Adar is the secondary antagonist of the Amazon television series, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power.

He was the high-ranking Mordor commander of Sauron's army and one of the enemies of Galadriel, the protagonist of the series.

He was portrayed by Joseph Mawle in Season 1 and will be portrayed by Sam Hazeldine in Season 2.

What Makes Him Magnificent?[]

  • He is an honorable warrior and prefers to fight without cheating or deception.
  • He plotted to usurp his cruel masters once he would achieve invincibility and gain a proper moment to betray them.
  • He overthrew Sauron for frequently sacrificing the orcs and took over his army, proving to be a better leader to them as he is legitimately kind to them.
  • He is genuinely tragic as he was enslaved by Sauron and wanted to protect his kind.

What Makes Him a Baddie?[]

  • He has committed multiple war crimes, such as the slaughtering of innocents, the assisted conquering of multiple areas and the attempted destruction of Ostirith.
  • He controls multiple slave camps on the territories of Mordor and humiliates the enslaved individuals.
  • He made his servant Waldreg cause the volcanic destruction of Tirhaad, killing hundreds if not thousands of innocents for little valid reason.

Trivia[]

  • Adar was ironically initially suspected to be Sauron by fans before he was revealed to be taking the form of Halberd, though his resentment from being addressed as such put rest to such assumption.
