“ | Look out world! Today's the day I become a Pokemon Trainer! | „ |
~ Rusty's first line in the series. |
Rusty is the titular anti-heroic main protagonist of the Dorkly web series Pokémon Rusty. He is a young boy who wishes to become a great Pokémon trainer, but his stupidity and lack of empathy cause plenty of suffering throughout Kanto, including the deaths of multiple Pokémon and people.
His Evil Ranking[]
Debatable Validations[]
- He looks to his hero, Red. However, it unknown if he likes him simply out of fanaticism or genuine care.
What Makes Him Heinous?[]
- He snuck away from home, telling Professor Tree to tell his parents he was dead.
- He abused his Kakuna "Pikachu" by throwing it at a Ratata to defeat it. He also tried to throw rocks at it to evolve it. This causes Kakuna to become a psychopath when it evolves.
- He used his parent's credit card without their permission to buy several items, including a million-dollar bike.
- He put 16 Bidoofs in a Pokeball, killing them all.
- He drowns a Zubat by trying to train it to use Surf (which it can't).
- He burns down a forest and a town while trying to get past a tree.
- It's said he abandoned his injured Pokemon because he didn't know he could heal them at a Pokémon Center.
- He joins Team Rocket, and then helps them rob a child. He then kills the child by running them over with a car.
- He crushes Three Pokémon with a Snorlax.
- When he sets the Battlehaus on fire, he burns his Bidoof as well.
- He kills a Tentacool by plugging its tentacles in an electric socket. He also kills a Grimer by washing it down the drain.
- When the ghost of his grandpa saves his life, he captures him, and states that he was never going to use him.
- When Peanut Butter kills several Pokémon trainers to give him their badges, he doesn't seem to care.
- He ends up turning his perfect Bidoof Peanut Butter into a dictator when he tells him to forget about "Compassion" and instead learn "Thirst for Vengeance", creating a dystopia where humans are slaves to Pokémon.
- Despite all the deaths and destruction he caused, when sent back in time, he did everything the same again. Thankfully, the past Rusty, who had avoided making the same mistakes as the original, manages to save the day and cause Peanut Butter to redeem.
- By the end of the show, everyone in Kanto hates him for his stupidity and for causing a bad future, and ultimately got what he deserved by being forced to work at a deli for the rest of his life.
What makes Him Inconsistent?[]
- Due to the black comedy nature of the series and of Dorkly in general, none of his actions are taken seriously and his entire character is played for laughs.
- He is practically defined by his incompetence, to the point that most of his evil deeds are done out of reckless stupidity rather than active malice.
- Furthermore, he rarely intends to do evil and often doesn't understand the gravity of his actions, making him morally grey. However, he says that he would do it all again if he could, making it a minor prevention.
- He is genuinely affable to several characters, most notably Battlebart and Professor Tree.
- In the final episode, Rusty actually begins to feel some remorse for what he's done.
