Ava is a supporting protagonist in the AMC series Into the Badlands.
She is a powerful Dark One and one of the most skilled members of the Abbot Monastery who is tasked by the Master with training M.K. on how to control his Gift. Once M.K. decides to run away from the Monastery due to its abusive practices, Ava abandons the Monastery with him so that she can protect him from the other Abbots who will eventually track them down and try to kill both of them.
She was portrayed by Eve Connolly.
What Makes Her Love Exalted?[]
- She trains M.K. on how to control his Gift and is extremely patient with him despite the fact that he constantly tries to cause trouble and break the rules of the Monastery.
- After M.K. sneaks out of his room and sees Cyan, Dury, and Ramona needling Tate, she grabs M.K. and pulls him away just in time to prevent him from being caught by the three of them and needled as well.
- Once M.K. runs away from the Monastery Ava decides to go with him since the Master locked his Gift and he no longer has a way to protect himself without her.
- She saves M.K. from being killed by a random farmer after said farmer catches M.K. eating a carrot from his garden.
- When her and M.K. take refuge in an abandoned Christmas decoration store she admits that she still believes in the Master's spiritual teachings but isn't sure what to do now that she doesn't have a master anymore. M.K. finds an old magazine which has a photograph of the mythical city of Azra on it, a safe haven for Dark Ones, at which point Ava promises to help M.K. search for it.
- Cyan, Dury, and Ramona eventually find her and M.K. and begin attacking them, and Ava uses her Gift to successfully fend of both Dury and Ramona at once, only being overpowered once Cyan enters the battle and defeats her.
- At the end of the battle she ends up being thrown onto a sharp Christmas decoration which will cause her to bleed to death, but when she sees Ramona about to kill M.K. Ava pulls herself off of the sharp object and kills Ramona in order to save M.K.'s life.
