Lostpedia

this article is in serious need of cleaning up. whoever wrote it did it in a tongue-in-cheek style. This is not Uncyclopedia. --GodEmperorOfHell 06:32, 3 January 2006 (PST)

Agreed. If I can, I'll get to it. --Circeus 08:52, 3 January 2006 (PST)

Removed paragraph[]

I removed this paragraph from the article as I considered it useless here;

"Only Charlie and Mr. Eko are clearly catholic. In Fire + Water Aaron and Claire are baptized in a modest catholic ceremony. Just a little bit of water to the crown of the head."

Hope it could be pasted somewhere else. --Jambalaya 15:58, 10 February 2006 (PST)

Distinction[]

I believe there needs to be some kind of distinction between The Bible (the work of literature published worldwide) and this Bible (the one found on the island) even if it's just breaking this article into two headlines. --209.43.65.170 07:19, 28 February 2006 (PST)

Desmond's Bible[]

Desmond/The Swan has a bible too.

Its on the bed next to the, apparently open and being read, book "The Third Policeman".

John 3:05[]

The verse is cited this way because it is a a bearing - a compass heading - the same 305 degrees that gets free of the pull of the island (Michael, the chopper, the zodiac). Also, to correct an error in thh article: the Gospel of John was written for Gentiles, but Gentiles are non-Jews, not non-Christians. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by TurbineChopper (talkcontribs) 2008-05-13T21:07:10.

The Lost Supper[]

Looking at the positions of the Losties in place of the Apostles, it should be that Sayid, not Kate is in the Judas position (note his green and brown attire that is usually attributed to da Vinci's Judas), and Kate (who's arm touches Locke's as does John's arm touches Jesus making the V or M shape.) Sawyer would be Peter and his arm mimics the same sharp hand gesture made by Peter in the painting.) would be in John's place who is also argued to really be Mary Magdalene. --Starshine13 00:52, January 31, 2010 (UTC) Starshine13

I'm not sure what the post above is saying about Kate (I think there are some words missing) - that she should be in John's position? If so, I agree. It has been argued that this is really Mary Magdalene we see in the daVinci painting, and she also sits closest to Jesus, forming the "V" between them - this is in both versions. Sawyer/Peter rests his hand on Kate/John's shoulder, so that establishes his identity, even though he's now behind her to the right instead of adjacent to her to the left. These choices make sense both in terms of how the scene is blocked (admittedly a bit differently from the original is a bit more cramped and has 2 fewer apostles) and in terms of the symbology. Kate as Mary Magdalene, love interest of the "savior" (who may turn out to be Jack). Sayid as the traitor Judas, since he is now "claimed", possibly by MiB. And Sawyer as Peter, the steady strong rock. I don't know my Bible very well, but I think that makes a modicum of sense.--Pallaksch.pallaksch 07:40, February 11, 2010 (UTC)

The information you described about Mary Magdalene and the "V" outline between them comes from Dan Brown's The Da Vinci Code, which is a work of fiction. While we don't know Leonardo Da Vinci's true intentions with his painting, there is nothing actually in the Bible to indicate that Mary Magdalene was present at the Last Supper. --Celebok 21:27, February 11, 2010 (UTC)

I'm aware of that, but the creators of Lost could have incorporated the Da Vinci Code theory into their conception of the painting (since there are women in the Lost Supper painting, but not in the Biblical Last Supper).--Pallaksch.pallaksch 04:35, February 12, 2010 (UTC)

No, we can't base things of pure speculation. Mary Magdalene being in place of John is just speculation that has no evidence to back it up. Unless the writers specifically state that there's a Da Vinci Code theory relation, we're not going to reference that. -- CTS  Talk   Contribs 23:58, February 12, 2010 (UTC)

Lost Supper[]

Sayid is wearing blue and black not brown and green while Judas is painted with green and blue. Kate's position in this picture does more accurately reflect that of John but then Sawyer is completely out of position as Simon Peter. My guess is that this is more of a marketing piece than any canon of symbolism especially with the Swan logo on the wall being clearly above ground which, though I may be mistaken, I do not believe any part of the Swan was above ground after "the incident".

Side question: If this is the Swan station and the wall is correct is the sun setting or rising?Foolishus 18:39, February 1, 2010 (UTC)

Rename[]

Since this article consists entirely of Biblical references, ought we name it "Biblical references"? --- Balk Of Fametalk 13:06, April 23, 2010 (UTC)

Simplest names should generally be preferred for ease of linking, and it's to be expected that a Lostpedia page on a generally non-Lost topic will focus on how that subject relates to Lost.  Robert K S   tell me  15:24, April 30, 2010 (UTC)
Hmmm... right. --- Balk Of Fametalk 16:13, May 1, 2010 (UTC)
