Iyuno is a production company and recording studio that produces English dubs of Pokémon animation through their office in Burbank, California. This company is a result of the 2021 merger between Iyuno Media Group and SDI Media, which went under the name Iyuno-SDI Group until the company rebranded to Iyuno on October 26, 2022.
History
Prior to the merger, SDI Media had acquired and built dubbing studios around the world,[1][2][3][4][5] and had worked on the English dub of Pokémon Origins. By Pokémon: Black & White, dubs SDI were working on included the French, Swedish, Dutch, Norwegian, Danish, Finnish, Polish, German, Czech, Russian, Latin American Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Italian, Castilian Spanish, and European Portuguese dubs. In addition, the French dubs of PokéPark Wii: Pikachu's Adventure and PokéPark 2: Wonders Beyond were recorded at SDI Media Belgium. SDI briefly departed from the Latin American Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese series dubs after Pokémon the Series: XY Kalos Quest, but returned to them starting with Pokémon Journeys: The Series. Some time later, SDI started producing the Turkish, Arabic, and Hebrew series dubs as well.
Meanwhile, Iyuno had been dubbing Pokémon animation in English since Enter Pikachu!, following DuArt Media Services' departure. In 2023, Iyuno became the first dubbing studio to produce unionized English dubs of the Pokémon franchise, with Pokémon Horizons: The Series and Pokémon Concierge being dubbed with a SAG-AFTRA contract.
As Pokémon the Series was initially recorded from both Burbank and New York City, Iyuno worked with the New York-based studio Goldcrest Post to allow for voice actors from both cities to send in their lines. Pokémon Horizons: the Series would later add dubbing studio Okratron 5000 as a satellite recording studio for talent from Dallas, Texas as well. The two studios would work with Iyuno on the show until The SOS is from Tandemaus?, when Iyuno took over remote dubbing entirely.
