Deutsch: „Unter silbernem (weißem) Schildhaupt, darin ein roter Wechselzinnenbalken, in Grün ein silberner Schrägwellenbalken, begleitet oben von einem silbernem (weißem) Kammrad unten von einer silbernen (weißen) Sichel. Im Oberwappen ein dreitürmige silberne (weiße) Mauerkrone mit geschlossenem schwarzen Tor.“ Der Wechselzinnenbalken erinnert an das älteste Wappen des Herzogtum Bergs. Der Wellenbalken steht für die Itter, die Sichel für die Landwirtschaft und das Kammrad für die Industrie. Das ursprüngliche Wappen von 1900 (jpg-Entwurf) wurde 1950 von Wolfgang Pagenstecher (ohne Mauerkrone) geändert.
English: „Below a chief Argent, therein a fess embattled gules, vert, a bend wavy Argent below a sickle Argent and above a cog wheel Argent. In the crest a mural crown Argent with a closed gate sable and three towers.“ The arms were granted on April 2, 1900. The city does not have old historical arms. It belonged to Haan and the only seal of Haan and Hilden shows the patron saint. The upper part of the arms show the oldest arms of the counts of Berg, which was later replaced by the, more often used, lion (see the county arms). The lower part is based on the arms of the Prussian Rhine Province (see the state arms), but the river here is the Itter. The sickle and cog wheel symbolise agriculture and industry.
