Lightgazer is the Benevodon of Light. It appears as a boss in Trials of Mana, as a Summon in Heroes of Mana and as a NPC in Children of Mana. Lightgazer takes the form of a multi-colored cloud with a single eye. It is sentient and able to converse with humans, although it is only seen doing so once in Children of Mana.
Trials of Mana[]
Background[]
Lightgazer was described as being an "incarnation of disaster" that existed before the world had been fully born. It wrought destruction on existence until the Goddess of Mana defeated it with the Sword of Mana and sealed it away inside the Mana Stone of Light.
Release[]
When the villains in Trials of Mana obtain the Sword of Mana, they release the Benevodons from the Mana Stones. Once released, Lightgazer remains near the former location of the Light Mana Stone in the Shimmering Ruins in order to build its strength in preparation for wreaking havoc across the land. As a result, the Benevodon becomes stronger depending on how many of its brethren the heroes have defeated before they challenge it.
Battle[]
After the heroes make their way through the Shimmering Ruins, Lightgazer materializes and attacks them. The Benevodon has a tendency to dematerialize if attacked, rendering it invulnerable until it finishes rematerializing. It can also make use of the Heal Light spell to restore its own HP.
As a Light-elemental creature, Lightgazer is weak to Darkness-based attacks and magic. It is also healed by Light-based attacks and magic.
