The Reclusiff is an enemy from Mario & Luigi: Brothership. They are robots encountered in the Soli-Tree as guards.
Description[]
Reclusiffs have a white head with black screens for faces showing their eyes, one of which is yellow and the other blue not unlike Reclusa's eyes. The head has an antenna that resembles a bomb fuse, but is probably meant to evoke the appearance of a severed cable. The body resembles a flying saucer with the disk being purple with red knobs.
Behaviour[]
Reclusiffs fly at intruders into their territory in the field.
Combat[]
Reclusiffs cannot be harmed by ground-based weaponry due to their ability to fly. A Reclusiff can fly above the Bros. three times, dropping fireballs which the Bros. must use their hammers to repel. After the third pass, it will dive down onto a Bro., with its divebomb attack having to be countered via hammer. A Reclusiff that flies off to the left will perform a divebomb at Mario, while one that flies off to the right will hit Luigi. Another possible attack is a ramming attack, which can be chained on the same turn unless the Bros. stomp on the Reclusiff, though the number of ramming attacks chained together is up to five. The target is determined by the Reclusiff's flight pattern prior to the attack, with a counterclockwise flight path indicating that Mario is the target; if the Reclusiff flies clockwise, Luigi will be attacked.
A Reclusiff can fly above one of its allies and fire an energy sphere at them, healing them by 200 hit points and giving them a power boost. If the Reclusiff's ally is at full health already, it just gets a boost to its power.
Seedlusas and Weeping Troopers can aid Reclusiffs.
Statistics[]
The Reclusiff is a Level 43 monster with 1038 hit points, an attack power of 243, a defense of 223, and a speed of 25. When slain, it drops 138 Coins, 980 Experience Points, and possibly an Ultra Mushroom.
Behind the Scenes[]
Etymology[]
The name "Reclusiff" comes from the term "reclusive."
Nomenclature[]
In Japanese, the Reclusiff is called Bocchīno (written ボッチーノ), from Reclusa's name merged with Italian diminutive suffix -ino. In Chinese, it is referred to as Dúgūnuò (written 独孤诺), derived from Reclusa's Chinese name Dúgū Yàní (written 独孤亚霓). Its Spanish name, Ysoldado, comes from Ysoleth (Reclusa's Spanish name) and soldado ("soldier," "trooper"). Korean refers to it as Torichino (written 토리치노), a calque of its Japanese name derived from Reclusa's Korean name Wetorikeu (written 외토리크) and the Italian diminutive suffix -ino.
