Suirenji is a major character in the 2013-2019 psychological horror anime and manga Mahou Shoujo Site, and a close friend of Aya Asagiri.

What Makes Her Heinous?[]

• Plotted to use her stick to ruin the life of her bullies when they would reach the peak of their happiness and even go after their eventual spouses and children as well, the latter which is rather extreme for obvious reasons.
• Originally only joined the magical girl group out of self-interest rather than any heroic goal.
• Possessed Asahi without her consent with her stick multiple times, something which is confirmed by Asahi herself to cause her discomfort.
• Used her stick to read the minds of the rest of the magical girls without them knowing, effectively spying on them.
• When she read Aya’s mind and found out that Kaname had stolen Nijimin’s stick and was planning to kill Aya’s group, rather than warn the rest of the magical girls she decided to take a rather reckless approach and confront Kaname all by herself while possessing Asahi.
• Her recklessness gave away her group’s position (which was Sayuki’s residency) to Kaname who swiftly tracked them down, endangering not just her group but also Sayuki’s 6 bodyguards as well her father as well as many other Yakuza members who were currently within the residency.
• Due to the fact that Kaname managed to kill Nijimin during his raid means that Kiyoharu albeit unintentionally, was partially responsible for Nijimin’s death, but to be fair she did try to save Nijimin.
• Nearly killed one of her bullies by slamming his head into a glass window, and although he deserved it due to being a transphobe Kiyoharu took sadism in it.
• Although it was for well-intentioned reasons, she extorted Alice Maganuma out of her stick and had Asahi beat her up.

What Makes Her Inconsistent?[]

• Kiyoharu is incredibly tragic with it being too much for even NPE, as Kiyoharu grew up with out a father (with Kiyoharu’s father being implied to be dead), was relentless bullied for years to the point of being repeatedly mugged, harassed (with sexual harassment also being implied) doxxed, ostracized, falsely accused of trying to rape girls, and called homophobic slurs on a daily basis, and was threatened, verbally abused and psychologically abused by a teacher. Additionally Kiyoharu was with Kosame when she found out she had cancer and only had six months to live, devastating Kiyoharu. Kiyoharu also watched their mother die (albeit temporarily) during the tempest causing Kiyoharu to have a mental breakdown, nearly died multiple times throughout the series, had to deal with the burden of the fate of the world depending on them, and was victim-blamed for Nijimi’s death (although to be fair Kiyoharu accidentally caused it).
• She was never a villain to begin with, just an Antihero as none of her acts were done out of malice (except towards her bullies and other villains).
• Kiyoharu is also too much of a well-intentioned extremist to be NPE as all of Kiyoharu’s heinous acts had been done with good intentions, as causing the home invasion was done out of reckless while doing a good thing rather than ill will, getting Nijimi killed was entirely accidental, possessing Asahi was necessary to save her life, and extorting Alice was only done to use Alice’s stick to save people’s lives.
• She eventually drops most of her corrupting qualities as the series progresses, eventually becoming NPG.
• She genuinely cares about Kosame Amagai as well as her mother even going as far to extort Alice just to save her, and she protected Kosame during the battle against the king.
• Is shown to have a genuine friendship with all magical girls in her group.
• Feels remorse over possessing Asahi.
• Ultimately decided against her revenge plan once her bullies and abusive teacher were eventually reprimanded showing that she is willing to leave behind her bloodlust.

Trivia[]

• Kiyoharu Suirenji is one of the few characters to qualify as both Near Pure Good and Inconsistently Heinous, others including The Animator, Thel 'Vadam, Cedric the Sorcerer, Grace Monroe, Sunset Shimmer, Joseph Korso, Nathalie Sancoeur, and Kaworu Nagisa.
• Kiyoharu is currently the only Mahou Shoujo site IH to not be a villain.
