Sayaka Kanda

Sayaka Kanda (神田 沙也加, Kanda Sayaka) was a Japanese actress and singer who portrayed Sora in Saraba Kamen Rider Den-O: Final Countdown. She had also pursued voice acting as well, having voiced Yuna in Sword Art Online: Ordinal Scale, Mana Nagase in IDOLY PRIDE, and Anna in the Japanese dub of Frozen.

On December 18, 2021, Kanda passed away at the age of 35.^[1]

Biography[]

Kanda came from a family of performers, as her father, mother, and grandmother were all either actors or singers. In 1999, she secretly auditioned for and landed a film role in Los Angeles, which won an award at the Cannes Film Festival in 2001. Under the pseudonym ALICE, she wrote the lyrics for one of her mother's songs. In 2001, she returned to Japan and debuted as an actress and singer.

Death[]

On December 18, 2021, Kanda was found unconscious at an hotel in Sapporo, where she was scheduled to perform later during that day.^[2] However as she could not be contacted, someone discovered her body lying face-down in the show without any shoes. Hokkaido police's investigation concluded that the cause of her death was due to traumatic shock from falling from a nearby height.^[3] A funeral was held on January 30, 2022, attended by Kanda's family and relatives.^[4]

• Kanda was married to Mitsu Murata from 2017 to 2019. In light of Kanda's death, Murata expressed his condolences via. Twitter.^[5][6] Kanda was also in a relationship with Takahisa Maeyama in late 2021 prior to her death.
