Chama cha Mzaha na Furaha!
―Furaha's catchphrase[src]

Furaha is a male monkey.

After being exiled from his troop for his rambunctious behavior, Furaha moved into Rafiki's tree with his friends, Chama and Mzaha. However, Rafiki protested their presence, and so the Lion Guard escorted the three friends to their respective herds in an effort to re-integrate them with their kinds. Despite the Lion Guard's efforts, the friends did not fit in with their herds and decided to abandon them, reunite with one another, and live as outcasts. Afterward, they saved Rafiki and his apprentice Makini from a fire.

Biography[]

Early life[]

Beshte: Can you believe Furaha was living at Rafiki's tree? He thought he had been kicked out of the troop!
Tumbili: Well, uh... You see, Beshte. It is the monkey way to, uh...
Beshte and Tumbili on Furaha's exile[src]

Furaha lived in the Pride Lands. He was a member of Tumbili's troop until he was exiled for his rambunctious behavior. At some point in his life, he befriended Chama and Mzaha.[1]

Furaha and his friends, Chama and Mzaha, declare that they want to live at Rafiki's tree.

One day, Rafiki taught his apprentice, Makini, to draw paintings. In the midst of their lesson, the mandrills were interrupted by a trio of young animals: Furaha, Chama, and Mzaha, who declared that they wanted to live with Rafiki at his tree. Though Rafiki was hesitant to accept them, he eventually gave in to their pleas and allowed them to stay.

Furaha returns to his troop, much to the chagrin of the other monkeys.

Later, with Rafiki in the lead, the Lion Guard visited Rafiki's tree, where they found Makini having a bug-eating competition with Furaha, Chama, and Mzaha. The team broke up the commotion, and Kion questioned the three young animals as to why they were not with their herds. The three admitted that they were outcasts, but Rafiki insisted that they must return to their families, for it was part of their duty to the Circle of Life. Seeing the importance of Rafiki's words, the three young animals agreed to return to their herds.

Furaha reunites with Chama and Mzaha.

Beshte and Ono escorted Furaha back to his troop, where he received a lukewarm welcome from his leader, Tumbili. Meanwhile, Fuli brought Mzaha back to Bupu, while Kion and Bunga led Chama back to his herd. However, Furaha, Chama, and Mzaha were unable to fit in with their herds and met up away from their respective kinds. They romped around the Pride Lands, playing together, until they decided to return to Rafiki's tree. There, they disrupted yet another lesson from Rafiki, who ordered them to return to their herds and leave Makini to her training. Reluctantly, the three agreed and left the mandrills to their work.

Furaha, Chama, and Mzaha rescue Rafiki and Makini from a fire.

Shortly afterward, sparks from a nearby fire began to drift across the savanna, igniting the grass beneath Rafiki's tree. Makini and Rafiki noticed the danger too late and found themselves trapped on a branch high above the fire. Before the Lion Guard could reach Rafiki's tree, Furaha, Chama, and Mzaha arrived and led the mandrills to safety. They then began to put out the fire themselves.

The Lion Guard took off to save Makini and Rafiki, only to find that Furaha, Chama, and Mzaha were battling the fire themselves. The Lion Guard joined in, and together, the two groups put out the fire. Rafiki thanked them profusely for their help and, as a token of thanks, offered Furaha, Chama, and Mzaha a home at his tree. The three were honored by Rafiki's offer but admitted that they had found a new home near Big Springs for their family.[1]

Physical appearance[]

Furaha is a monkey with a lithe frame and a pale gray pelt with brown and black markings. He has a gray face, a pink muzzle, and a large head of messy, black-and-white hair. His eyes are black with yellow sclerae.[1]

Personality and traits[]

Furaha is free-spirited, with a penchant for fun and games. He has a more serious side, however, as seen when he selflessly put himself in danger in order to help Rafiki and Makini escape a fire. Furaha also shares a special bond with his friends, Chama and Mzaha.[1]
