Martians are Life on Mars minifigures introduced in 2001.

Description[]

Martians appeared in seven of the Life on Mars sets with many variations. Their design is derived from Battle Droids and use the same Space Skeleton torso and arms, although their heads and legs are unique pieces made exclusive for the Life on Mars theme. Most Martians have bright bluish green heads and arms (the only exceptions being Riegel and Arcturus), while their torso and legs are a variety different colors.

Three unidentified Martians appear in the smaller sets, resembling combinations of preexisting Martians in other sets. One resembles Vega with a bright blue torso; one resembles Pollux with bright orange torso and legs; and one resembles Antares with a bright orange torso and black legs.

In 5778 LEGO Racers 2, all Martians are depicted with bright bluish green legs. A large number of generic Martians use Riegel's head print with bright bluish green skin and a black torso, matching Riegel's in-game model.

Background[]

Martians are creatures that inhabit Mars. In the 1930s, they invaded Earth under the leadership of Arcturus but were repelled by germ warfare. In the present day, the Martians are a more peaceful race with Riegel as their general. They depend upon Biodium for survival, but a faction of rebellious Martians plot to steal all of the planet's Biodium, usurp Riegel, and invade Earth again. With the help of BB, Doc, and Mac, the rebels are thwarted and the Martians are able to synthesize Biodium.

There are no Martians in Mars Mission, which instead features an antagonistic Alien species from another unidentified world. However, LEGO Battles implies the existence of Martians due to the presence of ancient ruins in the "Ancient Treasure" level, suggesting that Martian civilization sought out purple Energy Crystals long ago.
