- "Anyway, you get to decide who you wanna be. Not your father. Not your past. You decide. Who are you? The daughter of Thanos, or... You know, I never caught your name."
"My name is Gamora." - ―Tony Stark and Gamora[src]
Gamora was the daughter of Thanos. She shared the history of her Sacred Timeline counterpart up until 2012 when she was sent after Tony Stark, who had fallen through a wormhole to Sakaar following the Battle of New York. Instead, Tony convinced Gamora to become her own person and he aided Gamora in destroying Thanos.

What If...?[]
"What If... Iron Man Crashed into the Grandmaster?"[]
Gamora arrived on Sakaar where she attacked Tony Stark before being subdued by Topaz. Tony quickly engineered a breakout with Korg, but Gamora chased them, explaining that Tony had destroyed Thanos' Chitauri, causing Thanos to send Gamora after him. A furious Tony told Gamora that there had been no glorious victory because people had died and Tony had lost a friend. Tony asked if Gamora knew what it was like to see your home world destroyed, almost brought to its knees by a madman and if she knew about Thanos' plan and what he'd tried to do to humanity. However, realizing how terrible the Grandmaster really was, Tony decided to prove Gamora wrong by saving Sakaar too and then going after Thanos. As Tony and Korge escaped, Gamora was recaptured by Topaz and her forces.
After escaping again, Gamora confronted the Grandmaster and Topaz, demanding Tony Stark from them. When Tony challenged the Grandmaster to a race for the planet, Gamora warned him that it was a trap, and that Tony was a genius on his world. Ignoring her warning, the Grandmaster made a deal with Tony, subdued Gamora again, and forced her into the race as well. Throughout the race, Tony communicated with Gamora, eventually convincing her to break free of Thanos and become her own person. Gamora saved Tony from two of the Grandmaster's creatures, but her car was wrecked as a result.
Following the Grandmaster's defeat, Gamora approached Tony as he left Sakaar, telling Tony that she couldn't return to her father without him. Gamora subsequently took Tony back to Thanos, ostensibly as her prisoner. Thanos congratulated Gamora on her victory, and got Tony's superhero name of Iron Man correct, unlike everyone else that he'd encountered so far. Tony and Gamora revealed that they had actually teamed up together and, as Gamora leapt at her father, Tony threw her Topaz's staff which Gamora used to destroy Thanos.
