Akasha is a high-rank nastika from the Garuda clan. As of the year N1, after Vinata's death, she became ranked 2nd in her clan, and is next in line to become King after Garuda.[1]

Appearance[]

Human Form[]

Akasha is a pale nastika with long blond hair. Her hair is decorated with beads and various ornaments, and she wears a white cloak that covers the top half of her face. She also wears a tight-fitting black dress that has a high collar and high slits up the sides. She has red marks and dark lines below her eyes that are difficult to see because the hood of her cloak mostly covers them.[2] Akasha's eyes cannot transform into human form.[3] Her wings are yellow and green, and they look like they are made out of energy[4].

Personality[]

During her meeting with Maruna in the year N1, she taunts him about his father being incapacitated,[5] and expresses disappointment that he shows little grief over the loss of his parents.[1]

She is very strict in how she raises her children, keeping her daughters in isolation so she can marry them off to Nastikas in order to avoid having Upanis as grandchildren.[6] This is very apparent in Maruna and Samphati's behaviors, as their entire world view is based in Akasha's teachings that power is what matters most. She is rather cold to her own children, telling Sagara that holding longterm grief over the loss of one rakshasa is unwise.[7]

She cares for her clan deeply, putting time and effort towards the creation of a Rakshasa stronger than Nastikas.[8] She is outraged when all that work is wasted, and puts her life on the line fighting Airavata to try to get the name back.[9]

Skills and Abilities[]

Akasha is a high-ranking Nastika making her a powerful Nastika, however, the gap between her and Garuda is quite large as many of the Garuda clan's Nastikas have perished.[10] Akasha is a nastika of similar ranking to Sagara, with both of them being confident they can defeat the other. However, they avoid fighting as they worried that they could lose by chance.[11]

Shield: Akasha is able to summon a yellow colored shield to block attacks.[4]

Unique Transcendental: Akasha has a unique transcendental that allows her to isolate a specific space and absorb external damage.[9]

Teleportation: Akasha has a skill that allows her to teleport.

Plot[]

History[]

Akasha is the mother of Samphati and Jatayu.[12] She is the is the strongest nastika who remained in the Garuda clan and would become king in the event of Garuda's death.[13] Despite this, she is not particularly powerful compared to similarly ranking nastikas of other clans since a great number of strong nastikas that stood between Vinata and Garuda in ranking got wiped out through-out the existence of the universe.[10]

Due to her position, she handles the affairs of the Garuda clan and makes plans to save it, which involved waking up Garuda[14] and finding out how to ignore the order of succession when passing the mantle of king.[15] She has given Maruna orders, first to develop, and then to search for his siblings in the human realm.

Extra: Special Episode 7 - Ideal[]

(1) In D651, Maruna presents a not particularly successful drawing to Akasha and asks which of her daughters it is. Akasha first considers this a joke and suspects Vinata of putting him up to it. Maruna's description does not help either since Akasha has over 500 daughters with yellow hair and feathers.

Akasha eventually refuses to let Maruna meet her daughters because she wants to marry them off to nastikas as she will not suffer any Upani grandchildren. That is also why she keeps them in isolation and forbids them from speaking to men.

Season 2[]

Chapter 26: Outsider[]

2-102 mysterious Garuda nastika

Do you miss your father?

(2) In a flashback to the year N1, shortly after the Cataclysm, Akasha summons a 3rd stage Maruna before her and takes him to his comatose father, the king of the Garuda clan, Garuda. She asks him about his feelings regarding the situation. Maruna scoffs and shows disinterest.

(3) Akasha lays out Maruna's situation to him - his father is comatose, his mother is dead, and he is merely at 3rd stage. Maruna shows no remorse for his mother's death, pointing out that such a philosophy is what Akasha taught him. Akasha is amused and brings up that all of Maruna's older brothers were just as arrogant as him at 3rd stage. Maruna is unhappy to hear about brothers who died long before he was born.

Then they talk about Maruna's stay at the Gandharva clan. Maruna criticizes the experience, everything from the smell of fish to the harsh training Gandharva put him through, and he suggests that Gandharva was just angry about Maruna being close to his daughter, Shakuntala. Maruna developed to 3rd stage when he heard that Kalavinka had already hit that stage. He felt frustrated that he would look younger than his younger sister.

2-103 meeting with Akasha

You have to develop to the 4th stage

Akasha is glad to hear that such was Maruna's key to 3rd stage and then reveals that she called on Maruna because he must develop to 4th stage within the next four years. Should he fail, all his siblings will die. But since this will be a difficult task, Akasha called on Samphati, a powerful 5th stage rakshasa, to help Maruna.

Maruna shows little interest and asks what danger threatens his siblings, Jatayu and Kalavinka. Akasha abruptly warns him not to use the name Jatayu, because that was the name of Samphati's sister who died 300 years ago.

Maruna notes that 300 years ago is also the time when Yuta fled from Taraka and came to the Garuda clan. Akasha explains that Yuta hid his real name and so he received a new one, Jatayu. Akasha refuses to further discuss the issue until Maruna has developed and lets Samphati break his wrist and drag him away. Akasha adds that if Maruna fails to develop, Samphati will go in his place and that he has the option to run away, should that be his choice. But he should know that subjecting himself to the torture is the only way to ensure his siblings get a chance to live.

Chapter 27: Last Stand/Last Resort[]

(3) It is the year N16 and Samphati has been called upon by Sagara to aid her in the human realm. Maruna reveals to his brother Yuta that Akasha had asked him to return both of his siblings to the sura realm in order to revive their father, Garuda. When the realms where separated, the Power of the Name remained in the human realm, which led to Garuda's collapse. Maruna painfully recalls Akasha bringing up the possibility that Garuda may not wake once the siblings are returned, implying that the siblings may need to be killed.

Chapter 28: Emergency/Flight[]

2-114 Maruna and Samphati

Wait a little more

(1) According to Samphati, Akasha sent her to the human realm because she felt like Maruna was taking too long.

(6) Maruna argues with Samphati that the other Garuda clan nastikas do not support Akasha's scheme to kill off Garuda's other two children in order to revive him, aided by the snakes, and that the King himself would not agree with their actions.

Chapter 32: Loser[]

2-167 mother daughter talk

Mother and daughter

(3) In a flashback, Akasha and Samphati are seen discussing Samphati's revenge for her sister's death. While Samphati just wants the perpetrator to suffer as much as possible, Akasha still has doubts about who really is responsible. She notes that the situation was just too odd; Jatayu befriended a Chaos clan sura despite numerous warnings by Samphati herself, and managed to leave their stronghold and venture through the harsh sura realm unharmed. She concludes that there must be a primeval god or nastika involved, but Samphati refuses to hear this, repeating that "he" must be the villain, growing frantic. Akasha thinks to herself that Samphati is not willing to accept that the culprit is someone she is unable to stand up against since this would negate her purpose of development, and that insisting further would lead to Samphati losing the last shred of her sanity. She then gives up, saying that "he" indeed is the villain and that she should exact her revenge against him if the opportunity should arise. Akasha thinks to herself that the price of the deal for Samphati's growth was unexpectedly harsh, and that the things she had lost thanks to that deal would come back to bite her someday.

Season 3[]

Chapter 37: Threat[]

3-014 answer me

Samphati is not here

(1) After passing through a gate to the sura realm, Maruna finds Akasha on the other side, who asks him why he has not returned with Samphati. When Maruna does not respond, Akasha realizes the truth herself, noting that if Samphati had successfully completed her mission, things would not have gotten as bad as they are currently. Maruna asks why he sees Yaksha and Gandharva nastikas fighting each other. Akasha replies that there is no time to explain and hands him something to take back to the human realm, to give to someone who will know how to use it; Maruna was the Garuda clan's only hope. Maruna notices that her eye is bleeding, wonders why it is not healing, and asks about the other nastikas. She replies that she is the only Garuda nastika left who can still actively fight. The gate begins to close up, so Akasha forces an aghast Maruna back to the human realm.

Chapter 40: Twisted Bird[]

(5) The Taraka clan has overrun the sura realm, causing several sura clans to be in a state of ruin. The Garuda clan has been said to be all but annihilated.

Chapter 41: Your Seven Years[]

(7) Sagara also reveals that the reason Akasha sent Samphati to aid Sagara was to learn the secret trick that Sagara used to become king despite not being the strongest in her clan.

Chapter 48: Separation[]

3-128 Samphati and Akasha

Akasha saved Samphati's life

(8) A tarakafied Samphati repeats to Maruna the longstanding dogma the two had accepted; when the opportunity is given, go for the kill. They were forced into living a life of obedience to those above them, and in such a life, they could not afford to be compassionate. Maruna notes that this was one of Akasha's teachings, and tells Samphati of how Akasha had given him the Pledge Token. A shocked Samphati tells Maruna that this could not have been Akasha, for she perished seven years ago while saving Samphati's life. Samphati continues, telling Maruna that Akasha would never have given him the item, knowing its evils, and questions if the person Maruna met truly was Akasha.

Chapter 50: The Weight of Time[]

(7) As Maruna runs into a mysterious entity in the abyss of the sura realm, he remembers what Akasha had told him before he crossed to the human realm in N5. She warned him of the need to find his siblings, but that Yuta might have to be killed off, as it's likely he's not his brother. Akasha reveals that "something" had been living in the abyss, a twisted creation of Kali. Akasha called it Yuta's real identity, and that chances are he is either older than Maruna or not his brother at all.

Chapter 53: Ananta[]

Garuda High-Rank meeting 3-217

Garuda High-Rank meeting

(6) Around D0, Akasha and Vinata are sitting is silence as a Nastika rushes in to inform them of the accident with Aruna. Akasha is upset that they listened to Airavata's advice to keep Aruna on a remote planet without Nastika guardians to keep his existence a secret. She further rants that this Aruna was a perfect match in soul and name, allowing him to active a unique transcendental just by being given a name in his first stage, which was unheard of since the creation of the universe.

Akasha states that if any other rakshasas are born with the name Aruna they can be killed off, unless a better Aruna is born, and that they can work towards regaining the name for Vinata's son by joining in on Asura's plan. By clashing with the gods and gaining leverage, Akasha hopes to get the Aruna name back, as their clan has low regeneration creating the strongest rakshasa ever is worth their efforts. She reaches out to Vinata, telling her that creating a Rakshasa stronger than Nastikas is still possible.

Akasha and Vinata 3-330

Akasha and Vinata prepare to fight Airavata

(19) Akasha and Vinata agree to work with Kubera and Yama in order to defeat Airavata. As Airavata prepares to attack the gods, Akasha creates an isolated space to contain the fight. She questions Kubera's information about Airavata being weaker than a first king, which he confirms as they would not have been able to holdout otherwise.

(21) As the fight continues, Kubera finds an opportunity and manages to stab Airavata with the spear. To Akasha's surprise, nothing happens unlike what Kubera had told them would happen. Airavata claims that there are no more errors with her, and that they are too late.

Akasha, Vinata, and Garuda 3-234

Akasha is carried home by Vinata

(22) Akasha and the others are defeated by Airavata. Now back in human form, Akasha is bound by Airavata and under a psychological transcendental, preventing her from moving. Due to their attempt on her life. Airavata declares that Akasha and Vinata deserve to be executed, she unleashes an attack but Garuda arrives just in time and blocks it.

(23) Garuda makes a deal with Airavata in exchange for Akasha and Vinata's lives. Still under the effect of the mental transcendental, Akasha is carried back to their stronghold by Vinata as Garuda opens a portal to take them home.

Akasha and Hanuman 3-256

Akasha talks to Hanuman

(15) Some of the Yaksha nastikas mention that if Akasha is in a position to act as king, then the Garuda clan is on the verge of extinction. Meanwhile Akasha is discussing with Hanuman the plan that the Ananta clan is preparing, revealing that the Garuda clan has agreed to work with them. Hanuman gets angry saying it's not worth listening to her, Akasha counters that the Asuras must have decided to work with her rather than the Yaksha because Hanuman is too simple minded for these conversations. When further discussing alliances Akasha mentions that Nastikas cannot make it to the end alone, meaning the dragons will fall. She also mentions that the Kinnaras cannot be trusted with Airavata at their head.

Akasha 3-256

Akasha talks to Samphati

Feeling like the conversation is going nowhere, Akasha teleports towards Ran, telling him that his body of N5 cannot handle the pain caused by the Eye of Perishment and he will die. Hanuman gets angry again and tells Akasha to leave. The Garuda tells Hanuman to be honest with Ran, telling the Quarter to come find her if he is interested in hearing more, then Akasha leaves. Back at the Garuda stronghold, Akasha meets with Samphati. Akasha asks her daughter if there are any signs of Ran which Samphati reports there aren't, Akasha states it's a shame since he would have been able to return to the human realm easily. She reveals to Samphati that Maruna and Gandharva are on Carte, and that they have acquired an ally with the ability to open up portals.

(17) Kalavinka sees a portal leading to the sura realm, and when she looks through it she sees a smirking Akasha before the portal closes.

Akasha and Sagara 3-259

Akasha and Sagara talk

(18) Akasha talks to Sagara who's upset that she cooperated with Taraka again and did not follow the plan. Akasha retorts that by sending Maruna to the human realm she is risking quite a lot already, so she agreed when Taraka offered to open a portal if Akasha provided the vigor for it. Sagara questions how Akasha can work with the Taraka clan when Yuta ate her daughter, to which Akasha retorts that many of her daughters have been eaten by snakes. Sagara insists that her advice to not work with Taraka was based on more than a guess, and that Akasha would regret this.

(20) When reading the time records, Maruna discovers that Akasha was the one who killed Vinata.

(1) With the sura realm collapsing, many suras fall towards the human realm and are taken to locations of some of their clanmates, Akasha is such a case, arriving through a portal on Halmut where Samphati is, to her daughter's surprise.

  • Akasha has a great number of daughters. She has over 500 only of those with yellow hair and wings. She raises her daughters in isolation and forbids them from speaking to male rakshasas, for she wants to marry them off to nastikas to prevent them from having upani children.[6]
