Candy Corn Zip Cases...

I am attending a Quilters Halloween Party

Won't this zip case make a great

Trick or Treat for the Quilters !

First I found the Candy Corn beads

and made some zipper pulls...

Then I found the Candy Corn fabric...

I stitched together enough zip cases

for all of the Quilters...

You guessed it...

I plan to fill them with Candy Corn !

I have been on a zip case stitch-a-thon lately...

not sure how long it will last ?

Each morning we are greeted by these beauties...

They are always glad to see us...

and the hay we bring them.

We are weaning their calves this weekend

and they won't like that very much.

Zip Cases...Vintage Campers

I found this Vintage Camper fabric

at Hobby Lobby this summer...

I am making zip cases...

I cut it into 7 x 10 inch rectangles.

I ironed it onto Pellon Fusible Foam

and rounded up a few zippers...

The zippers are cut to length

and I added zipper tabs at both ends...

This is the completed zip case:

Vintage Camper Zip Case

The cut off ends of the zippers

make great handles...

This dahlia is one of the last

from the flowerbeds.

All of the prep work is done...

when I get a few minutes to myself

I can run into the Thread Shed and

stitch together a zip case or two.

Reflections of Autumn...

I began cutting and piecing this

Reflections of Autumn

quilt November of 2022

10 months later...it's on our bed !

Just in time for autumn...

This 10 inch wide leaf border is the

reason I fell in love with this fabric line

and created this quilt...

I mitered the corners on the border

and it turns the corner flawlessly...

Close-Up view of the quilting...

Glad this one is done just in time

to enjoy it this autumn.

Summer left us very quickly this year.

We have had 4 inches of rain in 4 days...

The downpour of rain was hard on all of

the flowers.  We began cleaning out all

of the flower beds yesterday

to put them to bed for the winter.

We are weaning calves this weekend,

so we will spend today getting

the barn ready for the calves.

Little House Table Runners...

I meet with my local quilt group

on Mondays...

The last several Mondays I have been

creating Little House Table Runners...

They are a great deal of.....FUN !

They require very little fabric

and they are fusible applique'

so they go together rather quickly...

They are small and easily fit under the

sewing machine for machine quilting...

This striped fabric from the stash

makes a great binding treatment...

I am nearly done with this one...

The last step...adding the binding.

All DONE !

That feeling of completion is wonderful !

I have completed 5 table runners on Mondays...

they should make great holiday gifts.

We are weaning calves soon

so I won't have much time in front of

my sewing machine this week.

More To Come...

September in Cellars...

I have spent most of this year plowing

my way through a pile of fabric panels

I have acquired over the years...

I completed the design work on this autumn

panel in March and it is time to get it

quilted and hung in our living room...

The maple leaf blocks in the border

give this quilt so much movement...

The quilt is basted and on the

Sweet Sixteen

Sit-Down Long Arm

I began the quilting in the morning and

the quilt was done by 9pm...

Most of the quilting was accomplished with

these two long arm rulers...

The top ruler is the Line Tamer

The bottom ruler is the HQ Ditch Ruler

I used the Line Tamer for all of the

vertical quilting lines on the trees

in the center of the panel...

I quilted a diagonal grid on the leaf borders...

I used the HQ Ditch Ruler

to create the piano key quilting

in the final border...

The machine quilting is complete

and it is time to trim and square up the quilt...

The 20 inch square up ruler works best !

The binding is stitched and pressed...

The binding feeds so nicely out of this

container set down between my feet...

This quilt will be displayed in our living room

so I have included a hanging sleeve

on the back...

I have a 72 inch quilt shelf that I had made

30 years ago that hangs in our living room,

and I make quilts to display on it.

The Quilt Label is stitched in place

and the quilt is officially done...

Autumn begins September 23...

we will hang it up and I will take a picture.

More To Come !
