Chomper almost got a gig doing stunts for The Little Shop of Horrors but it fell through when his agent demanded too much on the front end. Chomper's not resentful, though. He says it's just part of the business.

The Chomper is one of the main protagonists of the Plants vs. Zombies franchise. He is an anthropomorphic flytrap who takes parts of fighting zombies by eating them.

History[]

Plants vs. Zombies[]

Chomper can be unlocked after the players completed Level 1-7. When planted, he eats a zombie in front of him, then chews it for a while.

Plants vs. Zombies 2[]

Chomper returned in Plants vs. Zombies 2 is a Premium plant. He can be unlocked for $4.99 and was first introduced in Big Wave Beach. In this game, he chews zombies faster than the previous game. When Plant Food is applied, he sucks all zombies in a lane into his mouth, then instantly devours them. He is in Enforce-mint family, a family of melee plants.

Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare series[]

He returned in the Garden Warfare series as one of the playable characters on the Plants' side. His primary weapon is Chomp.

In Battle for Neighborville, he is a playable character of Attack class on the Plants' side.

Plants vs. Zombies Heroes[]

A free buffet? How kind! Don't mind if I do!

In Plants vs. Zombies Heroes, Chomper is a Flytrap Plant of Solar class. He costs 4, with his rarity is Premium - Super Rare, and both of his strength and health are 2. When played, he destroys a zombie with 3 strengths or less.

After the malfunction of the Hero-Tron 5000, a Chomper turned into Chompzilla, one of the Plant Heroes.

Plants vs. Zombies 3[]

Chomper returned in this game as with the female gender. Her abilities and Plant Food Effect remained the same from her previous incarnations. When a taco applies to her, she burrows while chewing.

Variants[]

Hot Rod Chomper[]

The Hot Rod Chomper is the fastest Chomper in Suburbia. Equipped with a heavy duty blower, port-and-polished heads, and a lightweight frame, he can race in on the unsuspecting Zombies.

Hot Rod Chomper is a Super Rare speedster Chomper variant whose Hot Rod Chomp gives him a speed boost after swallowing a zombie. His excessive speed exchanges for 125 health.

Toxic Chomper[]

The Toxic Chomper is, well.... Toxic! He enjoys getting in close to Zombies and damaging them with his toxic aura.

Toxic Chomper is a Rare (Super Rare in Garden Warfare 2) Chomper variant who emits toxic aura and damages enemies with his Toxic Spray.

Fire Chomper[]

The Fire Chomper enjoys chasing the Zombies around, using his intimidating flames to make them flee.

Fire Chomper is Rare Chomper variant who breathes out Flame Spray to ignite enemies close to him.

Power Chomper[]

The Power Chomper studied battle tactics from the Fire Chomper. He charges in on Zombies as well, but instead utilizes an electric spray.

Power Chomper - a Rare Chomper variant - is similar to Fire Chomper, but he deals electric damages with his Electric Spray instead.

Count Chompula[]

Count Chompula is very, very hungry. He's always looking for a Zombie feast. He regains health for every Zombie he swallows.

Count Chompula is a Rare vampiric Chomper whose Vampiric Chomp regains his lost health after swallowing a zombie.

Armor Chomper[]

Every morning, the Armor Chomper dons his suit of armor and prepares for battle. He tries to lube up his joints during respawns so he doesn't sound too creaky.

Armor Chomper is a Super Rare (Rare in Garden Warfare 2) protected Chomper Variant whose health is higher than all other Chompers in exchange for slower speed. He bites enemies with his Metal Chomp.

Chester Chomper[]

Crazy Dave accidentally planted a chunk of cheese in his Zen garden. Next thing he knew, this dangerously cheesy Chomper had sprouted. He’s not sure where the sunglasses and goatee came from, though.

Chester Chomper is a Chester Cheetos-themed Chomper variant who swallows much faster than other Chompers. He also contains Cheetos-themed abilities and can be unlocked through his special pack.

Chomp Thing[]

Chomp Thing might seem kind of gross to you and me. After all, what kind of Plant spews mud and dirt and bugs? Well Chomp Thing doesn't care what you think! He thinks he's the best!

Chomp Thing is a Rare swampy Chomper variant who damages enemies with Swamp Spray and heals himself faster.

Yeti Chomper[]

The Yeti Chomper hails from the frozen north. A frigid, barren tundra full of maple syrup, game developers, hockey pucks and bagged milk.

Yeti Chomper is a Super Rare Chomper variant in Garden Warfare 2 whose Arctic Belch snipes enemies from a medium distance. Like all other Chompers, he can eat and swallow enemies.

Disco Chomper[]

Subtlety is definitely not Disco Chomper's strong suit. His groovy polyester leisure suit is, though!

Disco Chomper is a Legendary Chomper variant who can enter Disco Fever after swallowing five enemies. During that effect, he gains speed and attack boost for a while.

Unicorn Chomper[]

With his mystic horn and toothy grin, the Unicorn Chomper isn't just the rarest of the rare, he's the coolest of the cool. Impress and dazzle friends and enemies alike!

Unicorn Chomper is a Special Chomper who can be unlocked after the player reached rank 313. His primary weapon is the Unicorn Chomp, and his traits are similar to a standard Chomper. However, he can perform two Rainbow Warps, which are identical to the Scientist's warps.

Twilight Chomper[]

From parts unknown, Twilight Chomper darts in and out of the shadows, waiting for his moment to strike. Some say he has an eternal hunger for Zombies, others say he's just shy.

Twilight Chomper is an alternate version of the Unicorn Chomper, as he has higher health than him, moves slower, perform slow but high damages to enemies, and can perform Twilight Warp, which is longer than the latter's warps.

Assistant Manager Bitey[]

Assistant Manager Biter is a delivery Chomper variant who flies with his Dough Toss and shoots Pizza Bites.

Powers and Abilities[]

  • Chomp: Chomper's signature move, as he can bite enemies. He can also eat a zombie from behind, then swallow it.
  • Goop: Chomper spits out his saliva to make enemies move slower.
    • Super Sticky Goop: This goop deals less damage but makes enemies immobile.
    • Cheesy Goop: This goop deals overtime damages to enemies in exchange for a longer cooldown.
    • Chomp Cannon: Chomper charges, then fires an explosive goop that deals massive damages to enemies.
    • Grody Goop: Chomper spits out toxic gas that stuns, damages enemies, and infects the uninfected.
  • Burrow: Chomper tunnels underground, then quickly jumps up and slowly swallows the enemy.
    • Sprint Burrow: This ability makes Chomper moves faster underground in exchange for a shorter lasting effect.

Spikeweeds[]

  • Spikeweed: This Spikeweed damages zombie that trampled on it.
    • Spiky Spikeweed: This Spikeweed is weaker but highly damaging.
    • Chesterweed This Chester-themed Spikeweed deals more damages, with ensnared enemies get swallowed faster.
    • Vampweed: This Spikeweed does not damage enemies but heals the Chomper instead.

Weakness[]

While Chomper is chewing a zombie, he becomes exposed to another zombie close to him. This effect does not happen to his Heroes incarnation.

Plants vs. Zombies comics[]

Chomper appeared in the comics as one of the plants who support Nate Timeley and Patrice Blazing fighting zombies.

Diary of a Minecraft Zombie[]

He was mentioned in Bullies and Buddies by Zack, as the zombies were eaten by plants (referring to him).

  • Chomper's Suburban Almanac Entry mentioned Little Shop of Horror, a film in 1986.
    • His appearance is similar to Audrey II from the before-mentioned film, and possibly Piranha Plant from Super Mario Bros franchise.
  • He is one of the few plants who eat zombies, the other being Toadstool, Snap Pea, Three-Headed Chomper, and Chompzilla.

Specific to his variants[]

  • Count Chompula, alongside Vampire Sunflower, and Vampweed, are the only plants that are vampires.
