Class 77-B are a group of major characters in the visual novel Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair and supporting characters in the anime series Danganronpa 3: The End of Hope's Peak High School. They are a class of 16 students Hope's Peak Academy and the second half of Class 77th, with their official homeroom teacher initially being Koichi Kizakura before he was later replaced in said role by Chisa Yukizome.

Biography[]

Class 77-B were a class of Hope's Peak Academy that initially had most of the students not care about attending classes before Chisa Yukizome became their homeroom teacher and grew determined to strengthen their relationships by gathering them for class on her first day as the class' assistant homeroom teacher. However, the moment the class truly bonded with one another was when they participated in a gaming match with Chiaki Nanami. After Mikan Tsumiki's disappearance during riots from the school's Reserve Course, the class decided to go find her but had no luck in the process. In the process, they discovered that they're teacher was kidnapped by Junko Enoshima and Mukuro Ikusaba and, while apprehensive at first, were soon convinced by Chiaki to go and rescue her. In the process, Junko forced them to watch a recording of Chiaki's execution after kidnapping her and throwing her into an underground dungeon filled with deadly traps. After Chiaki was successfully executed, the class was converted into Ultimate Despair and, upon graduation, fled to spread despair across the world. This event was called "The Tragedy".

After the class as the Remnants of Despair were captured by the Future Foundation, Makoto Naegi placed them into the Neo World Program to help undo Junko's influence on them. However, one of the captives, Izuru Kamukura, smuggled the AI version of Junko into the program in order to sabotage it. As a result, a killing game occurred in the program. During the final class trial, Makoto along with Kyoko Kirigiri and Byakuya Togami appeared and revealed the class' situation and how it happened in the first place to the survivors. And the 5 remaining students eventually chose to activate the forced shutdown and pick hope over despair, defeating AI Junko and ending the killing school trip once and for all. Afterwards, Makoto, Kyoko and Byakuya left for the Future Foundation and left the survivors back on Jabberwock Island as they attempted to awaken their comatose classmates who had previously died during the killing game.

After the Final Killing Game was shut down by Juzo Sakakura, the class who had now all recovered from their conditions arrive tot he Future Foundation's aid to protect them from the Task Soldiers who had been brainwashed by Ryota Mitarai. After defeating the brainwashed army, they managed to reach Ryota and talk him out his decision to brainwash the entire world into hope in order to eradicate despair. They also convince him to join them in atonement. The former remnants of despair then shoulder the blame for the final killing game before leaving for a peaceful life in Jabberwock Island together.

Trivia[]

  • They are the only class to have been forced into a killing game in the Danganronpa series to have every single student survive.
