What effect did the dragon whistle have on Jack?
Buzzsaw's dragon whistle played a crucial role in controlling Jack, a dragon. The whistle, crafted from wood, was used to give commands to Jack. High-pitched notes from the whistle stirred Jack, while lower tones calmed him. However, the whistle also disoriented and confused Jack, causing him to attack the Dragon Club. It was later discovered that Jack wasn't genuinely bonded to Buzzsaw, but was controlled by the whistle.

Where was Jack originally living before he was captured by Buzzsaw?
Before his capture by Buzzsaw, Jack resided in the Ice Realm. He was lured and captured using Buzzsaw's dragon whistle.
At one point, Jack was happily living in the Ice Realm, until he was drawn to the sound of Buzzsaw's dragon whistle and was somehow captured by him, along with a multitude of Terrible Terrors and Snowtails. At first Buzzsaw used him to guard the smaller dragons in their cages. The whistle disoriented and confused him enough to do what he said, and, under its influence, he attacked and chased the Dragon Club until they were able to make a getaway with their dragons. Being tied to the ground by Buzzsaw, he was unable to pursue them further. But thanks to him the smaller dragons in the cages didn't dare it to attack Buzzsaw or try to flee.
After observing how Buzzsaw interacts with the Timberjack, the Dragon Club came to the conclusion that Buzzsaw's whistle was the cause of his control, and that the dragon wasn't bonded to him. Buzzsaw blows a high pitch to get him worked up and a low pitch to settle him down. In an attempt to retrieve said whistle, Tom and Thunder were captured, and it was revealed that the whistle they had grabbed was a fake. Tom managed to convince Buzzsaw to let him teach him how to ride the Timberjack, unsuccessfully attempting to grab the whistle while the logger was distracted. Jack kindly took well to Tom as he lead and fed him, but the dragon headbutted Buzzsaw, sending him flying on the first attempt, bit, chased, and roared at him multiple times.
Buzzsaw had lost his patience and was about to return to Thunder until Tom convinced him to climb onto the Timberjack's back with him, tying the logger to the dragon's back for safety. Jack wasn't enthused by the idea, but allowed the two to ride him after Tom calmed him down. While they were in the air, Buzzsaw noticed the rest of the Dragon Club sneaking in to rescue his captured dragons, and accused Tom of setting him up, which Tom denied. Buzzsaw threw him off the flying dragon's back, and, with great difficulty, tried to steer the dragon to his camp. The newly freed Thunder quickly rescued Tom from falling to his death, and the two flew back to camp as Buzzsaw made an awkward crash-landing with his Timberjack. He tried to blow the whistle, but it is revealed that Tom had switched it with the decoy, and used the real whistle to tell the Timberjack to leave and be free. With a glance at Tom for confirmation, the dragon made his escape, dragging Buzzsaw behind him with the rope.
It seems that Jack is obedient to Buzzsaw, even responding to commands given through a whistle. When the Dragon Riders discovered Buzzsaw's headquarters, he employed the Timberjack to capture them. However, when the Sky Torcher arrived to rescue the Flame Throwers, Buzzsaw fled in fear while riding on Jack.
After an altercation with the Jörmungandr, Jack was badly hurt. He broke his wing and had trouble breathing due to the poison gas breath that the Jörmungandr posseses. Buzzsaw, who was very scared for his dragon, asked the other dragon riders for help. D'Angelo, being the dragon doctor of the group, agreed to save Jack. He put a special ointment around Jack's snout to help him breathe more easily and with the help of Buzzsaw he was able to support the broken wing with branches and some rope in hopes it would heal Jack's broken wing and make him able to fly again.
Physical Appearance[]
Jack, a Timberjack, stands out with his purple hue and striking blue eyes. He possesses a characteristic underbite typical of his species. What sets him apart from other Timberjacks is the presence of multiple blade-like spikes adorning the edges of his wings, which are believed to assist in tree-cutting. Additionally, his wings feature lighter speckles resembling stars on the underside.
Razor-sharp Wings: Just like the rest of its species, Jack has razor-sharp wings suited for cutting through trees.
Fire: Jack is able to spit fire from his mouth.
Intelligence: Jack is able to easily follow Buzzsaw's commands with his whistle and answer when called. He also serves as Buzzsaw's second in command and helps with planning attacks against the riders and aided Buzzsaw in tricking Tom multiple times. He is also able to understand when his rider is near to comfort him and when he needs someone else's help, like when Buzzsaw brought D'Angelo to help treat Jack of his injuries from an attack by the World Serpent.
Despite following his orders, Jack shows great dislike for the dragon hunter, and had to be kept tethered to the ground to stop him from flying away. He headbutted, bit, and chased Buzzsaw whenever he got the chance, showing his hate for the logger. As soon as he was no longer under the influence of the whistle, the dragon escaped, dragging Buzzsaw - who was tied to him - with him. Although, it seems by "Punishment and Torcher", he doesn't seem to mind following his orders, and allows Buzzsaw to ride on him while running from the Sky Torcher, and even returning to him after being given the option to fly away.
In Seasons 6 and 7, Jack demonstrates a noticeable enjoyment in the various attacks carried out against the riders. This includes actions such as cutting down the tree in which Tom and Jun were trapped, as well as burning sections of ICARIS to intimidate both the riders and their parents. Additionally, there is evidence of a growing bond between Jack and Buzzsaw, as Buzzsaw was able to feed Jack without much difficulty and they were able to fly together, indicating a positive relationship between the two. In Season 8, he proved his special bond with Buzzsaw when he saved the logger from an attack by Jörmungandr, despite being severely injured. Buzzsaw was also able to keep Jack calm while D'Angelo treated him, then he stayed by his dragon's side until he was fully recovered, indicating they had a trusting and fully official bond with each other.
The dragon allowed Tom to touch, feed, and even ride him, showing that he trusted him more than Buzzsaw. He was also grateful when Tom kept his promise to get the whistle from Buzzsaw and set him free, despite still having the lumberjack tied to him.
Though this was temporary as Jack began to follow all of Buzzsaw's commands to attack the riders willingly. But after an attack by the World Serpent Jörmungandr, and D'Angelo treating his injuries, he and Tom became on better terms.
Originally, they started off as enemies because Jack was the dragon of the Club's archenemy Buzzsaw.
However, in "Of Gods and Monsters", when Jack was badly injured and weakened after an attack by Jörmungandr, Buzzsaw went to get the riders for help to treat him. Despite the others' distrust in the logger, D'Angelo was willing to see that he was telling the truth. Jack let D'Angelo take care of him as best as he could. After finishing his job, he let the Timberjack rest to recover and Jack felt thankful for the young Dragon Doctor's help. He even repaid his kindness along with Buzzsaw by scarring the World Serpent when D was cornered sparing his life, and he and Buzzsaw tended to the injured dragons while the riders fought the Serpent.
