Mell is a Silvan Elf and is a magic wielder in Thranduil Halls. She is married to Gwendil.
She is the deuteragonist of the 2023 game The Lord of the Rings: Gollum.
Biography[]
Mell is a Silvan Elf who worked in the Halls of Thranduil as a magic wielder, using her powers to protect the Woodland Realm. She was married to her husband, Gwendil, who taught her much in the ways of elven magic. Eventually both of them, along with some other elves, created a magical barrier known as The Ring of Haze to protect the Thranduil's Halls from invasion. The Haze was suppose to keep the realm hidden from Sauron's servants; causing daze and confusion to anyone who tried to enter it.
However, during the time when Gollum was in Mordor, the haze began to weaken enough that evil started to creep back into the woods. Mell, Gwendil, and the other elves went to reseal the barrier. However as their ritual went on, they were attacked by some powerful dark magic, which caused Mell to go blind. Gwendil and her companions were reported lost (presumably dead).
Sometime later, Gollum is brought to Thranduil's Halls and is questioned by Gandalf. During his time in captivity, Gollum learns about Mell and becomes curious about her (he is less afraid of her than the other elves due to her eyes being less bright from her blindness). She promises to help Gollum as long as he helps her find where Gwendil is, as she believes him to be still alive.
After arriving in Mirkwood, Lestor and his allies attempt to gain access to the Source Chamber in the North Tower to corrupt the Source of the Ring of Haze protecting the Woodland Realm. His plan is thwarted by Gwendil, Mell, and Gollum, who destroys the Source.
In the aftermath of the event, Gollum promises to keep watch over Mell (or Mell & Gwendil) for the night. While Mell (or Mell & Gwendil) is/are sleeping, Gollum pick ups a large rock. If Smeagol was chosen more than Gollum throughout the game, he spares Mell's (& Gwendil's) life/lives. If Gollum was chosen more than Smeagol, he kills Mell (& Gwendil).
