Plot summary[]
A young lion cub named Simba met a meerkat named Timon and a warthog named Pumbaa, who invited him to live with them in their jungle home. Over time, Simba embraced the duo's carefree "Hakuna Matata" lifestyle.
One day, the friends spent time playing in the mud and eating grubs. Come nightfall, Timon and Pumbaa were exhausted and went to sleep, but Simba stayed up to catch fireflies. Too excited to go to bed, the cub stayed up long into the night, chasing fireflies, watching the moon and stars, and meeting nocturnal animals. At last, he returned home and went to bed.
The next morning, Timon and Pumbaa woke Simba to go to the water hole with them. However, the animals at the water hole avoided Simba, for the cub needed a bath. When even Timon and Pumbaa advised Simba to wash himself, the cub ran away, upset that he needed to take a bath in spite of his "Hakuna Matata" philosophy.
Timon and Pumbaa soon caught up to Simba and apologized for having made him feel like he did not fit in. In order to cheer the cub up, the duo took him to one of their favorite places to bathe, and Simba washed off all the dirt and grime in his fur. Afterward, the friends ate grubs together.
That night, Simba dreamed of the fun day he had had with his friends as well as the adventures he would have with them in the future. From then on, Simba, Timon, and Pumbaa lived their "Hakuna Matata" lifestyle more responsibly.
