Great Blog[]

Just want to let you know I'm loving your blog articles, especially the latest one about Desmond. Controversial for sure, but you explained it really well and opened my mind. So thank you for that. --Lost 2342 (talk) 08:42, February 24, 2013 (UTC)

Oh wow, thank you. I really appreciate you telling me. Hope you enjoy future ones just as much. --Gregaus (talk) 08:48, February 24, 2013 (UTC)

Hello Greg, I am user Booger403, I am the one who added the TV-14-V stuff to some episodes of Lost. If you have any jobs for me to do on the wiki. Please message me. I want to help improve the wiki.--Booger403 (talk) 15:33, August 4, 2013 (UTC) Booger403

You seem to be a very important part of this wiki. I hope some day you will give me a cup of water to drink and proclaim

Tail Section survivors fate[]

Hello Gregaus. I have a question. By the end of the series we have with the tail section survivors, who were kidnapped by the others on days 1 and 12?

Only two to five can be seen on the island, so I think the other eight are alive. My suggestion to the outside going to get them before the John Locke blew up the submarine had. Several members of others who are in the outside world (such as Jill), and the fourth season, Tom tells Michael to let some members of liking walking around the island.

  • Hi - all the tail survivors were accounted for one way or the other... they were either killed, kidnapped (and ended up with the Others, ie: Cindy, Zack and Emma) or joined the the rest of the main Losties. The exceptions were Rose and Bernard who ultimately went their own way. It's all here anyway: http://lostpedia.wikia.com/wiki/Tailies Hope that helps! Also who is asking (you didn't use your signature)? Thanks :) --Gregaus (talk) 01:32, May 12, 2014 (UTC)

We do not get a concrete answer. One side died under rocket attack caused the church massacre or Widmore team by the beach, but it may be that survived.

Which variant is correct? (Eli, Jim, Nancy and the other seven survivors of our fate?)

  • No we did not get a concrete answer because like a lot of things on LOST, stuff is assumed. There is no definitive answer on the specifics of this particular case, but you can rest assured that one of the ways I mentioned above is how their fate, ie most likely killed at the beach camp, or died (or perhaps survived, who knows) later when they joined the rest of the Losties when the two groups came together. Remember though that many many people died in the flaming arrow attack and then again when the US military bombs blew them up along the side of the river. More died at the Temple and with Widmore's rocket attack. It's anyone's guess EXACTLY how these people died as it was never shown as they could have been a part of any of those groups. As they are background characters, the production team didn't spend too much time advising us of their fates. Hope that helps. :) --Gregaus (talk) 02:16, May 13, 2014 (UTC)

The Others[]

1. Adam, Amelia, Vanessa, and Harper Stanhope our fate?

2. The temple massacre how many people died?

Adminship[]

Hello there! As you may have heard from the announcement post, due to annual inactivity, the current admins will receive demotion. However, there will be searches for admins to replace them. And after scouring for good users to fill that role, I am excited to offer you the position of admin for this site! It is entirely your choice to accept it or not, and if you feel it is not something that interests you, that is alright. Please message me back when you get the chance.

The Silver wings of Night (talk)
02:44, January 18, 2020 (UTC)

  • Hi there and thank you for the offer. I will happily accept as I've long been active on this site as you can tell by my contributions, and I'd be very proud to admin now as well. Thanks so much! --Gregaus (talk) 03:35, January 18, 2020 (UTC)
    • Hi, I see you've already started to work! I just wanted to let you know a couple of things to help us get this site back on track. I notice you're from Australia; I'm in the US so we have the site pretty much covered! Also, I've been an admin at the Doctor Who wiki for several years, so I have plenty of experience with the practical duties of an admin - deleting pages, protecting pages, blocking/unblocking users, etc. For now, I'm a bit busy at work and will mostly just be checking on the site, but my first project will be to root out all the spam that has accumulated here since the last admin action. Shambala108 (talk) 05:14, January 20, 2020 (UTC)
    • Hi Shambala108 - thanks for the message. Yes, I've hit the ground running because there is so much to do. A little bit about me. I've long contributed to Lostpedia (as you can see from the site scoreboard) so very happy to now take on a bigger role alongside you, but I'm also senior admin of the Fringe Wiki which was practically empty when I took over a few years ago. It wasn't (though is now) in a great place and I want to do the same with Lostpedia which looks super dated at the moment. And if you're busy, don't worry. I have it covered, so it's all good. You've seen some of the changes I've already made and more are to come. The changes really are just neatening things, cleaning up with the longer-term view of getting the standard right up. There is great content on Lostpedia so it's a matter of giving the site a bit of love. THANK YOU for taking care of the spam. I will help with that soon also. This has been a bug-bear of mine actually. The site has sooooo much of it and in the past, I've messaged all the admins, none of whom till this day have gotten back to me. I don't know why as prior to this they've been great. Either way, it's us now so thanks again. Looking forward to making this place even better! :) --Gregaus (talk) 05:54, January 20, 2020 (UTC)

Just wanted to let you know what I've been working on. I went to Special:Specialpages to clean up some things, and when I got to the broken redirects, it turns out there are thousands of them, mostly caused by users changing their names and FANDOM creating a redirect from all of their blog posts. They don't actually link to anything, so they're considered broken. I've been deleting them but it's tedious and long, so it'll take me a while. That being said, I do kind of enjoy this type of thing.

I've seen some of the things you've been doing, and I think you're better at that sort of thing than I am ;) Shambala108 (talk) 02:06, January 25, 2020 (UTC)

  • Thank you. Hopefully, everyone else is enjoying the look and feel changes too. Still more to do but happy with the way things are shaping up. I'll keep working on making long-needed fixes as well. It's going to take some time but that's ok. --Gregaus (talk) 02:50, January 25, 2020 (UTC)

Facebook Login error[]

Hi there! Just a heads up, but I had to remove a faulty Facebook login code on the front page that was currently inoperative. It's nothing major, but I thought I'd let you know.

The Silver wings of Night (talk)
14:59, January 22, 2020 (UTC)

  • THANK YOU - yes, I've been trying to fix that for days. Each time I removed it (or made ANY changes to the homepage), the page would break and I'd have to roll back the change. It was driving me nuts. Thanks again so much! --Gregaus (talk) 15:24, January 22, 2020 (UTC)

Re: Reason for Edits[]

Hi Gregaus. It's nice to have you as the new admin. I usually just edited without leaving any remarks, but I will start doing it if it helps tracing records. Thanks for letting me know. Sroczynski (talk) 11:48, February 19, 2020 (UTC)

  • Thank you so much. --Gregaus (talk) 11:50, February 19, 2020 (UTC)

UCP[]

Hello there!
I have an important message about the upcoming United Community Platform (UCP). This year, FANDOM will receive a huge renovation for improvements of editor/user/visitor experience planned to allow all extensions currently available to the MediaWiki engine. And due to that, the community will be going through phases of the development. To stay up to date about these upcoming changes, the blog is available for you to reference. Additionally, please be on the lookout for UCP phase releases and keep the users informed. For any questions and others, as always, please don't hesitate to message me about them, and I will be happy to answer them for you!

The Silver wings of Night (talk) 23:59, March 1, 2020 (UTC)

Thank you, Julia.--Gregaus (talk) 02:42, March 2, 2020 (UTC)
Hey again! The UCP migrations were paused for a bit to address technical issues, and now they're back up again. Lostpedia is in the next batch of migrations, because of that I left a post about it in discussions, which you can read and/or highlight to let the community know, If you have any questions on what to do and how to prepare, please let me know! Being able to mobilize and coordinate is key to the transition.

Infoboxes[]

Hey Gregaus! I see you're doing excellent work on the wiki, and I love your progress! I wanted to stop by and ask if you plan on doing anything with the infobox templates; as they are cluttered with code, now could be the time to migrate them to the portable format and/or change their appearance. And if you do want to update them, do you plan on doing this yourself? If it is too time-consuming, I can offer my assistance in updating them per your instruction if you would like.

The Silver wings of Night (talk) 01:29, March 30, 2020 (UTC)

  • Hi Julia. I have already migrated a couple but most of the others break and look terrible when migrated so I end up having to roll them back. I certainly don't mind doing them as they desperately need updating. Just not sure what to do when they break and ruin pages.--Gregaus (talk) 01:36, March 30, 2020 (UTC)
Hi again! I'm not sure I understand what you mean they break and ruin pages; like there's a code error or the infobox itself doesn't look good? If there is, can you describe it? If it's the way they look, that may be due to the Europa design which can be disabled; I also recommend CSS modifying to give it the previous appearance. And to reiterate, I would be more than happy to take care of that, along with the infobox migrations.
The Silver wings of Night (talk) 12:55, March 31, 2020 (UTC)
Hello Julia. The last time I tried migrating an infobox was about 3-4 weeks ago. I tried repeatedly with several of them but when they migrated/published, they would look "broken" and a complete mess. Not all of them, just most. Some migrated properly so those are now in place. I must've tried 10 or maybe a little more. About 2 of them worked fine, the rest had to be rolled back as they were breaking pages. I felt it was some kind of back-end bug due to the inconsistency I was experiencing. HOWEVER, since your message I went back in and something has obviously changed as one of the ones I have been working on (which previously caused the most problems, "character infobox") migrated fine. But it didn't beforehand. I am guessing a site update has happened in between because not only did this one work but the changes I was making to make sure the infoboxes looked right are now working too. So with this, I will continue to migrate them now that I know at least this one stubborn one, works. Of course, any support from you would be great but I feel (at the moment), I have this covered. I'll jump back on here and ask for help if I see a repeat of that problem from before. :) THANK YOU AGAIN! --Gregaus (talk) 01:07, April 1, 2020 (UTC)
Hi again Julia. I have an update. This is the kind of thing I'm talking about. Somehow when I tried migrating https://lostpedia.fandom.com/wiki/Template:Infobox_Crew/Draft - it broke. I tried rolling back this change but it did not work. HELP! Gregaus (talk) 11:02, April 1, 2020 (UTC)
That does sound very strange, but good that the peculiarity was resolved. And ah-hah! I know that problem! Since all infobox migrations work in tags, one needs an opening tag and a closing tag; but if one of those is missing for any tag pair, then the format gives you a hard time. In this case, the "infobox" tag was missing its closing tag, and the "noinclude" tag was missing the opening tag. I went ahead and fixed it for you. Also little tidbit, but unfortunately, you can't put in a size parameter for the migrated infoboxes; they'll all come in a standard size. That's just something that'll be part of its structure (albeit alterable by CSS).
The Silver wings of Night (talk)
Hello again Julia. OK so I am making good progress with the infoboxes BUT I am having one persistent problem: IMDB tags which worked before the upgrade. Case in point: https://lostpedia.fandom.com/wiki/William_Mapother You will see on this the number appears but not the link as it used to. I have no idea how to fix this and it's a common problem on all cast/crew IMDB links. HELP, please. --Gregaus (talk) 03:55, April 2, 2020 (UTC)
Hi! So sorry for the late response (something's wonky with my messaging system?) but I've found the easier solution is in the <format> tags -- since all of them relied on a URL address, all that's needed is formatting how the data's displayed. I recommend visiting infobox tags if you want to best utilize this method.
The Silver wings of Night (talk) 20:08, April 3, 2020 (UTC)
A big thank you from me and no drama re the late response. It gave me time to figure it all out. Now going through and making all the necessary fixes. :) --Gregaus (talk) 06:56, April 4, 2020 (UTC)

Help[]

Hi Gregaus, I created a new category on Friday, Category:Ajira Airways Staff but I can't seem to add any pages to this cat. It is not appearing on Special:Categories. Do Sysops have to approve all new categories now or have I missed a step somewhere.

I created this category to capture the Ajira Airways LAX staff such as Nabil and Nalini who don't fall in Category:Ajira Airways Flight 316 Crew and Passengers. I would appreciate your assistance. Cheers Ianblair23 (talk) 02:03, May 17, 2020 (UTC)

  • Hi there. No this does not require any approval so I’d say it’s some kind of technical issue. I just tried myself to add the category and it won’t allow me either. Can I make a suggestion though - rather than Ajira Airways Staff, wouldn’t Ajira Airways Ground Staff be better? That way it would distinguish from people like Lapidus. Just a suggestion. :) --Gregaus (talk) 03:14, May 17, 2020 (UTC)

Chat[]

Hey! This isn't happening soon, but just letting you know that when UCP rolls around, the Chat feature will not be ported. I'm not sure about the status of Chat here, do you think it's still core to the wiki or is it barely used? If it's still important, you can try setting up a Discord; if it isn't, you can go ahead and ignore this message!

The Silver wings of Night (talk) 21:45, August 10, 2020 (UTC)

  • Hi Julia. In all the years I've been on this Wiki, not once have I seen it being used, and I have logged into it many times to see. So nothing we need to worry about. Thanks as always! --Gregaus (talk) 12:45, August 11, 2020 (UTC)

Block[]

Hi, I just saw your block on Fringe Wiki; I wasn't paying attention to my Talk Page and it never came up as a notification. I had no idea there were still active users on it, so I did not think to check and verify if any edits were okay or not. I'm okay with reverting anything back, but I'd keep the Olivia edit I made because she was actually 36 in the final scene. I was on a rewatch during lockdown, so I thought I'd help contribute. Cool to see other Fringies still around. --Blueprints (talk) 03:34, September 24, 2020 (UTC)

Clicks to enter the numbers[]

I know it fits with the numbers to have 16 but the actual number is 11. After each entered number the space is automatically applied, as mentioned on a previous page on this site, plus the execute button. --SmokeXX (talk) 01:08, October 3, 2020 (UTC)

It's 16 clicks including the execute button. See for yourself as Desmond hits the space bar between each number.
Space-bar

Desmond pressing the space bar in between each number

VIDEO: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DgsNjTyGsRk Granted, we don't see the space bar being hit in later edits in the season but this appears to be done for efficiency. The fact Desmond does it this first time and it's clearly captured means the space bar hits count too. --Gregaus (talk) 01:30, October 3, 2020 (UTC)
As mentioned on this page (https://lostpedia.fandom.com/wiki/Man_of_Science%2C_Man_of_Faith?mobile-app=false) that is a continuity error, which in the next part where John enters the numbers directed by Desmond it can be seen that he does not press the space bar at all and it is automatic. --SmokeXX (talk) 01:47, October 3, 2020 (UTC)
Yes, for the reason I gave above. Efficiency and quicker edits. The fact we CLEARLY see Desmond hit the space bar multiple times and it's captured in close up, means these keystrokes count. Really unsure why there is an argument here. It's less likely a continuity "error" so much as an edit update to enhance the visuals. Please do not re-edit it. Thank you. PS: Just in case you missed my comment on your talk page, don't forget to add the reason for each edit when saving them. Thanks so much! --Gregaus (talk) 01:53, October 3, 2020 (UTC)

End of the Year Review![]

Hi Gregaus! It's been a unique and challenging year for everyone, and because of that, Fandom is debating about how to move forward in 2021. I would greatly appreciate you filling out this form with your feedback about your experience on the platform this year, so we can get a sense of how we did, how we can improve, and what our focus should be for 2021. This survey will be totally anonymous, so we encourage you to be as honest and constructive as possible.

Thank you in advance for taking the time to provide us with your thoughts and feedback. If you have any additional questions, comments, or concerns, feel free to send those my way and I will be more than happy to help you!

Update[]

Hello Gregaus! Glad to see you committed to this wiki, and it's come a long way thanks to your work and the staff's. There's not much more I can do and it's been an honor working here. The time has come for me to move from this wiki in order to concentrate my efforts on other wikis that will need my assistance as this one has. It is disheartening to part with Lost, but like the show, change can be good. In my place, another representative will be here to assist you in matters of the wiki, KylaraE. Feel free to message her if you have any issues or help from now on. I wish you the best on Lostpedia and future projects, and I hope to see you again soon.

Take care! Nightsilver (wall) 21:10, 9 February 2021 (UTC)

New Wiki Rep & a few updates[]

Hi there! I'm Kylara, and I'm a member of the Wiki Representatives team with the Movies/TV vertical. Fandom is doing some internal reorganizing with its teams, I'll be picking up as the community's Wiki Rep (formerly named Wiki Manager). Just like with Nightsilver before me, I'm here to help and support the community, so let me know if you have any questions. Nightsilver has given given me notes on the wiki and its community to get me up to speed, but I'd love to hear from you about your thoughts on it. So how's it been going around here on Lostpedia? Have any concerns or hopes or wish-list items? Any issues or changes you'd like to see here?

The Monthly - I wanted to check in to make sure that you haven't missed an email sent to you, inviting you to The Monthly, a private webinar-style event hosted by our Global Community Lead, Will 'MisterWoodhouse' Kavanagh. This series will cover important topics affecting the wiki platform, giving a briefing from Fandom. The first edition is tomorrow, Friday at 9am EST, and again at 4pm EST. The email was sent to the email associated with your Fandom account. If you didn't receive them, please double-check the email associated with your Fandom account and let me know. If you're on Discord, I can also DM you the info.

Policies - I also wanted to make sure you saw the recent staff blog on Wiki Rules and Blocking Policy. I checked the wiki's policy pages, and it looks pretty good. It's still a good time to do a full policy review, and it if there's anything you tend to block for that might be unexpected, please make sure it's stated clearly.

Let me know if you have any questions! I look forward to working with you and the community!

– KylaraE  (talk) 00:41, 26 February 2021 (UTC)

Hi, Kylara. Nice to meet you and I look forward to working with you over the coming years. :) In terms of the email, I did not receive anything. I just checked both my inbox and spam folder and there is nothing there from you. It's possible (though unliklely) my spam box deleted it without me seeing it. Can you please resend? THANKS! Gregaus (talk) 04:49, 27 February 2021 (UTC)
Hey Gregaus, have you received another email about this? The Monthly is happening again on Friday, March 26th, at two times: 10am-11am EST and 5pm-6pm EST. Let me know if this is something you're interested in and if you've ever received any email about it. A few spam filters have been catching them them as well. – KylaraE  (talk) 00:14, 20 March 2021 (UTC)
Hi again, Kylara. YES, this time I did receive an invite for the March 26 event. And it arrived in my inbox too which is great. The only thing is the timezone difference. The first session happens at 1am my time (when I’ll be asleep), the other 8am when I’ll be leaving for work. Is there any way to watch these sessions afterwards? Thanks so much! Gregaus (talk) 04:04, 21 March 2021 (UTC)
Had to look into this, and unfortunately no, it's a live event only. – KylaraE  (talk) 23:00, 9 April 2021 (UTC)

FandomDesktop[]

Hey again, I'm gathering feedback regarding the upcoming change to the desktop skin, called FandomDesktop, to help our team address any early concerns before we get to rollout and testing. Check out this staff blog if you haven't yet, and let me know your thoughts?

Some notable portions:

  • Light and Dark modes - A wiki can basically have two theme options, and users can pick their preference.
  • Fluid width - The content area can be expanded, and the right rail can also be collapsed, for a wider article page.
  • Global navigation - Instead of being on the top as it is now, it will be placed as a narrow bar on the left.
  • Local top navigation - This will now scroll with you as you move down the page, so you don't have to scroll back to the top to access the wiki's main navigate.
  • Header - Backgrounds are basically being replaced with a wide top header image.

Some pretty big changes to come! So if you have any thoughts or feedback or concerns, either good and bad, please let me know.

– KylaraE  (talk) 22:57, 9 April 2021 (UTC)

Hey again! I wanted to make sure you haven't missed that FandomDesktop opt-in is open for testing, and you can make changes such as updating the theme to prepare for rollout. Please check it out if you haven't yet, and let me know if you have any feedback, questions, or concerns, I'm here to help!
I may look around and make some tweaks to help get the wiki ready, so it remains presentable on both light and dark themes. Do you think you or one of the other admin might be interested in developing a header image for the new skin theme design? Let me know if you see any issues, need any help with updates, or have any requests.
– KylaraE  (talk) 04:27, 18 June 2021 (UTC)
Hi, Kylara. So nice to hear from you again. I had been using the new desktop design but had to revert back as it was quite buggy. There are a number of issues, mostly with infoboxes (eg: content going right to the edge of the box instead of within a margin, but also some content was missing for some reason etc). Of course, I am happy to create any new images which fit in with the new desktop, I just need the details so I can create them properly. One of the other issues I had with the new skin is that it took away from the fantastic design in the background image which REALLY stamps the site with the show. This disappeared with the new skin making the site look very generic. Neat, sure but it lost its "show-feel." Gregaus (talk) 05:09, 18 June 2021 (UTC)
Hey Gregaus, thanks for your feedback!
  • Bugs - Can you check it out again and let me know if the bugs you were concerned about are still a problem? Quite a lot of things have been fixed in the past week, notably tables and galleries. If there are other issues, either bugs or local code issues, I'm happy to take a look and help get them sorted out.
  • Infoboxes - Can you describe this problem with the infoboxes a bit more, and link me to a page where you're seeing it?
  • Layout - The layout is certainly plain to start. I re-added the background on light theme, and put up a quick header on dark theme, so it feels more like Lost again. But feel free to try something else! Or let me know if you'd like something different. The suggested header dimensions in ThemeDesigner is 2880 x 656px, but it can really be any dimension that works.
Another issue I've spotted is that various templates aren't readable on dark mode, including Template:I, Template:Sectionbox Episode, and navboxes such as Template:Season1nav. Do you want to try tackling any of those, or do you mind if I do?
Thanks again, and let me know if there are any other issues that you feel need to be addressed for the wiki to be ready to migrate to FandomDesktop. Ideally we'll have the wiki ready in the next week or two, so let me know where the problems are that you think need attention before then, I'm happy to help!
– KylaraE  (talk) 03:57, 30 June 2021 (UTC)
Hey, just to keep you updated, I went through all the templates I spotted that needed to be updated for light/dark mode compatibility and I've updated them. If you spot any others, please let me know if you need me to take a look to get them fixed.
With the layouts done and the templates updated, I think that's pretty much it for any issues, at least that I've seen. Let me know if you spot anything else that needs to be addressed. If there are no other issues, you can mark the wiki as ready in the Admin Dashboard, the ready button is on the right. Hi Kylara. Apologies for the delay in responding. I am currently dealing with the passing of my dog. I am devastated. Please allow me a few days to get back on my feet so I can respond properly. Thanks for understanding. :( Gregaus (talk) 23:39, 4 July 2021 (UTC)
Of course, please take all the time you need, losing a pet is truly heartbreaking. :( Let me know if there's anything I can do. – KylaraE  (talk) 01:46, 5 July 2021 (UTC)
Thank you for being so wonderful, and sorry again. My little girl was all the family I had so losing her has completely broken me. I have lost a part of myself. I will be back on board properly soon. Gregaus (talk) 05:38, 5 July 2021 (UTC)

Fixing code issues on this wiki[]

Hello! I'm Shii, and I represent Fandom's Vanguard volunteer team. We help communities adopt to new technologies and features and to improve their technical performance. We have spotted some code issues on this wiki that I'd like to make fixes to, which should not break anything further nor affect the wiki content.

If you have any questions, or this is the wrong venue for this kind of a discussion, please let me know. Thanks! --BryghtShadow (talk) 23:41, 21 July 2021 (UTC)

Hi there Gregaus! Just saw you reverted an edit I made to the page "Dharma Stations" that posited that the Motor Pool Dharma logo possibly refers to its own station. Given that both the page for the Barracks and "Dharma Logos" state with certainty that the Dharma "wrench" logo refers to the Motor Pool and not to an unknown station, I was wondering the nature of your revision?

Cheers! Master Tej (talk) 05:19, 22 August 2021 (UTC)

Reverted Edits[]

I just received several notifications that you reverted my last several edits (including a mistake I removed the "Something Nice Back Home" page between one and two years ago). I'm not super well-versed in Wiki editing (I'm not even sure if I'm doing this right, to be honest, lol), so if there's something I failed to do properly, please let me know so I can avoid repeating the same mistakes. In any case, I would certainly like an expanation for these reversions. Thanks.

Huthtruth (talk) 08:36, 6 January 2022 (UTC)

Hi HuthTruth. I appreciate your attempts but your edits had to be reverted because you were providing "counter proposals" to established content. Wikis are not forums like Reddit where opinions are passed back and forth. That's not how they work. They're encyclopedias. IF you ever plan to add or remove something, you must be absolutely 100% sure it's fact before attempting the edit. So by committing a change of any sort, you need to have studied and confirmed beyond a doubt that your change is correct. If you see a continuity issue which you think is wrong, double-check it and make a change if you're absolutely sure there's a mistake on the page. You made several changes on several pages with what were essentially opinions. It's extremely unlikely you would've found that many mistakes in such a short time. Wiki pages are not a place for opinions or counter proposals. Something either is, or isn't true. The other change, the smoke machine on Aaron's bed, is definitely there, visible during Jack's book reading on Aaron's headboard. It's shaped like the Dharma logo.

Thank you for your quick response! I can certainly see how my labeling of my edits (and perhaps a small bit of the language within them) may have been misleading as to the subjectiveness of my changes, so I will certainly do better in that regard in the future. That said, all of my edits were completely appropriate and within the bounds of the Wiki/community guidelines.
In the case of The Other 48 Days, I removed a so-called "Blooper/Continuity Error" that said "when Boone picks up the transmission heard in this episode, the voice he hears is clearly not that of Sam Anderson. The dialogue is also different. When Boone says 'We're the survivors of Oceanic 815', the voice replies with the same thing. However, in this episode, Bernard says 'No, we're the survivors!'."
I removed this because what is stated regarding Bernard's dialogue in The Other 48 Days is factually false. The referenced dialogue does in fact match, and the second quote (in which Bernard says "No") is incorrect.
In spite of these legitimate reasons for removing this section, you reverted my edit and returned the false information to the page.
In the case of Orientation, I added a subsection beneath the following statement: "At the end of 'Man of Science, Man of Faith' and again during 'Adrift', Jack breathes, 'You..' as he realizes he has encountered the man holding a gun to Locke, (Desmond Hume). In this episode Desmond indicates he recognizes Jack, but Jack appears to be confused (or at least bothered) by this. Locke points this out."
This statement (specifically where it says "Jack appears to be confused") is a matter of opinion. As you yourself have just explained to me quite extensively, "Wiki pages are not a place for opinions." Even so, I did not remove this assertion, and instead added a subsection offering what actually seems to be happening in the referred to scene. And while this may technically be somewhat open to interpretation, it is absolutely no more of an opinion than the original statement. Yet, you removed my edit and not the original section...
Perhaps more importantly though, there are countless examples of Bloopers/Continuity Error subsections that do exactly what it is I was doing: Pointing out that someone's personal interpretation (i.e. opinion) is not necessarily a blooper or continuity error. For just some of the many, many examples of this here on this Wiki (in the Bloopers/Continuity Error sections alone) please visit any of the following episode pages:
"Pilot, Part 1", "Walkabout", "...And Found", "The Other 48 Days", "Three Minutes", "Flashes Before Your Eyes", "Tricia Tanaka Is Dead", "Exposé", "The Man Behind the Curtain", "Eggtown", "The Constant", "The Other Woman", "The Little Prince", "Some Like It Hoth"
In the case of Adrift, I added a subsection beneath the following statement: "However, Rousseau did not reveal that she had heard whispers about the Others coming for the boy until she had kidnapped Aaron and taken him to the source of the black smoke, after the Raft had already set sail. The only two people she told were Sayid and Charlie."
Both of these sentences are matters of opinion and personal interpretation. They would be factually accurate if they said "Rousseau did not reveal [ONSCREEN] that she had heard..." and "The only two people she told [ONSCREEN] were Sayid and Charlie." But because the existing statement was a matter of opinion, I added the subsection clarifying this was not necessarily a Blooper/Continuity Error. Which, again, is standard practice on this Wiki and every other Wiki I have personally engaged with. And yet my subsection here was removed by you.
In the case of Fire + Water, I added a subsection beneath the following statement: "Libby tells Hurley that she can't believe he doesn't remember her from the plane, because he stepped on her foot when he was getting on after barely making the flight. She says she remembers him, the last person to get on the flight, arriving sweaty and wearing headphones, and then stepping on her foot. However, Libby was seated in the tail section, and thus Hurley could not have passed her on his way to his seat. Additionally, in the flashback scene to Hurley catching the flight, it shows that while he was the last person on the flight, he did not put his headphones on until after he had already sat down."
This statement assumes (therefore, once again, this is someone else's personal interpretation and opinion) that Libby is not intentionally lying and that it must therefore be a Blooper/Continuity Error. Once again, I added the subsection to clarify this previously stated matter of opinion was not a fact. And yet it was my clarification that was removed by you, while the original opinion was left standing and unaddressed.
In the case of Something Nice Back Home, the section I removed---which you have now added back---incorrectly states, "There is a smoke detector on Aaron's bed that can be seen while Jack is reading the story."
In your response above you defended your reversion by stating, "The other change, the smoke machine on Aaron's bed, is definitely there, visible during Jack's book reading on Aaron's headboard." You are mistaken. There is absolutely not a smoke alarm inches above the head of a sleeping toddler. What you and the previous editor are referring to on Aaron's headboard is unequivocally the base of the mobile. You can even see the attachment running up from the device on the headboard all the way up to the mobile of stars and planets. I went so far as to point this out in my labelling of my edit (back in February of 2021). And yet, in spite of this you reverted my edit and returned the false information to that page, immediately after reverting all of my other, far more recent edits (mentioned above).
In your reponse above you state, "It's extremely unlikely you would've found that many mistakes in such a short time."
This seems an odd (and frankly irrelevant) conclusion to reach. Especially given the rate at which you undid all five of my most recent edits (you reverted all five in four minutes, which seems hardly enough time to properly establish whether each one of them should or should not be reversed). As I have hopefully now illustrated quite clearly, my edits were quite legitimate and so far as I can tell (after reviewing the link you attached above, as well as other pages) are within the community guidelines.
For these reasons, I will later on be resubmitting my edits, though in a few cases with some more objective wording and labeling. I do recognize in a few of my edits I could have perhaps done better in that regard, and it is therefore not entirely unreasonable they were reverted (even though there are an astonishing amount of similar subsections with similar language). That said, at least two of your reversions (The Other 48 Days and Something Nice Back Home) were absolutely unjustified. I respectfully request that in the future you do not make changes without proper cause.
Since before the show ended, I have greatly valued Lostpedia as a resource. Which is why I now find it so disheartening to discover that legitimate contributions---and the removal of misinformation---have been so blindly, discriminately, and wrongly discarded by an administrator who has a responsibility to be thourough and objective. Almost equally troubling is the amount of time it cost to address this by composing a message such as this. It is my hope that we can avoid these issues moving forward. Thanks for your time.
Huthtruth (talk) 21:22, 6 January 2022 (UTC)
Hi Huthtruth, this is the other Lostpedia admin here. Please do not just re-add content that an admin has removed. It was removed for a reason. I think you might have misunderstood Gregaus' point, and I'll use an example to explain what we do and don't want.
The example of Rouseau that you added your comments: the problem with refuting continuity or production errors like this is that someone posts something, then you, for example, make a post refuting it, then the original poster or someone else posts "yeah but..." and it just goes on and on and becomes an argument (or worse, an edit war with people correcting or removing each others' edits over and over). That kind of discussion is what we do not want. Like Gregaus said, this wiki is not a discussion forum. It's an encyclopedia.
Here are a couple of options for dealing with something like this, and I hope it helps guide you in your other edits. First, you could just remove the original comment, if it's not really a continuity error. Explain either in the edit summary and/or the talk page why you removed it. Second, you could alter it, like in your suggestion above where you posted the word "onscreen". I personally prefer the first option when the original content is not really a continuity error. For some reason people love to nitpick their "favorite" shows to find whatever errors they can. Sometimes it's fun to do this, but probably every wiki is full of "errors" that aren't really.
I hope this helps you understand what we're looking for. Thanks for your time! Shambala108 (talk) 00:39, 8 January 2022 (UTC)

Retiring Featured Video[]

Hey there! Fandom is moving forward with its plans to retire the legacy Featured Video content. This wiki has some Featured Videos, such as the one at the top of Juliet Burke's page (you may need to log out to see it). Do you want to keep Featured Videos on this wiki, or is it all right if we remove them? Either way, let me know! – KylaraE  (talk) 07:20, 4 August 2022 (UTC)

Hi, Kylara. Thanks for letting me know. Is there a way we can keep this feature given it’s used across the site or will that cause some kind of issue? It would be ideal if it could stay. Thanks as always! Gregaus (talk) 21:48, 8 August 2022 (UTC)
Yeah, that should be all right! We'll just leave the videos up. Out of curiosity, was the community involved with making the videos, or is there any particular reason for wanting the videos to stay? Most communities have opted for removing them in favor of The Loop, so we're wondering!
How's everything else going? Things seem pretty steady on the wiki, but I'm here to help out, so let me know!
– KylaraE  (talk) 18:14, 9 August 2022 (UTC)
The videos have been there since before my time and I'm just a tad scared of losing them entirely. That said, if most of the others are removing this feature, then perhaps it is a good idea to stay in lock step with the rest of the commmunities. What do you suggest? Keen to hear your thoughts. As for evertything else, all good, thankfully. Thank you. Gregaus (talk) 07:57, 10 August 2022 (UTC)

Juliet's pre-crash timeline[]

Hey, just wanted to let you know the reasons why I changed the timeline the way I did.

I'm basing my changes on the flashbacks in One of Us and The Other Woman.

I don't know where those original dates of Juliet's arrival come from. In the flashback in One of Us where she finds out about Ben's cancer, she states that this is the third anniversary of her arrival on the island. The next flashback, the day of the crash, Ben comments that he and Juliet had their confrontation over his cancer "yesterday", which would be September 21, 2004. Ergo, she arrived on the island on September 21, 2001.

In her first session with Harper, it's stated she's been there "for a week", hence, September 28, 2001.

The next flashback in The Other Woman is Juliet's first meeting with Goodwin. Some time has elapsed, since she's had several sessions with Harper (and several failed birth deliveries). In the flashback in One of Us where Ben tells Juliet about Rachel's returned cancer, it's explicitly stated Juliet's been on the island for "six months", so this is March, 2002. Goodwin is in the same flashback where it's clear that he and Juliet already know each other, so their first meeting in The Other Woman was sometime before then.

There doesn't seem to be any certain way to determine when her affair with Goodwin started. The only hint is in their picnic scene in The Other Woman, where Goodwin states that Harper has had him sleeping on the couch "for a year". The way this episode is shot (the picnic scene ends with Goodwin asking rhetorically, "What's he going to do?" and immediately cuts to the day of the crash) heavily implies that this scene (and Harper's earlier confrontation with Juliet over the affair) happen very shortly before the crash, so September 20, 2004 seems as good a date as any: they have their picnic, they spend the night together, the next day, Juliet learns about Ben's cancer, and the day after, the crash happens. Also, that in September, 2003, Harper starts making Goodwin sleep on the couch, the only thing about his affair with Juliet that has any kind of date.K9feline3 (talk) 18:14, 11 August 2022 (UTC)

Hi, K9feline3. It is important that when an admin reverts your edits, you do not just go back and reinstate them. I appreciate your explanation but you should’ve given the admins (myself and Shambala108) this explanation BEFORE you re-edited the rolled back edits and waited till one of us approves them. The simple fact is that your changes are huge and have major timeline consequences as they create a domino effect on all the other dates on the timeline pages. Please understand that the original timeline edits are there after very careful consideration by a team of talented Lost fans. Of course, that does not mean that mistakes cannot be made. This is why contributions from fans like yourself are important. In this instance, there were so many changes that it's impossible, without a detailed, time-consuming rewatch, to confirm the veracity of your changes, some of which appear to be more around speculation than concrete, verifiable confirmation. Unless and until a careful evaluation can be done to confirm your new dates, please do not re-edit any timeline pages. None of this is to say your attempt is not appreciated and I can see you put a lot of thought into the changes. Just please understand that this wiki has been around for a while now and large impact edits like this MUST be tested and checked carefully for all the reasons I have just outlined. Thanks for understanding and for your efforts in making Lostpedia even better. Gregaus (talk) 03:23, 12 August 2022 (UTC)
Hi, I'm sorry for any controversy I may have caused. I know now that the dates of September 4, 5, and 12 are based on a statement made by Juliet in Not in Portland, that are later contradicted in One of Us. And I admit I made a mistake in my initial changes. I thought Juliet said in One of Us, "Today, I will have been on the island for three years," when she actually said, "Tomorrow". I have a list of proposed changes to the Pre-Crash timeline page, but I promise not to implement them myself. First, I'd like to give you my sources for my proposed changes. They're based entirely on two episodes and less than 30 minutes worth of flashbacks, which hopefully won't be too time-consuming to verify (times are approximate within seconds of accuracy)
One of Us
1st flashback: 3:00-5:10 Juliet says goodbye to Rachel at the gate.
Reveals nothing about the timeline and can be skipped.
2nd flashback: 8:09-13:10 Juliet drinks the doped orange juice, wakes up in the submarine where Ethan greets her with, "Good morning," implying it's the next day, and she arrives on the island.
The Other Woman
1st flashback: 0:00-3:18 Juliet has her first session with Harper, where it's revealed she's been on the island for a week.
2nd flashback: 7:03-10:00 Henrietta dies. Juliet and Goodwin meet for the first time.
But that's all that happens here: they meet. There's nothing to indicate when their affair began.
One of Us
3rd flashback: 17:27-20:40 Sabine dies. Goodwin tries to console Juliet, indicating they already know each other, so clearly this takes place after the 2nd flashback in The Other Woman, but again, doesn't confirm that they're already in an affair. Ben comments Juliet's been on the island for six months, so this is clearly March, 2002.
The Other Woman
3rd flashback: 13:40-16:35 Goodwin cheerfully barges into the lab where Juliet is while he's holding a sack lunch, but is surprised and gets awkward when he sees Ben is with her. This is when Ben realizes they've been having an affair. 10 minutes later, Juliet has her therapy session with Harper where she reveals to Juliet she knows about the affair and warns there'll be "consequences" if Ben finds out about it.
4th flashback: 20:22-22:22 Juliet and Goodwin have a date on the beach. Goodwin comments, "I've been sleeping on the couch for a year," and wishes to go public with their affair, but Juliet disagrees, worried about what Ben would do. The episode immediately cuts to a shot of Flight 815 splitting apart in the air, very heavily implying the previous scene takes place very shortly before the crash.
One of Us
4th flashback: 25:42-29:30 Juliet and Goodwin are in bed together. Juliet remarks, "Tomorrow, I will have been on the island for three years." She gets Ben's X-rays, realizes he has a tumor, confronts him about it, and accuses him of lying to her.
5th flashback: 31:53-34:40 The opening flashback from a Tale of Two Cities is briefly replayed. Ben takes Juliet to Mikhail and comments, "Yesterday, you called me a liar," clearly indicating that the previous flashback took place on September 21, and indicating Juliet arrived on the island on September 22, 2001.
We do not have any timeline for when the Juliet/Goodwin affair began. All we have is when they first met, when Ben found out about the affair, the same day Harper reveals she knows about it, and how long Goodwin's been sleeping on the couch.
These are my proposed changes. I promise I will not implement them myself:
2001
September 4 or 21 - Juliet leaves Rachel and boards the submarine ("One of Us").
September 5 or 22 - Juliet arrives on the island ("Not in Portland", "One of Us") NOTE: The contradictory dates in this, the previous and succeeding entry are due to contradictions in "Not in Portland" and "One of Us".
September 12 or 29 - Juliet meets Harper for her first therapy session and Ben gives Juliet a house ("The Other Woman").
  • A few months later, after Henrietta dies, Juliet and Goodwin meet for the first time ("The Other Woman").
2003
September - Goodwin starts sleeping on the couch instead of in bed with his wife, Harper ("The Other Woman").
2004
Mid-September
The Other Woman
Ben finds out Juliet's been having an adulterous affair with Goodwin. Harper confronts Juliet about the affair, warning there'll be "consequences" if Ben finds out. Juliet and Goodwin later have a date on the beach, where Goodwin expresses his wish to go public with the Others about their affair, but Juliet disagrees, worried about what Ben would do.
September 20
The Cost of Living
Ben will later tell Jack that this was the day he found out about his tumor (this is contradicted by the flashbacks in One of Us)
Finally, the September 20 entry of One of Us should be deleted, as it's repeated under the September 21 entry, which is clearly the more accurate date (Ben being a perpetual liar after all).
I hope you will take my suggestions under consideration. Again, sorry for any controversy I may have caused.K9feline3 (talk) 01:29, 24 August 2022 (UTC)

Top navigation[]

Hey again, Greg! Just checking in, let me know how things are going. I was thinking that the top navigation could benefit from some submenus with more direct links to article pages, what do you think? Would it be all right if I updated it, or would you like to? – KylaraE  (talk) 17:12, 10 September 2022 (UTC)

Hi, Kylara. Yes, of course. Go for it. What did you have in mind? Gregaus (talk) 22:09, 11 September 2022 (UTC)

Last Meetings[]

Hello, I'm confused - why were my edits on the Last meetings page reverted? I know my edit history here has been downright sporadic, but I admit that I don't know what happened here and I would greatly appreciate it if you could let me know what I did wrong so I don't repeat it in the future. Thanks! STARCRUSHER99 (talk) 05:40, 2 December 2022 (UTC)
