History

The being that would become the Inheritor began life as an insect from the species Blaberus archerbea, commonly referred to as the Bladehandle cockroach. It was among the various creatures artificially evolved by the High Evolutionary, who intended for it to be part of his New Men; however, the Inheritor scoffed at serving humanity, as his kind had outlived every other species on Earth, and he saw humans as just another short-lived species. The Evolutionary exiled the Inheritor into space to await his eventual devolving back to his natural form, but a stray meteor struck the craft that contained the Inheritor and it crashed back to Earth, releasing him. With no memory of his origins due to lack of the Evolutionary's radiation treatments, the Inheritor instinctively sought out other sources to sustain his power. He found his way to the Project Greenskin/Hulkbuster Base, where he fed off radioactive energy, restoring his memory. In the process, he encountered and attacked Bruce Banner, who transformed into the Hulk and fought the monster. As the two battled, a machine Banner had been using to drain his own radioactive energies instead drained the Inheritor's, restoring the Inheritor to its original state. Not realizing what the inert insect was, the Hulk threw it aside in search of the Inheritor.[1]
