Room Leader?

I'm reading through a text dump from Crystal Version, and there's a reference to "room leaders" and an "HONOR ROLL". It sounds like this was a Mobile Adapter-related feature. Can anyone more familiar with the Japanese version of Crystal confirm this? For reference, the text is:

"If you defeat the seven in a ROOM, and you have a good record, you could become the ROOM's LEADER. All LEADERS will be recorded in the HONOR ROLL for posterity."

"Received a list of LEADERS on the HONOR ROLL."

"{A1}, with your results, you may be chosen as a ROOM LEADER."

  • {A1} is a markup for where the game fills in the player's name

"Would you like to register your record with the CENTER?"

"Check the LEADER HONOR ROLL?"

"Your session will be SAVED before connecting with the CENTER."

"We have your previous record on file. Would you like to register it at the CENTER?"

"Sorry, but it's not possible to register your current record at the CENTER because too much time has elapsed since the start of your challenge.

"Sorry, but it's not possible to register your most recent record at the CENTER because too much time has elapsed since the start of your challenge."

And from what would probably have been a random NPC: "I'm never giving up until I become a LEADER!"

From what I can gather from this text alone, getting a good enough record and uploading it to the mobile network would allow you to become a Room Leader, presumably meaning that your team would be copied and players in other games would be able to download "you" as a sort of proto-Tower Tycoon to fight at the end of a challenge or something like that (everything in that sentence past "allow you to become a Room Leader" is pure speculation, mind). The Honor Roll seems to be a record of everyone who's ever been chosen as a Room Leader; probably, you didn't necessarily remain a Room Leader forever (that part is speculation once again), and the Honor Roll would have been both a bragging-rights reward and proof that you were once a leader.

If this actually was a feature implemented in the Japanese version of the game (can anyone confirm this?), should it be added to the article?

(I found the text dump here: [1]. It's also linked on the article on the Gold and Silver beta.)

I think I found something. While I was looking for old Pokemon editors, I came across this old site that had information on the Mobile System features:

http://web.archive.org/web/20010428105318/pgz.pgamers.com/games/pokemoncrystal/battletower.shtml

According to the site, you could challenge the Battle Tower up to five times per day by connecting with the Nintendo server with the Mobile System GB. After becoming the "Champion" (don't know if you just have to clear a streak or win consistently), your team would be registered in the server. So, it's a precursor to the Wi-Fi section of Generation IV's Battle Tower.

I was skeptical at first, but the text dump seems to back the info up. MagicBarrier 18:38, 31 July 2010 (UTC)

Japanese version mysteries

The Japanese version of Crystal is still full of mysteries. I've got all 16 Badges in my Japanese Crystal and I STILL can't access Battle Tower. Why is it so? Does it have something to do with Mobile Adapter system? Also, that Room Leader thing mentioned above. We need a really big research on this. We must find someone (preferrably Japanese) who is familliar with that and knows more. --Maxim 20:33, 12 February 2011 (UTC)

Mobile System ended in 2002.Battle tower can't use without Mobile System. So we can't play it.--User:2P 22:57, 14 August 2011 (UTC)
If this is the section to discuss the possible splitting of the article, then I agree with it. The Battle Tower in the Japanese version of Crystal seems to require the Mobile Adapter GB to unlock it and the differences between the Crystal Battle Tower and the HGSS Battle Tower are various (the Battle Tower in HGSS is basically the same one from Platinum, after all). Split

I think this article should be changed to Battle Tower (Generation II), and have Battle Tower (Geneation IV) for Sinnoh's and Johto's Battle Tower in Gen IV since they are the same. ZMT123 15:35, 25 March 2012 (UTC)

Was this really suggested so long ago? And nothing's happened with it? *sigh* With the way this page is currently structured, it really should be "Battle Tower (Generation II)", and the Battle Tower (Sinnoh) article should be "Generation IV" instead of "Sinnoh". Please speak up if you agree. Tiddlywinks (talk) 03:59, 10 December 2013 (UTC)
