Gwendolyne Stacy (Earth-9997)

Gwen Stacy was the daughter of prominent NYPD officer George Stacy. Gwen met and fell in love with Peter Parker, unaware that he was the vigilante known as Spider-Man. After Gwen's father was killed in a battle between Spider-Man and one of his foes, Dr. Octopus, both the press and Gwen blamed Spider-Man for her father's death.^[1]

Gwen eventually died herself, when another of Spider-Man's foes, Green Goblin, threw her off a bridge. Spider-Man attempted to save her, but inadvertently killed her when the web line he had fired to stop her fall broke her neck from whiplash. Spider-Man would blame himself for Gwen's death for decades to come, his subsequent marriage to Mary Jane Watson haunted by his guilt over Gwen.^[1]
