Jennifer Benitez is a Honduran woman who immigrated into America and lived in Manhattan with her son Diego. Since their green cards expired, they turned to trials for a new pesticide under the watch of Seth Millstead and Roger Hanley. It was highly unethical and endangered the lives of the subjects, Diego suffering the worst from developing cancer from nerve gas inhalation.
When Millstead was arrested and killed in prison, Jennifer admitted the truth about their status and begged to not go back, only to be nearly killed by nerve gas overload along with Benson and the other tenants. Hanley was caught by bypassing the red tape illegally, but he was still ordered to take a plea for no jail time in exchange for paying for the families and their healthcare. Jennifer and Diego were granted their better guaranteed immigration statues, with Diego getting the money to afford his cancer treatment and Benson wishing them both the best. (SVU: "Loophole")
