel[src]

Uriel was one of the Apocalypse Twins. Stolen from Clan Akkaba at birth, he and his sister, Eimin, were raised and abused by the fiendish time tyrant Kang the Conqueror.[4][5] In adulthood, they hatched a plan to betray Kang and destroy his empire. They attempted to manipuate the Celestials into destroying the Earth, killing all humans, and also erasing all of Earth's futures while they would save mutantkind on their Ark to bring them to paradise.[6] However, they were outmaneuvered by Kang, his Chronos Corps, and the Avengers Unity Division and were killed.[7]

Uriel as a newborn infant

Origin[]

Uriel and Eimin were born from the union of the Final Horseman Ichisumi and Archangel. The twins were conceived after Archangel's ascension to become the new Apocalypse and the leader of the Clan Akkaba.[8] The much anticipated twins were born in Akkaba City under the North Pole. Although the pair was highly guarded by the Clan Akkaba and the Horsemen, the twins were soon abducted by Kang the Conqueror. Kang took the pair into the timestream with plans to use them for his own purposes.[4]

Kang adopted the twins as his own children and brought them to Earth-13044. There they were raised in concentration camps, constantly fearing recruitment by Ahab to become Hounds.[9]

Age of Ultron[]

During their adolescences, Kang brought the twins from concentration camps to his palace in the year 4145 AD. The twins were then dispatched on a mission to murder Colonel America. However, their mission failed, though the twins did successfully murder Havok and Rogue, the first lives they ever took. As punishment for their failure, the twins were sent back to the concentration camps.[10]

Apocalypse Twins[]

The Twins reappeared in the modern era, when Genocide, son of Apocalypse, contacted a Celestial Gardener. He hoped to receive the Death Seed and replace Apocalypse as Archangel had. As the Gardener judged his worth, Uriel and Eimin appeared. Using the axe Jarnbjorn, Uriel killed the Gardener. Together, he and Eimin defeated Genocide's forces. They then attacked the Peak.[11] They next travelled with Thor and Sunfire to Akkaba City. Seeing how most of Clan Akkaba was depowered, they killed most of them and destroyed the city.[9] The Twins used Life Seeds and Death Seeds harvested from the Gardener to resurrect Sentry, Banshee, Grim Reaper, and Daken as the Four Horsemen of Death.[12]

Ragnarok Now[]

The Twins framed the Earth for the death of the Celestial Gardener so that Exitar the Executioner would arrive to the planet and destroy it.[13] This was part of their vengeance against their father as they wanted to eliminate the Earth and all of its futures, thus erasing Kang's kingdom.[14] Thanks to their Tachyon Dam, neither Kang nor Immortus could travel to the past to stop the Twins.[12][14] The Apocalypse Twins convinced the Scarlet Witch to cast a spell in order to bring every mutant to their Ark to ensure the survival of mutantkind while humanity died with the Earth, so that mutants could live in paradise on Planet X.[15][16]

In a divergent timeline, their plan would have succeeded, but intervention from Kang and his Chronos Corps sent the minds of the Avengers Unity Division back in time, bypassing the Twins' Tachyon Dam, to thwart their plan.[17] In this new timeline, Exitar was killed before he could destroy the Earth and Kang revealed that it was all his plan to gain the power of a Celestial.[18] As Havok was fighting Kang to stop him from stealing the Celestial's power, Sunfire used part of the absorbed energy of the Celestial to destroy the Apocalypse Twins and their Ark. Daken and Grim Reaper, the two remaining Horsemen under the service of the Twins, managed to get back to Earth along with the Twins' corpses.[19]
