Bunbuns are a bee-like enemy yielding spears. They first appear in Super Mario Land.
In Super Mario Land[]
Bunbuns are only encountered in one level, World 1-2. They drop their spears when they come close to Mario. Jumping or shooting a superball defeats them, earning the player 800 points. Interestingly, they turn into skeletons as a result of being stomped upon. Some Bunbuns appear at high altitudes, which results in Mario being unable to defeat them.
