“ Arrogance leads to demise. „
~ Lady Emeraldblade
“ Words will not move me! „
~ Lady Emeraldblade

Lady Calla Emeraldblade is the main protagonist of Soul Bringer. She is a young girl (later woman) from the fictional town of Emerald Valley and the trusted caretaker and wielder of the powerful greatsword called Soul Bringer. She was rescued after Nightmare nearly tried to kill her, and was tasked by her adopted mother Rosalina to stop a Universal Cataclysm that the Azure Knight was planning.

Appearance[]

Lady Emeraldblade is roughly in her early 20s in physical age. She has long blonde hair, reaching all the way down to her hips, which she always keeps down. Her skin is slightly tanned and her eyes are a bright green. She wears emerald green eyeshadow and pink lipstick. She has a slender body and a pair of white, angel wings on her back, which gives her the ability to fly.

Her clothing consists of a green spaghetti-strap dress with a long, white skirt reaching all the way to the floor, covering her feet, which only appear when she walks or flies. She wears a matching pair of emerald green high-heeled sandals with the dress. She also wears two olive leave-shaped accessories on her head, symbolizing peace.

Personality[]

Lady Emeraldblade has a no-nonsense but optimistic personality. She takes her work seriously, but nonetheless will be easygoing and friendly to her friends and allies. She does not wholly loathe her enemies, although she can get upset on some occasions. When presented with obstacles, Lady Emeraldblade sees them in a upper realistic, if not optimistic view, and does not give up when all hope seems lost.

Emeraldblade is quite philanthropic; as she believes that humans are a wonderful species that she must protect with her life, and country to Nightmare's ideology, aren't an inferior species.

Lady Emeraldblade follows a philosophy, that "Arrogance Leads to Downfall/Demise," which has proven to be very effective against every villains see has come across.

Biography[]

Lady Emeraldblade was born sometime around the early 2000s under the name Calla (her last name was never revealed), very little is currently known about her life before her late teens, except that she grew up with her parents in a town called Emerald Valley and that she is a talented artist.

In May 2019, after successfully completing her final projection for her art class and giving a convincing presentation, her normally quiet and happy life took a turn for the worse when an unknown would-be assailant attack her town and destroyed her school killing nearly everyone, including her parents. She too was nearly killed, until a mysterious savior came to her rescue and teleported her to safety.

After the escape, her savior revealed herself to be Mrs. McKinnon (her own art teacher), but was then revealed to be Rosalina in disguise. Rosalina told her that the entity that attacked her school and killed her family and friends was a misanthropic knight named Nightmare, the Embodiment of the Cursed Sword Soul Edge. Rosalina took Calla in and raised her as an adopted mother, all the while training her for an important mission: to one day stop Nightmare from bringing about Universal Cataclysm.

For five years, Rosalina trains Calla extensively, teaching her how to use a greatsword in combat. On her final day, she tests the young lady by having her battle Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, Wario, and Bowser. Calla defeats each one, and afterwards, is led to the Cosmic Observatory's fountain, there she tasks her to locate various allies across the world to help her in her fight against Nightmare. Rosalina warns Calla to be on the lookout for "A Sorcerer, a Succubus, and a Siren", whom she mentions are minions that work for Nightmare. Calla is then presented with two gifts: an Olive Branch tiara, and a mysterious Emerald, which Rosalina instructs her to place in the upper pommel of her sword. Then she does this, Calla notices her greatsword transform and take on a regal, crystalline appearance, to which Rosalina reveals that the Emerald she had given her was once part of Soul Calibur, a legendary sword that in the past was used to slay Nightmare on multiple occasions. Calla subsequently adopts the new alias of Lady Calla Emeraldblade, and bids farewell to Rosalina as she is teleported to Roswell, New Mexico.

In Roswell, Lady Emeraldblade finds nothing of interest relating to "a strange green glow", before calling her search off for the day, two mysterious men carrying a nylon package accidentally bump into her, causing them to turn hostile. Emeraldblade tries to unsuccessfully reason with them, but ends up getting into a battle against the two men, whom are revealed to be the Soldier and the Demoman, which she ends up winning. Once the two men come to their senses, she explains to them whom she is and the green glow she is searching for. The Soldier accuses her of being a spy for the evil wizard Merasmus, whom Emeraldblade then believes may be the sorcerer Rosalina had mentioned. After agreeing to explain her situation, the Soldier agrees to take her back to his hideout. The accompany an injured Demoman and the two narrowly escaped getting caught by the police and reach the escape vehicle, manned by Soldier and Demoman's colleague the Sniper, and escape stealthily from the city.

At the base, Lady Emeraldblade is introduced to the other member's of the team: the Scout, the Heavy, the Engineer, the Medic, and the Spy, while also learning that the package the mercenaries were so protective of was just their take-out dinner, much to her confusion and annoyance.

After dinner, she talks to the mercenaries, asking who they are and who Merasmus is. The Medic and Engineer then lead her to the latter's lab, where he reveals his newest invention: the Necro-Detector, a device that can detect large pockets of Undead entities, which could help them search for Merasmus. The three then return back to the break room and explain the plan to the rest of the mercenaries, who agree to assist her in defeating Merasmus to stop Nightmare's omnicidal plan.

The next day, Emeraldblade travels to Chessman Park, the location of a large mass of undead activity with the Engineer, the Medic, and the Sniper, where that evening they set up a teleport for the other mercenaries to travel through when Emeraldblade and Sniper spot Merasmus in the distance. When all the mercs arrive, they launch a surprise attack on the evil sorcerer, only for them to be caught off-guard by a surprise counter-attack by the wizard when he suddenly resurrects an army of skeletons to attack the mercs. They quickly dispose of them, only for Merasmus to fight back by summoning several hundred [[Malfested, as well as the Wheel of Fate. After a gruelingly long battle, the mercs outsmart Merasmus when Sniper shoots a well-aimed arrow at the wizard's head, stunning him in the process.

Merasmus takes revenge by teleporting them to a twisted world where Lady Emeraldblade and her friends are forced to participate in several mini games involving bumper cars. Thought the sorcerer rigs them in his favor, she and the mercs manage to beat the wizard at his own game, resulting in them being teleported back to the real world.

Upon reuniting with the other mercs that were knocked out of the game, they confront Merasmus and his remaining army of Malfested once more, with Emeraldblad and the Soldier fighting off Merasmus directly. After initially defeating the wizard, Merasmus plays a dirty trick by kidnapping Soldier and leaving through a portal, whilst summoning [[Monoculus to fight off the mercs. Emeraldblade defeats the monster, before she and the rest of the mercs retreat back through the teleport to the bunker.

At the base, Emeraldblade promises the demoralized team that they will find Soldier, whilst citing that they need to find the next minion of Nightmare: the succubus. She takes the Medic and the Demoman to meet Rosalina, who provides them with the information they need by hinting that they need to travel to Hell to find her.

Medic reveals to her that he can get them to Hell by ending a deal he made with the Devil many years earlier, after talking to the King of Hell Lucifer Morningstar, they travel to Hell with the Scout, the Demoman, and the Spy.

In Hell, Emeraldblade directs the team to find the Hazbin Hotel (where Lucifer had instructed him to meet him in), upon find the location, they meet him alongside a female individual named Vaggie and a sinner named Niffty. After a brief introduction as well as learning that Vaggie once worked for a succubus named [[==Verosika Mayday whom Emeraldblade assumes is the "succubus" Rosalina mentioned. Emeraldblade makes a promise with Lucifer and Vaggie, she will find and rescue Lucifer's daughter Charlie Morningstar (who had been kidnapped prior to her arrival), and in exchange the two of them would help her in her quest to stop Nightmare.

For the next few days, Emeraldblade spends time with Vaggie, and the two build a close friendship with each other, a few days before Verosika's planned concert in Pentagram City, Vaggie treats her to a dinner date together. There the two share each others backstories, with Emeraldblade learning that Vaggie isn't a demon, rather a fallen angel.

Upon returning to the hotel, Demoman reveals that Alastor had given him tickets to Verosika's concert. With the tickets obtained, Emeraldblade prepares for the concert with her friends.
