History
Notes
- Gayomar was created in Conan of the Isles (October, 1968), written by L. Sprague de Camp and Lin Carter.
- Gayomar possibly also inspired other characters:
- In "Riders Beyond the Sunrise" (Lancer Books; 1967), a King Kull written by Lin Carter using an unfinished fragment by Robert E. Howard, and adapted in Marvel Preview #19 (June, 1979), written by Roy Thomas and penciled by Sal Buscema, Kull's horse is named Gayomart. The relation, if any, is unknown, and the names' resemblance could simply be one of several cases of Howard creating very similar names across his stories.
- Geiomar, "the Last of the First Men" and an agent of Chthon, was possibly inspired by Gayomar, "the first of all men".
