Battling Kai

He, along with Kai and Allegra, challenged Ash and his friends to a battle. He went up against Ash using his Torterra, while Ash used his Pikachu, who made a folly by commanding a Thunderbolt on Maury's Torterra—likely not realizing it is Grass/Ground—and then switched to Iron Tail.

Maury was later invited by Baron Alberto to help fight off Darkrai.

During the ending credits, Maury participated in the Alamos Town Pokémon Contest, where he was subsequently defeated by Kai in the Battle Stage. He is not onstage when Allegra receives her winning Ribbon.

Maury made a cameo appearance in I Choose You!, which is set in a continuity separate from Pokémon the Series. He was seen with his Torterra in Alamos Town.

Maury's only known Pokémon is a Torterra. It first appeared when Ash ran into it while running. It was used to battle Pikachu and due to the fact it was part Ground type, was immune to Pikachu's Thunderbolt, but took a hard hit from Iron Tail. Later, it was used to battle Darkrai and helped slow down Alamos Town's disintegration.

Torterra briefly reappeared in I Choose You!, which is set in a continuity separate from Pokémon the Series.

Torterra's known moves are Seed Bomb, Bullet Seed, and Solar Beam.
