Mines of Moria is a The Lord of the Rings location featured in LEGO Dimensions. It appears in The Lord of the Rings World, located in Middle-earth, and the level, Prologue.
Background[]
Moria (also known as Khazad-dûm or Dwarrowdelf) was the Dwarven underground city beneath the Misty Mountains. For thousands of years, a thriving Dwarvish community had delved deep below the mountains seeking to build their lives there, and to find sources of treasure, gold and Mithril. The city was abandoned during the Third Age after excavations accidentally released a Balrog.
After the events in The Hobbit, one of the dwarven company, Balin, Oin, and Ori led an expedition to reclaim and recolonize the city. The group encountered significant Orc resistance still occupying the mines.
Dimensions Crisis[]
Gandalf was leading the Fellowship of the Ring onto the other side of the mine, leaving to face the Balrog on his own, telling it that it will pass not. Not any sooner, the Balrog attempted to cross the bridge to attack, but both it and Gandalf fell into the abyss. Gandalf himself was about to slay the Balrog when Batman suddenly appear out of nowhere, and later saved Gandalf's life. However, before anyone can figure out the strange situation, Ring-bearer Frodo Baggins got sucked into the Vortex, with the One Ring in his hand. Both Gandalf and Batman went into the Vortex to rescue Frodo, leaving the rest of the Fellowship at a confused state.
Trivia[]
- The Mines of Moria is the location of Balin's tomb, a member of Thorin's group of Thirteen Dwarves who helped retake Erebor with the assistance of Bilbo Baggins.
- A skeleton of Ori, the youngest of the Thirteen Dwarves also appears besides the tomb, holding a book when the Fellowship enter Balin's Tomb.
