Curious Tea Party (Japanese: 謎解きティーパーティー Mystery-Solving Tea Party) was a costume event in Pokémon Masters EX. It was focused on the sync pairs Lillie (Special Costume) & Polteageist, Sonia (Special Costume) & Tsareena, Ingo (Special Costume) & Accelgor, and Emmet (Special Costume) & Escavalier.

This event featured a main storyline—Curious Tea Party—which featured all four sync pairs, and sub-story areas—Party Prep stories—for each of the featured sync pairs.

Curious Tea Party was contained in a separate event menu from the Party Prep stories, consisting of several story areas. It also contained two Battle Challenges, where players were challenged to defeat a team of strong opponents. Players could complete event missions by clearing these areas with teams using various theme skills, earning medals and other rewards.

In the Party Prep stories, players could earn vouchers from battles that could be redeemed in the shop. All battles could be challenged an unlimited number of times except Daily Extreme Battles, which could only be challenged once per day. Extra vouchers were automatically exchanged with coins once the event was finished.

The Party Prep stories also featured special riddle missions. Within an event story area, a character presented another character with a riddle, which the player would have to answer. The player could give their answer by completing a certain battle using sync pairs with specific theme skills. Answering the riddle correctly would unlock the storyline's final story area, in which the character gave the same answer.

First run

The event first ran from March 31 to May 4, 2022. The "Lillie Costume Scout" gave players an increased chance of recruiting Lillie (Special Costume) & Polteageist for the duration of the event. The "Sonia Costume Scout" gave players an increased chance of recruiting Sonia (Special Costume) & Tsareena starting on April 7, 2022, and lasting until the end of the event. The "Ingo Costume Scout" gave players an increased chance of recruiting Ingo (Special Costume) & Accelgor starting on April 14, 2022, and lasting until the end of the event. The "Emmet Costume Scout" gave players an increased chance of recruiting Emmet (Special Costume) & Escavalier starting on April 21, 2022, and lasting until the end of the event.

During this run, there were four different Party Prep stories available: Lillie's Party Prep—An Eye for Beauty, Sonia's Party Prep—The Finest Tea, Ingo's Party Prep—Way of the Butler, and Emmet's Party Prep—Heart and Soul. Each Party Prep story could be unlocked using a Story Key, which could be obtained by completing story areas in Curious Tea Party. Two of the Curious Tea Party story areas were available at the start of the event, and a new story area was added each week until all five story areas had been added. The Party Prep stories could be unlocked in any order. Extra Story Keys were automatically exchanged with coins once the event was finished.

The Battle Challenge areas were also added over the course of the event. The first two areas, Cress's Battle Challenge! Round 1 and Cress's Battle Challenge! Round 2, became available on April 7, 2022. The second two areas, Cilan's Battle Challenge! Round 1 and Cilan's Battle Challenge! Round 2, became available on April 21, 2022.

Second run

The event reran from April 22 to May 8, 2023. The "Super Spotlight Costume Scout" gave players an increased chance of recruiting Lillie (Special Costume) & Polteageist, Sonia (Special Costume) & Tsareena, Ingo (Special Costume) & Accelgor, and Emmet (Special Costume) & Escavalier for the duration of the event.

During this run, all the Party Prep stories were combined into one event menu, called Solving Wonderful Mysteries. Story Keys were no longer needed to unlock them, and as such were no longer available from completing story areas in Curious Tea Party. All story areas in Curious Tea Party were available from the start, and thus the whole main storyline could be played through without interruption. In addition, the Battle Challenge areas were available from the start.

Ingo	We shall be conducting today’s event. Allow us to transport you all to a dazzling world of curious conundrums!
Emmet	I’m afraid there’ll be no exit available once we’ve begun! The puzzles awaiting you are difficult ones, so prepare yourselves!

Cilan	Yes, we're quite confident in our knowledge of tea. I select only the best tea leaves... Cress prepares the purest water... And then Chili pours the water after heating it to just the perfect temperature. We believe that the tea we make this way is the best in all of Unova... No, in the whole world!
Lillie	Wow, you all must really love tea! I do, too!
Cress	Then I'm sure we'll get along splendidly. We're still quite new to Pasio, so we'd appreciate any good tea shop recommendations. And personally, I'm very interested in that Polteageist. Might it be an Antique Form Polteageist?
Lillie	Yes, apparently! People often tell me it's rare. This Pokémon doesn't live in the Alola region, so I don't really know much about it...
Chili	Well, good tea doesn't get its quality from the teapot. The most important thing for both tea and Pokémon is putting your heart into it!
Lillie	Oh, yes! I totally agree!

When Litwick entered the darkness, its flame started burning brightly.

When the swimmer entered the darkness, he immediately started freaking out.
Swimmer	I can't see anything at all! It's so dark, it doesn't even matter if I'm wearing a swimsuit or not! For all you know right now, I might be wearing shorts like a youngster or a miniskirt like a lass! What's the point of being a swimmer anyway?! Am I...no more than my swimsuit?! Uwaaahhh!!!
The swimmer sprinted back out of the cave with incredible speed.

Darach	This is the Fox Pokémon Braixen. When the twig is plucked from its tail, friction sets the twig alight. It's said that this flame is used to send signals to Braixen's allies. Would you like to choose this Pokémon?

When Braixen entered the darkness, it pulled the twig from its tail and set it alight.

The splash put out the flame on Braixen's twig! <player> and Lillie had no choice but to turn back...

Emmet	We've also just gotten new partner Pokémon, so we're hoping to deepen our bonds with them through this event as well. Our partner Pokémon are Escavalier and Accelgor. These special Pokémon can only evolve when Karrablast and Shelmet are brought together. That's exactly why Ingo and I have raised them together!
