Ah, the Overlord. Glad we weren't around for that mess. No, we have no desire to meddle in the affairs above. As you can see, we stick to our own. We only want what's best for the next generation.
~ Skales.

Skales is a supporting character in LEGO Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu. Starting out as a warrior of the Hypnobrai tribe, he usurped the position of a general from Slithraa and eventually became a high-ranking member of the Serpentine army and Pythor's right-hand man in his quest to awaken the Great Devourer and unleash it on Ninjago. After the Devourer's death and Pythor's disappearance, he became the king of the Serpentine and attempted to wage war against Ninjago himself, before finally turning over a new leaf and leading a peaceful and secluded life.

He is voiced by Ian James Corlett.

Roles[]

He serves as the secondary antagonist of Season 1: Rise of the Snakes, one of the two secondary antagonists (alongside General Kozu) of Season 2: Legacy of the Green Ninja, a supporting character in Season 3: Rebooted, a minor character in Season 4: Tournament of Elements, Season 7: The Hands of Time, Season 11: Secrets of the Forbidden Spinjitzu and Season 15: Crystalized and a cameo character in Season 14: Seabound.

Biography[]

Season 1[]

Skales was a Hypnobrai Warrior imprisoned in a tomb with the rest of his tribe, when the young Lloyd Garmadon stumbled across their prison and accidentally caused the Hypnobrai General, Slithraa, to hypnotise himself, giving the boy control over the entire tribe. Lloyd ordered the snake villains to commit petty crimes, such as stealing candy and building a treehouse for him, much to the protest of Skales. Eventually, the warrior challedged Slithraa for the position of the leader of the tribe, usurped his place by defeating him in a Slither Pit fight and kicked Lloyd out.

When Pythor attempted to unite the Serpentine under his command, Skales assisting him by helping him to cheat in the Slither Pit fight, making the last of the Anacondrai the king. When the Great Devourer was unleashed and seemingly killed Pythor, Skales and the rest of the Serpentine hid from her in the Fangpyre Tomb, with the Hypnobrai blaming the entire incident on Pythor.

Season 2[]

After Garmadon convinced the Serpentine to serve him instead of their generals, Skales, Fangtom, Skalidor and Acidicus plotted to kidnap his son Lloyd to use him as a leverage against the dark lord. This plan failed, and Skales ended up in prison, until he was broken out by the other generals. He eventually overthrew Garmadon by kicking him out of a helicopter during the expedition to the Dark Island and crowned himself king of the snakes. He then attempted to dig through the foundations of Ninjago City to make the city fall through the ground, but instead found a tomb containing the Overlord's Stone Warriors. Reanimated by the Great Devourer's venom, they easily defeated Skales's army and left the Serpentine locked in their tomb.

Season 3[]

Having spent a long time inside the Stone Warrior Tomb, Skales and the rest of the Serpentine eventually decided to abandon their old ways of warmongering and live normal lives. The snake king would eventually get married and have a son. During the Overlord's resurgence, the ninja came to him to search answers about a Serpentine-like stranger working alongside the Overlord's Nindroids, only for the robots to attack the Serpentine's new home, which the ninja helped defend.

Season 4[]

Skales took part in the battle against the Anacondrai Cultists in the Corridor of Elders and was saved by the Destiny's Bounty when it dropped its anchor on the cultist who was about to strike the Hypnobrai general.

Season 11[]

Following Aspheera's release from the pyramid, the ninja once again came to Skales searching for answers. He led them to Acidicus, who told them the supposed story of the Serpentine sorceress and the "treacherous deceiver" who betrayed her.

Season 14[]

Skales was present at the memorial in Nya's honor.

Season 15[]

After the Overlord attacks Ninjago City and some of the Serpentine are infected by his crystals, Skales and the other Serpentine escape. Lloyd finds the Serpentine library abandoned and lives a message for the snakes. Later, Skales and a number of Hypnobrai soldiers are seen coming out of the sewers to aid the Resistance.
