Alexander Leland Cayne, also known as Jack and Leland Alexander, is one of the two secondary antagonists (alongside Arthur Edwards) of the Hitman videogame series, serving as the unseen overarching antagonist of Hitman: Contracts, the main antagonist of Hitman: Blood Money and a posthumous antagonist in its following installments.
He is the former Director of the FBI and secretly the leader of the Franchise, an illegal contract killing agency and one wing of the Alpha Zerox secret society. Originally, he served as the narrator of this story but later revealed his true nature and intention by the final mission.
He was voiced by Roger L. Jackson.
What Makes Him Magnificent?[]
- Made a living of his life as a FBI agent, and managed to become wealthy enough to retire.
- Found out that Otto Wolfgang Ort-Meyer had a secret cloning facility beneath the asylum and attempted to retrieve it for his own purposes.
- Throughout the entire game, he comes up with fabrications for the journalist, Rick Henderson based around 47's assassinations, twisting the facts to make 47 seem like the villain and Cayne himself to just be a guy who happened to hear about the stories.
- Managed to have Mark Parchezzi lll critically wound and almost kill 47, a feat that no other villain had come close to at this point in the series.
- He then almost had 47 arrested by Albert Fournier after 47 recovered from his near death experience.
- Had vice-president Spaulding Burke die in a car accident so he could have Daniel Morris as vice-president instead.
- Attempted to assassinate the president of the United States in order to corner the clone marketing and develop assassin clones for his own benefit.
- He also intended to have Morris as the president in order to get away with all his crimes.
- Had Diana "betray" the ICA to join the Franchise instead and has her kill 47, until it turned out she didn't kill him but just temporarily killed him with poison.
- Once he had 47 in captivity, he intended to use his DNA to create assassins of his own to kill the whole ICA with in order to get rid of his competition and reign supreme.
- He is quite sophisticated and fancy and also has some moments of affability with the reporter Rick Henderson, at some point apologizing for yelling due to his current state and congratulating Diana for seemingly killing 47, telling her he trusts her.
- Overall, Leland Cayne counts for being a charming mastermind who successfully manipulated the reporter into believing his fabrications, and he and Arthur Edwards are the only Hitman antagonists who came extremely close to killing 47 and winning.
What Makes Him a Baddie?[]
- He is the leader of the Franchise, an evil organization filled with assassins, and was planning on assassinating numerous people, including the ICA itself.
- Lied to Henderson about 47 being responsible for the attempted assassination of Jimmy Macklin, basically making him guilty of slander and also attempted framing as Cayne was the one who hired the Crows to assassinate Macklin.
- Had the vice-president murdered and attempted to have the president murdered so he could replace them with a Franchise assassin in order to get away with all his crimes and maximize his power.
