Max Damage is the main protagonist of the comic book series Incorruptible, the prequel to Irredeemable. Formerly one of the world's greatest supervillains, after witnessing the Plutonian destroy Sky City, Max had an epiphany that led to him choosing to become a hero rather than remain a villain.
His Good Ranking[]
What Makes Him Admirable?[]
- After witnessing the Plutonian destroy Sky City, Max was disgusted by the Plutonian’s actions and decided to turn his life around and become a hero to atone for his crimes.
- A month after the Plutonian snapped and became the world’s greatest monster, Max re-emerges and turns his old gang members into the police.
- Recruited Lieutenant Armadale to help guide him throughout his redemption.
- Called off his illegal relationship with his sidekick, Jailbait, refusing to sleep with her until she turns 18.
- Defeated the villain Orjean, who conned innocent people out of their money in exchange for superpowers. A process that almost never ended well for Orjean's "customers".
- Beat the villain Amberjack and attempted to send Jailbait away to another dimension where she'd be safe.
- After finding out Jailbait was captured by Deathgiver, Max and Armadale team up to save her.
- Saved the Plutonian's ex-girlfriend, Alana Patel, after learning she was captured by the white supremacist gang, The White Diamonds.
- Stopped the White Diamonds from using their doomsday weapon known as Retribution from destroying Coalville. In doing so, Max saved countless innocent lives.
- While he turned his new sidekick Headcase into the police after she proved to be too unstable for hero work, this is justified as she had murdered Qubit for calling her a "poser" and therefore had to be charged with murder.
- Attempted to recruit his enemy, Mike Whelan, into becoming a leader in Coalville. Even going as far as to save a baby from a burning building to try and prove that he would no longer hurt a child.
- Builds a prison to house dangerous supervillains.
- Fought the Plutonian during their confrontation, and once the tables were turned against Max, he instead opts to talk the Plutonian into leaving Coalville alone by playing to the villain's ego. Upon succeeding, Max ended up making Coalville the safest city on Earth.
- After Armadale commits suicide and an innocent man named Bill Henrie is framed it, Max frees Henrie and has him reveal the truth on television.
- Takes over Saint Lucifer's gang and prepares them to protect Coalville from the upcoming radiation.
- Having gained the trust of the citizens of Coalville over the course of the series, Max starts to bond with them by telling them stories about all the times he fought The Plutonian.
- The series ends with Max deciding to start standing up for things instead of standing against them.
What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]
- Even though Max does his best to try and subvert his corrupting factors from the time he was a villain to become a hero, he never fully outgrows a few of them and ironically isn’t the incorruptible hero he tries to live up to be:
- Even though he does call off his illegal relationship with the underage Jailbait, he still takes advantage of a minor by having her fight crime with him. Thus putting her in harm's way. This is demonstrated on-panel by how her involvement in his activities caused her to be kidnapped by Deathgiver and even have her finger cut off.
- Although Max does wait until she's legal before getting back together with her, there's still a sense of creepiness regarding the age difference in their relationship.
- He never fully outgrows his violent tendencies, such as how he breaks Charlie Hustle's legs to keep him from using his super speed, and how he kicks Hustle in the second to last issue because his prison burned down, both of which are too brutal for Near Pure Good.
