“ The land howls. The Burning Mountain will rise. That breath is a storm, that rage is thunder. Crossing over distant time, he commands the power of destruction. „
~ Miana and Maina as Godzilla Earth senses Mechagodzilla City's activation.

Godzilla Earth (ゴジラ・アース, Gojira Āsu) is the titular main protagonist of Toho's GODZILLA anime trilogy.

He is a colossal plant-based kaiju who evolved to become the most powerful lifeform on the Earth. First emerging in 2030, Godzilla laid waste to human civilization and resisted every countermeasure viable enough to defeat him, even with the methods provided by the Exif and Bilusaludo aliens. By 2048, 15,000 survivors opted to flee the Earth at the mercy of the monster, in search of colonizing a new home. Now unopposed, Godzilla establised himself as the sole ruler of the Earth for 20,000 years, terraforming the planet into his own image, and spawning multiple new creatures from his genetic cells: the Servum and Godzilla Filius.

This incarnation of Godzilla is another new species spawned from hyper-evolved plant life, rather than a mutated prehistoric animal, and is also the largest incarnation of Godzilla to date.

His Evil Ranking[]

What Makes Him Heinous?[]

  • Prior to the trilogy, he killed all the monsters on the Earth as well as 90% of humanity (including Haruo Sakaki’s parents), forcing the survivors to flee the Earth, where he terraformed the planet into his own image and thus making him its sole ruler.
    • While it's arguable that humanity needed to be dethroned as the dominant species of Earth, that doesn't justify Godzilla's indiscriminate genocide over all the monsters, including Mothra (who was peaceful by nature), and his environmental shifting over the Earth's biosphere, forever changing the planet's ecosystem into a bizarre, near-unrecognizable, and hostile environment.
  • Upon realizing the United Earth's forces had killed his "son", Godzilla Fillius, he obliterated them within seconds as revenge for the latter, even through it's understandable that they killed the young Filius.
  • He indirectly inspired Mulu-elu Galu-gu into trying to help Mechagodzilla into assimilating the Earth and the remaining lifeforms infected with pure nanometal.
  • He indirectly inspired the remaining humans into summoning Void Ghidorah.
  • Although he defeated Ghidorah (which the latter karmically deserved it), this is not a redemption, because it's most likely out of self-defense and to protect his own territory.
  • He killed Haruo and a comatose Yuko Tani while the former was piloting the last Vulture, thus destroying the last remnant of humanity's past and leaving Haruo’s eventual kids without a father. Although to be fair, Haruo wanted to kill himself in order to prevent Ghidorah from potentially coming back.
  • While he isn’t as heinous as Void Ghidorah, this isn’t a fair comparison, since the latter is an interdimensional draconic-like entity whose gyrokinetic powers help him to cosmically destroy planets.
  • If one compares him to the MonsterVerse Godzilla (who allows humanity and other monsters to coexist as long as they not disturb the Earth's natural balance) or other Godzilla incarnations (who are tragic monsters with plenty of redeeming qualities), this Godzilla shows no mercy to humanity and other monsters, despite them holding absolutely no threat to his existence, nor he can have any tragedy due to him being formerly a plant, and he wasn't conscious enough to experience trauma before evolving to become a powerful monster.
    • This also makes him one of the few incarnations of Godzilla to be truly evil, alongside the GMK Godzilla.
  • He has a human intelligence and was stated by Metphies that "Godzilla will never let humanity flee" due to intentionally go after all humans and Kaijus. Go even as far to destroy one of the ship tried to flee from earth with atomic breath. Which mean he has full moral agency. Combine with the fact that he has no tragedy, it can be say he has no excuse in his actions.

What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]

  • The main reason why he can't be NPE or PE is because he only has a handful of characterization or personality, and his reason behind his rampage is never explained, thus making him a "Generic Doomsday Villain".
  • He does genuinely care for his "son", Godzilla Filius, as shown when he attacked the United Earth's forces to avenge Filius' death.
  • He did spare the Houtua tribe since they never bothered him, showing he is honorable.
  • In the Novels he saved Earth from Gorath by destroying it and stopped Earth from being destroyed by Void Ghidorah.

Trivia[]

  • He and Void Ghidorah are the only villains from the GODZILLA anime trilogy to be Inconsistently Heinous.
  • He is the third incarnation of Godzilla to be Inconsistently Heinous, following the 1954 Godzilla and Shin Godzilla.
  • He arguably has the highest body count out of any Godzilla incarnation, on the account of him nearly wiping all of humanity out.
