Chief Clancy Wiggum is a major character in the animated comedy series The Simpsons. He is a lazy, apathetic, and corrupt police chief who normally looks out for himself. Despite this, he has good traits such as genuine love for his family and has done heroic acts on occasion.

- He is shown to be a very loving and kind father to his son Ralph.
- Arrests Sideshow Bob for trying to murder Bart.
- Gave Homer a ride home and helped him chase Marge and Ruth Powers who had become fugitives.
- Was among the people who helped rebuild Ned Flanders' home after it was destroyed by a hurricane.
- Tried to find the culprit after Mr. Burns was shot.
- He helped Mona Simpson escape from the FBI to repay her for curing him of his asthma.
Why He Doesn't Stand Out?[]
- He fails the admirable standards to Homer despite having more resources.
- He is shown in several episodes to be a corrupt cop who takes bribes or makes up his own laws (often on the fly).
- He arrested Sideshow Bob even after Lisa told him he had no part in his brother's plan.
- In the episode “Wild Barts Can’t Be Broken”, he blames the destruction of Springfield Elementary School on kids (when in reality it was caused by Homer’s drunk driving spree) and imposes a curfew, and threatens to shoot any child for being outside after dark, but quickly changes it to returning them to their parents.
- In the movie, he is among the townspeople who tries to kill the whole Simpson family for something only Homer was to blame for.
