Ebony Nightmist, also known as Black Diamond and Princess Ebony, was is an overarching antagonist in the Equinox webcomic series.

She was chosen by her parents, the former king and queen, to be the next heir which was the start of tension between her and her sister. Years later, for unknown reasons, Eclipse ended up as the queen. Ebony laid an egg with her lover Gleam right after the queen banned cross-breeding. She later became and infamous criminal under the name Black Diamond.

What Makes Her Heinous?[]

• A couple, Oasis and Marsh were uncovering a fortress in the Black Mountains, then Ebony showed up. Marsh attacked to protect Oasis but he's unsuccessful and was killed by Ebony.
• She steals a necklace and when confronted by the guards she dodges them, slits there throats, and leaves them to bleed out.
• She finds Equinox and her friends facing guards who are trying to kill them for being crossbreeds. She orders her daughter Shade to kill the guards as she evily grins.
• After Equinox and her friends escaped with "Mysterious Mask Face", later revealed to be Gleam, they set up camp and, in the morning, Equinox, Glow, and Quartz went fishing. Suddenly, Ebony showed up. She attacked, throwing Quartz into a tree causing him to spit out blood knocking him out. Glow lunges at her dodges the attack causing Glow to fall on the edge of the cliff. Ebony slashes him with her claws knocking him out too. The cliff breaks and Glow falls into the river.

Shadows an Equinox Story[]

• After her parents picked her the next heir, she goes to comfort Eclipse, sad, by asking her if she would like to help her rule since she wanted to be the queen.

Equinox[]

• It's revealed late in the series that Ebony's heinousness was heavily influenced by noxessence; a black chemical that can heal a dragon but the side effects are turning evil and having black eyes appear on the spot of the wound.
• She evaded the guards and attempted to take shelter in Gleam's home to save her egg.
• After ordering Shade to kill the guards, she spares Equinox and her friends' lives and keeps them in her dungeon.
• In the Chapter 16 bonus story, she is seen in her room with her plants debating herself wondering if her enemies really have to fall, show her mental conflict.
• Later when they find Ebony locked up, she begs Shade to leave for fear of her being harmed or worse by her captor, Eclipse.
• In the final battle, after being revealed as Equinox's, she kills Eclipse after being stabbed herself in an act of courage to save everyone.
• Many of her actions were fueled by her resentment toward her sister for banning crossbreeding, which made her relationship with Gleam forbidden love and resulted in discrimination towards her daughters and others like her. This resentment was then fueled even further by the noxessence.
