Pamba is a female ostrich.
Zazu the hornbill earned a notorious reputation for getting the Pride Landers in trouble with Mufasa. Pamba and her friends decided to play a prank on Zazu by feeding him false information and thus discrediting his reports. The plan initially worked, with Mufasa losing faith in his majordomo, but Zazu redeemed himself by warning the Pride Landers of a deadly army ant attack. Shamed by Zazu's heroism, Pamba and her friends confessed their dishonesty to Mufasa, then explained the ruse to their parents. Afterward, they helped Zazu gather information around the Pride Lands.

Cheka and his friends asked Pamba and Mayai to spread a rumor about a strange beast across the Pride Lands. At first, Pamba was hesitant, but when her brother insulted her, she gave in to the plan.
The young animals put their idea into play, but the plan ended up working too well, as it ruined Zazu's reputation with Mufasa. However, after a fearsome army ant attack, the children confessed to Mufasa all that they had done. Though Pamba's parents were angry with their children for their foolishness, Mufasa was fair and instructed the young animals to help Zazu gather news from around the Pride Lands in order to correct their earlier mistakes.[1]
Legacy[]
Zazu told the story of Pamba and her friends to Mufasa's grandson, Kopa.[1]

Despite her rambunctious nature, Pamba is more cautious concerning disobedience than her brother, Mayai. When all the animals plotted to get Zazu in trouble with Mufasa, she was hesitant to follow their lead. However, she ultimately gave in to peer pressure. According to Mayai, Pamba is an "airhead."[1]

Trivia[]
- Pamba's name means "decorate, adorn" or "arrange" or "decoration, adornment" in Swahili.[2]
- It is possible that Pudini is Pamba's mother, for she has two unnamed children, and Pamba and Mayai are referred to as "the ostrich babies."[1]
