Fritz Bruck was a member of the Nazis active during World War II. By the fall of 1943, he was part of a group of Nazi spies who were active in the United States operating out of Chicago. With war rationing making commodities scarce and expensive, the Nazis decided to use the black market to further their ends. With black market meat becoming a booming business, they begun selling tainted beef in the hopes of lowering American morale and making factory workers ill in order to set back the war effort.
After a family of six died from eating the tainted beef, the Human Torch and Toro decided to investigate. They tracked down the supply of the tainted beef to the slaughter house in which Fritz and his men operated from. When confronting the spies, Fritz set off an explosive and fled to the abandoned train yard where the Nazis brought in their tainted beef.
The Torch and Toro followed Fritz there, and using their flame powers began setting the diseased cattle on fire. The resulting stampede found Fritz and his cohorts trampled to death, while the cattle were incinerated.[1]
