Judd Larson is a serial killer responsible for the fatal shanking of gangster Rafael Alejo in the prison block they were both assigned to. Larson was solicited by Corrections Officer Peter Bennett as revenge for Alejo raping Bennet's colleague and fiancé, Officer Angela Donahue.
Larson was promised by Bennett that Larson's son would be transferred to a different juvenile facility to protect him. Since he still needed that after the murder, he made it his condition for cooperating with the justice system with his testimony. (L&O: "Standoff")
