Ten (
Synopsis[]
After Gon's match at Heavens Arena, Killua tells him that he has a broken radius and ulna in his right arm, a cracked humerus, three broken ribs, and twelve cracks, calling him an idiot after adding that the injuries will take four months to completely heal. Gon sits up in his bed and playfully apologizes, but Killua pokes him in the forehead and angrily wonders what he's thinking about, pointing out that he could have ended up like the fighters who were initiated by Nen. He tells Gon that he was lucky and reminds him that Wing warned them not to fight. Gon replies that he guessed he wouldn't die after he took a few hits, and Killua then rests his foot on Gon's broken arm, hearing a knock at the door and wondering who it could be.
Killua slowly opens the door and is surprised to see Wing, who silently approaches Gon's bed and suddenly slaps him before he can apologize. With the two left stunned, Wing angrily tells him not to apologize and wonders what he was thinking, reminding Gon again that he could have ended up like the fighters who were initiated by Nen (which Killua points out). Wing then calmly pats Gon on the shoulder and says that he's relieved his injuries aren't any worse. Gon apologizes, but Wing says that it isn't enough to get him off the hook, asking Killua how long it will take for his injuries to heal. Killua replies that the doctor said two months, putting on a cat-like smirk when Wing turns his back to him. Wing then forbids Gon from competing in any matches for two months and from training or studying Nen, refusing to teach him further if he can't keep the promise.
After Gon swears to it while silently thanking Killua, Wing asks for Gon's left hand and wraps a small string around his pinky finger, explaining that it marks his pledge and telling him to look at it so he doesn't forget. As Gon continues to stare at it, Wing asks Killua if he can talk to him outside the room. Once the two leave, Wing asks Killua what their goals are at Heavens Arena. Killua replies that their plans have changed since they arrived, explaining that they only wanted pocket money before they met him and Zushi. He adds that Gon is there to train so that he can fight someone named Hisoka. He then reveals that while the top floor is the goal for most fighters on the 200th floor, the Battle Olympia tournament doesn't interest him. However, he adds that he isn't sure about Gon after seeing how much he was enjoying his fight against Gido.
In a flashback to the fight, Gon continues to dodge Gido's spinning tops as the announcer wonders how long Gon can avoid almost 50 tops, pointing out that he has maintained it for over an hour. With Gido appearing weary, she stresses that he can only watch what happens like another spectator. Gon continues to dodge the tops all around him, but as Killua yells for Gon not to move in a specific direction, he is left with no place to dodge and braces for the impact when a top suddenly strikes him in his right side.
Back in the present, Wing wonders how Gon was enjoying the fight when he could have died. Killua confirms that Gon was and says that while he can sometimes feel that way too, he picks and chooses his battles. He then doubts that Gon can think rationally once he becomes so invested in something, but assures Wing that Gon won't break the same promise twice. With Wing left worried, Killua says that even if he quits teaching them, they will simply find someone else or learn it themselves. He tells Wing not to blame himself and explains that they would have discovered the truth eventually since both his brother and Hisoka use Nen. Wing assures him that he doesn't plan to quit and suggests studying with Zushi back at his hotel. However, Killua politely declines by explaining that he doesn't want to get ahead of Gon. As Killua walks away, Wing tells him that Gon is allowed to practice Nen of the Flame, adding that he should also practice the focusing "Ten" exercise every day.
Killua returns to Gon's room and finds him focusing in silence on his bed. Killua then sits on the floor and does the same. Gon then remembers Mito's words about Ging not abandoning him as well as Kite describing him as the best Hunter, whom he must find as his final test. Memories of Ging's picture, talking with Kite, Hisoka's face, and saying goodbye to Kon also fill his head as he hears someone call his name. Both Gon and Killua continue to focus in silence.
Elsewhere, a guild agent praises Kurapika for finding the guild, but states that she cannot introduce him to their clients. She adds that it doesn't involve his inexperience since that's not an issue to the clients, but explains that he is pre-green. Kurapika is left confused and confidently states that he has a Hunter License. The agent reveals that Kurapika hasn't finished his test, asking him what he sees next to her. Although aura surrounds the woman and a skull appears beside her, she knows that Kurapika is unable to see anything, telling him to return when he meets the minimum requirement. At Wing's hotel room, Wing talks to himself and asks his master if he has awoken a monster. Zushi stops his training and looks worriedly at Wing, who has an anxious and excited expression on his face as aura surrounds him.
