Volatile Volcano is the seventeenth stage of Kirby: Canvas Curse. This stage is set after Collapse Castle and precedes Silent Seabed.

General Information[]

Volatile Volcano is an active volcano that came about when Drawcia turned Dream Land into a world of paint. It is littered with rising walls of magma and flamethrowers, and has barely any visible solid ground, making traversing the stage very difficult. There are several hooks throughout the level that can reach Kirby and help pull him over the magma. However, the paintbrush must carefully time when Kirby drops, as magma surrounds almost every solid platform.

There is a Room Guarder in this level in a room with three breakable bomb block platforms connected by two solid platforms. Upon entering, Thudds will begin to spawn above the side bomb block platforms. The very last one will try to crush Kirby from the middle. Kirby must make all of the Thudds fall through the floor by destroying the appropriate bomb blocks and luring their falls by going under them.

It is comparable to Mag Mount.

This song first plays on Neo Star in Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards. It has a tendency to play in hot areas such as volcanoes.

When played with the Old School music option on, Volatile Volcano's theme changes to Yogurt Yard's air theme from Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land.

Trivia[]

  • A Snoppy appears between two static fields and Gordos. This particular Snoppy does not attack Kirby, and taking it down gives the Freeze ability, which is needed to access a switch to collect one of the level's Medals. Alternatively, that medal can be retrieved by playing as Waddle Doo, who can reach the switch with Beam.
