Some finishes

Finns quilt is finished and he now has it to play on, he likes both the front and back

so much colour and things to look at.

I have been working on a pincushion from a kit I got from Bittern by the Bug recently, the owner of the business is coming to the Guild to talk to us next year, she imports vintage Japanese fabrics.
A slightly better photo this time 😀
and the top
it has felted wool top and bottom

My quarter inch hexies have gone from
this
to
this.
At Bellarine Quilters we were challenged to make a name tag to be shown at our Christmas lunch.
Turns out only four of us have made one so it has been cancelled 😕
Oh well four of us still get to have new name tags I guess.
I am off to get some breakfast, maybe do some gardening or maybe start on an Aussie Hero quilt, or do some more quilting on the Red Tractor fabric or another project that needs quilting - so many choices!!!
Have a good weekend and happy stitching.

Over the long weekend

I was busy walking the dogs, catching up on chores and sewing!!

I have finished two of the quilt tops donated  to the Bellarine Quilters, they will be added to the Quilts for Others pile.

Hank has to be up and watching, with toy in mouth, when ever I move around.

another quilt has been sandwiched, this one will be a play mat for hubbies great niece, it is Red Tractor fabric
Hanks was under the table trying to catch blow flies 😒
Tira was reclining in the shade
On the move again 😀
I had better be now and go sort some lunch
Happy stitching.

FNWF

Not a huge lot of sewing was done last night, I did get the second quilt sandwiched

my assistant was smelling the roses
I did a little hand sewing while watching a Jackie Chan movie last night
Yes quarter inch hexies - I had a mad moment - I m making a small project so it isn't too much sewing, I need to cover more papers, maybe tonight.
This morning I went for a walk with the dogs and Mary a quilting friend, Mary lives at Indented Head just along the coast from us and a friend of hers lives closer to Portarlington. So we decided to see if we and the dogs could walk the distance. Tira wanted a swim on the way

Looking back from where we had come. We did make the distance and had a cuppa with Mary's friend, we walked 7.46kmaccording to my phone and blew my steps quota out of the water for the day.
I am off, I hear a dog whining at the back door, no doubt she wants to come back in!
Happy stitching.

FNWF

Tonight is Friday and it is Friday Night with Friends, the first Friday of the month. Cheryll is our lovely host and has gathered us together for an evening of crafting. This afternoon I decided to take advantage of the beautiful weather and sandwich a quilt. The top has come from a lady who no longer quilts, she has gone into care and sent her son along to our group with 3 bags of quilt tops on the condition they all go to charity. So I am making a start

My two assistants have been loafing about
enjoying the beautiful weather
I am off outside again while it is still sunny to try and get another top sandwiched.
Happy stitching.

Scrub Stitchers Challenge

This was the last month for the challenge and the biggest effort for me, but I am near finished.

Finns glorious rainforest floor quilt is done, well there are a few more threads to sew in and it needs a label, but I am calling it finished as this is the last day of the month and I have just scraped in!

This is such beautiful fabric and has so much detail, when quilting it is hard to know where to stop, because you can just keep on going.
A big thank you to Deana for keeping us on track with this challenge, and for helping lots of finishes happen. I am very happy with what I managed to get done.
I should have said I got this fabric from Hummingbird Quilting (Tracee) she has it in her studio plus another Artic panel which is also gorgeous.
Happy stitching.

Yesterday afternoon

I picked up Maria and we went of to the Geelong Show to do our duty promoting the Bellarine Quilters and our quilt show in the Crafty Corner. The forecast for Friday was really bad, heavy rain, thunder and lightning, possible flooding. At the time we left home it was fine, there was a break in the clouds so we thought lets give it a go!!

Well at about 3.30ish the heavens opened and it poured and poured!! The rain didn't have anywhere to go as it was already so wet. We started to pack up ad then had to hurry as the water was coming in the door that was open and under the door that was locked.

Looking out the window

Maria on the way to the car - knee deep

Me the same, we had to laugh otherwise what do you do. The pavilions at the show all seemed to have water running through them, the road outside was covered in water. I was concerned for getting the car out as we were parked in a paddock! Luckily we were ok, it did take a long time to get home as there was water over the road in many places. Poor Maria got home to find her garage where her sewing and quilting machines reside flooded, luckily her sister was home and opened the back door to let the water flow right through. Sadly they had not long laid new carpet on the floor, that was soaked and has had to be removed. Big clean up there.
Today was sunny with a little breeze, so different from yesterday!
Today was Guild and we had a wonderful speaker Veronique from Wattlebird designs
I was very taken with her clam shell quilts. She started plain and then used all kinds of things to make the clams, this was her third clamshell quilt.
how cute are the Fruity Ladies!!

Veronique uses all kinds of fabrics, laces, felt bits and bobs, embroidery and op shop finds.
I love this pattern and of course it came home with me, lots of little birds, houses, trees, flowers a lovely combination of applique and embroidery. Veronique was a very engaging and fun speaker, she is off to the US for Quilt Con next week so we were lucky she was able to fit a visit to us in.
I had a walk when I got home to get some fresh air

I spotted this container of hippeastrums on my travels.
I am off to get dinner now
Happy stitching.
