Alma Paola Guerrero is the overarching protagonist of the 2023 Philippine action drama series Black Rider.
She is the mother of Elias Guerrero from her former lover, Edgardo Magallanes, the leader of Golden Scorpion turning out to be their greatest enemy for being responsible in bringing their tragedy in life with Edgardo’s son Calvin Magallanes. She was once a respected citizen in their hometown Palangga but later residents hated her after they learn about her connection with Edgardo Magallanes.
She is played by Rio Locsin and Eloira Españo in her younger years.

Past[]
Originated in the islands of Cebu, and born from a poor family living with her father and elder brother Jojo who was called to be the black sheep of the family due to his laziness and abusive behavior. One night while working in a small restaurant, he met Edgardo Magallanes, son of a crime lord in Manila, and the two fell in love each other forming a relationship for a short time. Edgardo had faked his death as his way to abandon her and continue his criminal career. Unknown to him, that she got impregnated by their soon to be son Elias.
As she gives birth to Elias, she raised him as a single mother in Cebu, and later in Manila as they migrate for her father’s treatment. Eventually they moved in a peaceful neighborhood in Palangga after her father’s death thanks to her elder brother’s abusive and drinking habits.
Motherhood to Elias Guerrero as Black Rider[]
Years later, she raised Elias in Palangga, Camanava and became the mother-in-law of Bernice after Elias got married and had a daughter named Andrea. One night, tragedy came where Guerrero family are murdered in Palangga caused by Calvin Magallanes and his friends after Elias has been involved with a road rage in Binondo. She tried giving Elias emotional support for his grief until he suddenly disappeared as Elias trained in Bundok Bangis with Mariano to be a greatest fighter known as Black Rider.
Elias returns and worked in a double life as a vigilante known as Black Rider and delivery driver in an app known as Biyahero. It was initially unknown to her that her son is Black Rider, until Elias confessed that he is Black Rider for learning that he comes home late and injured almost every night. She initially disapproved about Elias plans of avenging his family but later allows him as Elias confessed himself for fighting for his cause.
Reuniting with Edgardo Magallanes[]
One day, she sees Edgardo in the mall and became confused if he was really alive and faked his death. She became doubtful about Edgardo upon seeing him in a mall until she was abducted by Calvin Magallanes for learning Black Rider’s identity as Elias Guerrero. This caused Edgardo to learn that Black Rider his greatest enemy was his lost son, whom he initially spared as Alma pleads him.
Shortly after Calvin and Elias had a duel in a jungle, Golden Scorpion have raided Palangga causing a mass death of residents in the neighborhood. She became a scapegoat for the cause of Palangga’s demise causing the residents hate her. Despite of her neighbors’ hatred some of her loyal neighbors supported her and she is currently under the custody of Mayor Alfonso Buenaventura.

She was always a hardworking individual as she deeply cares her family who were financially struggling causing her to have rifts with her brother who is completely an opposite of her, shown to be lazy, short-tempered and abusive individual.
Overall she is portrayed to be selfless, loving, and caring individual as she shows sympathy everyone she cares the most such as her son Elias Guerrero as it was mostly shown throughout the series. With her maternal instincts it is shown that she is also worried about his son’s life risking missions in eliminating the Golden Scorpion but despite of her fear she allowed him to continue his fight as Black Rider as Elias notes that this is his way to avenge their family and friends’ demise.
