Main article: Episode 1102 - 20 Chefs Compete Part 2

When the chefs arrived in Los Angeles, Ramsay surprisingly told them to meet him in Las Vegas. Arrived there, they were greeted by showgirls, got on a double-decker bus for a tour of the city, and eventually got tricked in believing they would go on a Las Vegas 4D experience. However, they arrived in front of a live audience, where Ramsay was waiting for them. When he introduced himself at the microphone, Jon said he was there to bring it.

During the Signature Dish Challenge, Jon was the sixth person from the blue team to have his dish judged by Ramsay, and went up against Amanda. He made scallops and foie gras with truffles, and Ramsay said that he managed to nail it. He tied the round with Amanda.

The blue team eventually lost the challenge 4-5, and they were punished with an eight-hour school bus ride from Las Vegas to Hell's Kitchen, in the desert, without air conditioning. During the punishment, Jon was annoyed by Sebastian's constant talking. When the bus stopped in the middle of the freeway, Jon said that anything could happen when somebody would hang in the desert with someone for a very long time.

The next day, during prep, the men were really focused and working as a team.[1] During dinner service, Jon was on the appetizer station with Sebastian. After the latter was kicked out, he managed the station by himself, and he succeeded to send the appetizers to the dining room, along with Zach. Later, when Ramsay was berating Michael and Barret for their mistakes, he called it perfect fucking timing when Sebastian came back after being kicked out. Later, when Dan brought the chicken garnish to the pass, he still needed time for his risotto to be ready. However, his risotto was overcooked, and he became the fifth person from the blue team to be kicked out of the kitchen, along with Dan. The blue team lost the service, and they were asked to nominate two people.

He was not nominated for elimination.[2]

The next morning, some soldiers from the US army came in Hell's Kitchen, went to the dorms, and gave a very brutal wake-up call to the chefs by screaming and yelling to get up. When the teams were challenged to climb up the wall, Jon managed to get some lobsters into his team's bucket, and motivated Anthony after the latter sprained his ankle. The blue team managed to get 37 lobsters in their bucket, compared to the red team's 31, but did not win anything as that was only the first part of the challenge. While going back to the dorms, he was carrying Anthony, along with Michael, who could not walk on two legs.

During the Lobster Cleaning Challenge, Jon was paired with Jeremy. Together, they only scored one point and expressed dismay when Jeremy was struggling to take the meat out of the lobster and start over. The blue team lost the challenge 8-11 because of them, and they were punished by taking a delivery of thousands of pounds of halibut and branzino, prepping them for the next service, and eating fish head soup for lunch.

During dinner service, Jon was on the meat station with Ray. When Christian sent overcooked scallops, he acknowledged it was not a good start for the blue team, even deeming it embarrassing. Later, he took the fish station over for Christian, delivered perfect scallops, and food finally came out of the kitchen. After that, he and Ray were confident that the lamb was beautiful, even though Ramsay schooled them for lagging behind, and then, he sent his lamb to the pass. However, it was dry, and Ramsay berated the blue team because the customers had to wait over an hour and a half for dry lamb. He was furious at himself, even stating he wanted to punch himself in the dick, and Ramsay kicked the entire blue team out of the kitchen. Back in the dorms, he told his teammates they had to figure out what went wrong.

Both teams were named joint-losers, and they were asked to nominate two people each for elimination. During deliberation, Jon agreed with Michael and considered Jeremy, adding that he was always the last one to be ready and that Anthony was faster than him on one foot.

Jon was not nominated for elimination, and when Jeremy was ordered to stay after everybody was dismissed, he was scared about him to be eliminated as they could not afford to lose somebody else.[3]

Episode 4[]

Main article: Episode 1104 - 17 Chefs Compete

When Jeremy came back to the dorms to reveal what Ramsay said to him, Jon acknowledged that was the progress the entire team was looking from him.

The next morning, all the chefs went outside for the next challenge and saw Ramsay, dressed in a running suit, and a lot of runners waiting in front of a start/finish line. He introduced the HK3K Service Challenge, and when Dan finished the race, Jon was confident that the blue team could not lose the challenge as they started way ahead of the red team. He became the vocal leader of the blue team, asking Jeremy for a time on smoothies, and Zach if he was kidding after cooking the entire supply of salmon. When the team moved on to entrées, he acknowledged that they needed to win the challenge.

The blue team eventually lost the challenge, and they were punished by cleaning the HK3K course, including erasing the paint, breaking down the checkpoints, picking the trash, and finally, prepping both kitchens ahead of the next service. During the punishment, Jon told his mom he was on a chain gang, and that shit sucked.

The next day, during prep, Jon declared that Dan was lost and confused already, while reminding him that service has not started yet. During dinner service, Jon was on the fish station with Anthony. At one point, he congratulated Ray for bouncing back, and motivated the team. Two and a half hours into service, he acknowledged that everybody bounced back after completing service, and were deserving a big "hooray" for that. The blue team won the service for finally showing some progress.[4]

Episode 5[]

During the Protein Identification Challenge, Jon was paired with Michael, and they were the first and last pair to compete for the blue team. He told that both of them were the dynamic duo, and that there was no way they could lose. On their first turn, they landed on the turkey meatballs, and after picking lamb, venison, veal, pork, buffalo, rabbit, goat, and kangaroo, they finally chose turkey on their ninth attempt, with him being disappointed as he felt he let his team down. On their second turn, they landed on swordfish & chips, with him acknowledging it was an opportunity to redeem himself, and wishing they could get it right in one or two attempts. After guessing cod and sturgeon, they correctly guessed swordfish on their third attempt. After Ja'Nel and Jacqueline got their right protein on their first attempt, he was scared as he thought they would win the challenge in less time it took him and Michael on their first turn. But, on Jessica and Nedra's turn, he started to regain his confidence by comparing those two to himself and Michael on their first turn.

The blue team eventually lost the challenge 10:33-6:37, and they were punished by taking deliveries of wheat flour, grinding it, and making bread from scratch. During the punishment, Jon declared it was fucking bullshit, and later, when Jeremy collapsed, he felt like a dick as he knew he was one of the biggest reasons of the blue team's loss, before adding that it would kill him if Jeremy would die right there.

The next morning, when the phone in the dorms rang, Jon answered, and Ramsay ordered him to get both teams to the dining room immediately. During breakfast service, he was at the pancake station. After the first ticket was called, he and Michael gave a little pep talk to the team by saying they should not rush, and later, he was dismayed when Jeremy brought a sample plate to the pass, saying that he should have noticed that plate was really old, and he asked him to get a rubber spatula at the back. Later, his pancakes were accepted, while he declared that was a piece of cake. The blue team won the service as they served all their tickets before the red team, and celebrated by hugging each other.[5]

Episode 6[]

During the prep break, Jon declared that he liked the blue team at the moment, after Jeremy's elimination, and later, during the argument between Nedra and Zach, he declared that it was fun to fuck with the red team as he felt they were cracking.

During dinner service, Jon was at the dessert station. He was not seen at all, but after a lot of mistakes, the blue team was kicked out of the kitchen. Both teams were named joint-losers, and they were asked to nominate two people each.

Episode 7[]

Back in the dorms, Jon urged Dan to back up his talking really fast after the latter was convinced that he would get his jacket back.

The next day, both teams went in the dining room, where Ramsay introduced the Chinese Dish Creation Challenge, along with the Samurai statue that was placed there. When the countdown began, everybody ran to the plate of fortune cookies that was in front of the statue, but when they arrived, it started moving, making everybody flinch and laugh. Then, Sous Chef James brought the blue team's basket of giant fortune cookies that would be carried with chopsticks, and during the first part, Jon was not seen much. During the second part, he was in charge of the stir fry course, and he taught Anthony how to make a chow mein as the latter did not know how. He was the second person from the blue team to have his dish judged, presented his stir fry with noodles and sea scallops, and Yan declared that it was difficult to not overcook it, but it was praised for not being overcooked, and he won the round over Jessica. The blue team won the challenge 4-3, and they were rewarded with a paintball activity. During the reward, he did not care what was it, and he and his teammates decided to target Dan.

During dinner service, Jon was on the appetizer station with Anthony. He was not seen at all, but he succeeded to send the appetizers out at a good pace, along with Anthony. Both teams were named joint-losers, and they were asked to nominate their two weakest chefs each. During deliberation, he considered Barret for his poor performance on fish, which Dan agreed with, and deemed Dan as dead weight despite the latter reminding that everything he sent was perfect.

Jon was not nominated for elimination, and when Ramsay asked why Dan was nominated, he revealed that it was because he was constantly slipping through the cracks.[7]

Episode 8[]

Main article: Episode 1108 - 14 Chefs Compete

Back in the dorms, Jon knew that Dan dodged a bullet because they saved his ass, and moments later, the latter blew his success in his face.

The next morning, both teams went to the dining room, and they were taken outside by Ramsay, who introduced the Farm Animal Challenge. Jon was confident as he spent time on a farm and thought that it would be fun, and during the first part of the challenge, he was not seen herding an animal. During the second part, he was not confident in his dish, and volunteered to drop it. The blue team lost the challenge 2-3, and they were punished by putting together a petting zoo, and making sure that the animals would be comfortable, for the next service.

During the Family Night dinner service, Jon was on the garnish station. When Dan's pizza was burned, he called the latter a monkey wrench in a machine as he was killing him, and told him to slow down and think. After Ray served a cold burger, he told that the latter should get it together, and helped him on the second attempt at the cheeseburger by serving the fries. Later, he double-checked Barret's chicken as the latter was not confident, told him that it would not be accepted, and after a lot of mistakes, the blue team received help from the red team. When raw chicken was delivered for Sous Chef James' pregnant wife, he acknowledged that raw chicken could kill somebody, and declared that he was trusting Mary with his eyes closed as she showed great vocal leadership.

The blue team lost the service by a mile, and they were asked to nominate their two weakest chefs. During deliberation, Jon considered Barret for the raw chicken incident, and Dan for fucking everybody because of the first pizza.

Jon was not nominated for elimination, and while being dismissed, he called it embarrassing to be dominated like they were by the red team and knew that the talking did not mean anything until they were proving themselves.[8]

Episode 9[]

Main article: Episode 1109 - 13 Chefs Compete

Back in the dorms, Jon convinced Barret to bring the shit harder, told that he was moving backwards, and stated that he should come back to the old Barret who began the competition strong.

The next morning, both teams went to the dining room, where Ramsay introduced the Steak Creation Challenge, and during the challenge, Jon was the first person from the blue team to have his dish judged. He presented his porterhouse steak with blackberry, black garlic and lavender sauce, which was cooked perfectly and deemed delicious, and he won the round over Cyndi.

The blue team lost the challenge 3-4, and they were punished by taking a delivery of a giant cut of beef and prepping it for the next service. During the punishment, Jon called losing challenges demoralizing, acknowledged that everybody's nerves were on edge, and during the prep break, he told Barret, Michael, and Ray that they had to work twice as hard as everybody else because they caused the blue team to lose the challenge.

During the Steak Night dinner service, Jon was on the fish station. When Barret forgot to send the salad with the crab cakes, he was dismayed as he needed him to calm down and get the food out, and his first sea bass was accepted. After, he motivated his teammates to keep going, and later, because the meat station was having a lot of problems, he told that Ray and Michael should get their heads out of their asses. The blue team won the service.[9]

Episode 10[]

Main article: Episode 1110 - 12 Chefs Compete

The next day, a picture of Jon as a teenager was shown. During the Quinceañera Planning Challenge, he told Ray to put the pasta in the water as the latter wasn't going to make it, did everything he could to make sure the blue team wins, and told Michael to make sure he has his meat ready as the didn't have enough time left. He cooked the cold appetizer, was the first person from the blue team to have his dish judged, and went up against Ja'Nel. He made ceviche with halibut, lobster, and crab in a nice crispy shell, it was praised for having a lemon taste, and being nicely fried, and he won that round over Ja'Nel. The blue team eventually lost the challenge 2-3, he was pissed that the men lost another challenge despite being so close, and they were punished with decorating the dining room for the Quinceañera under Josette’s instructions.

During the Quinceañera dinner service, Jon was on the appetizer station with Anthony. When Ray tried to help, he said that they did not need the help, but told Ray to walk them up. He and Anthony's strong teamwork got appetizers out at a strong pace, and after completing their orders, they then congratulated each other with him telling Anthony that he loved him. After Zach got in trouble for smaller potatoes, the former asked him if Ramsay hated him, but he responded that he hated everybody.

Both teams were named joint losers, and they were asked to nominate two each. During deliberation, Jon was pretty pissed about the Quinceañera and that the blue team had a great chance to win, but instead, it came crashing down again. He suggested Zach and Barret as they were the ones who got yelled at the most, which Ray agreed with. That pissed Barret off as it meant the points he got in the challenges did not mean anything to the team, but he said that one fuck up means anybody goes up on the chopping block from now on.

He was not nominated for elimination.[10]

Episode 11[]

Main article: Episode 1111 - 10 Chefs Compete

Continuing from the previous episode, Ramsay asked the blue team to rank Zach's performance, and he claimed it was a 3. Back at the dorms, he and Michael tried to make conversation with Zach, but the latter ignored them.

During the Presentation Challenge, Jon questioned if Anthony could even see after the latter lost his glasses. During the cooking, he announced he had a duck breast and leg, but was unimpressed with Ray's presentation, stating that it was not the Party Portions Challenge. He was one of the three chefs from the blue team to make it to the next round, was the first person from the blue team to have his dish judged, and presented his confit leg and pan-seared duck breast. It was praised for a nailed seasoning, and he scored a total of 92 points. Unfortunately, the blue team lost the challenge 257-269, with Ramsay pointing out the sad irony that he had the best dish of the day. He frustratingly berated his team as he was close to having his dish being featured on People’s Magazine, before commenting that it was the third great dish he presented in a row in a losing team and expressed frustration that he was the only person that got it.

The blue team was punished by cleaning the dorms, and during the punishment, Jon found q-tips in the shower. Later, he and Zach were sent out to deliver champagne to the women per Ramsay's request and had to ride on tricycles. He decided to go with it as the weather was nice, and that he was out of the dorms for a bit. When they came to the location, the former could not be salty towards the women as they did a good job, but also felt jealous as it should have been him.

During the Private dinner service, Jon was in charge of the butter-poached spot prawns, and wanted to prove to Ramsay he could lead both a course and his team. However, he felt Ray was being his bumbling self again as the latter was not doing much to help. Despite that, he got his course out. During the second course, he wanted Ray to step it up when the latter did not communicate to the blue team, even accusing him of being on another planet. On the fifth course, he asked Zach where the sauce was, but the latter did not respond.

Both teams were named joint losers, and they were asked to nominate one each. During deliberation, Jon remarked that neither himself, Anthony, nor Michael fucked up on their courses, leaving Ray and Zach as their two choices. However, Zach believed that the only reason he would be nominated was if he was a good chef and not a bad one, but even though he reminded the former that they were basing it off that night, Zach disagreed, leaving him wishing for the latter to get the fuck out.

Jon was not nominated for elimination but admitted that Ray and Zach were very close in the nomination process.[11]

Episode 12[]

Main article: Episode 1112 - 9 Chefs Compete

Back at the dorms, Jon reminded Zach that with only four blue chefs left, they had to be ferocious animals in the kitchen as Anthony wanted them in black jackets.

The next day, at 4:50 AM, the chefs were sound asleep as Sous Chefs Andi and James came into the dorms and woke them up with air horns and pots. While that startled Nedra and Anthony, the chefs were ordered to head downstairs, and Ramsay announced that both teams would create their own menus for that night’s service. When the blue team worked on ideas, Jon had an oyster idea, but got annoyed when were a lot of ideas being thrown around, but Zach was not saying anything. After Zach had an idea, he sarcastically welcomed the former back.

During prep, an annoyed Jon told Zach to get over the fact he had one good idea for their menu as the latter kept telling everybody what to do with his dishes, and the two bickered over scallops. When Ramsay looked over their dishes, the former asked them what theme he wanted to speak to the customers, and he answered Vegas, before sheepishly admitting in the confessional that they did not have that mindset before, but decided to run with it. After their dishes got praised, he was shocked.

During dinner service, Jon was on the appetizer station. When their first order of appetizers was sent out with no problems, he was shocked how easy that was, and asked what the fuck was going on before wondering if they finally figured it out. After a communication breakdown between Anthony and Zach occurred over sauce, he got dismayed as they had a strong start earlier. The blue team lost the service, and they were asked to nominate one person for elimination. During deliberation, he was pissed as it was their menu and their time to shine, before saying there was no excuse. Then, he and Zach asked Michael what happened to him, but while the latter admitted to having a bad service, he argued he had better services. While he reminded Anthony that he was not talking to them, he voted for Michael.

Jon was not nominated for elimination, but when asked by Ramsay on who the weakest chef was, he said Michael for royally fucking them that night. When Zach claimed that the bases were all his, he and Ramsay called bull shit on that claim.[12]

Episode 13[]

Main article: Episode 1113 - 8 Chefs Compete

After Michael's elimination, Jon welcomed Nedra as a new teammate. As the chefs were dismissed, he welcomed Nedra to the bluesers, but she said she was not going to lose as she refused to do punishments.

Before the International Cuisine Challenge, Jon was smitten by the series of models dressed in their respective country’s clothing. He went up against Mary, and they landed on India, exciting him as he cooked a lot of Indian food before, and was confident he could knock it out of the park as their ingredients were revealed to be chickpeas, basmati rice, curry powder, lentils, and masala. He was the first person from the blue team to have his dish judged, and presented his tandoori chicken with honey riata. It was praised for being tender, making Dana Bowen say it immediately screams Indian, and he scored that round over Mary. When Zach was up, he said it was up to the latter to tie.

The blue team eventually lost the challenge 1-3, and Jon was frustrated that the blue team still could not win even with a new teammate. They were punished by taking in wine deliveries, cleaning the stemware, cut limes and lemons, and prep both kitchens for that night’s service. During the punishment, he was not happy to see Nedra not pulling her weight in either the challenge or the punishment, and asked why he was doing all the heavy lifting as he was the only one that scored a point.

During prep, Jon felt Nedra was dragging before service even began, and Ramsay saw she was all over the place, before asking why she was the only one not ready. During dinner service, he was on the fish station. When Nedra served a salty risotto, he got frustrated. After Nedra's station was shown to be messy and disorganized, and she retorted that she did not need any help, he warned her he would take over appetizers if she was not in control. One hour into service, the blue team were still on appetizers, and Ramsay ordered him to redo the scallops as his initial attempt looked boiled. When Zach tried to give him some input, he said he did not need help as he knew what he was doing, only for Jon to send up improperly seared scallops that were mushy. That mistake served to be the reason Ramsay kicked the blue team out of service. With both teams kicked out, Ramsay told Jean-Philippe to shut down both kitchens. Both teams were named joint losers, and they were asked to nominate one each. During deliberation, he reminded Nedra how she fucked them on appetizers.

Jon was not nominated for elimination, and told Ramsay how disorganized Nedra was on appetizers. When Ramsay asked the blue team who was the weakest chef, he and Zach said Nedra.[13]

Episode 14/15[]

Main article: Episode 1115 - 7 Chefs Compete Part 2

Back at the dorms, Jon and Anthony were still downed by the blue team’s poor performance, but when he thought he was turning more into Frankenstein’s monster than being in a fairy tale, Anthony did not get his logic, before coming to the conclusion that he was trying to say that they did not rise up. However, when he added more weird comparisons, this time to Atlas, it confused Anthony even more.

While Jon did not participate in the Touch Challenge, he felt that the blue team had a chance when the score was a two-point tie. Before the Blind Taste Test, while he felt it could be a challenge the three blue chefs could win, he hoped Zach and Anthony, referring to them as idiots, were on their A game. He was the third person from the blue team to compete, and went up against Cyndi. He was able to get cheddar and duck correctly.

The blue team eventually lost the challenge 6-7, and they were punished by punished by participating in delivery day, and prepping both kitchens for the following night’s service. During the punishment, Sous Chef James had the men sweep the flour off the red carpet as Jon was forced to breathe it in due to the wind. When Zach announced the freezers were full, he asked if they were supposed to have that much ice, and Sous Chef James noticed the large amount of ice bags around the kitchen. Taking another look at the invoice, it was revealed Anthony did not pay close attention to the numbers, and Sous Chef James ordered the blue team to look for the exact numbers. That annoyed him, and after putting back the unwanted ice into the truck, he complained that they worked three times harder than they should have. When the red team returned from their reward. Mary showed him the pictures they took, but he asked her to stop rubbing it in his face.

During the King of the Hill Challenge, Jon talked to himself while working on his dish, but while Zach said that he had no problem with that, it was him answering his own questions that made the latter think he was one step away from the looney bin. However, he said that talking to himself was how he processed his mind, and it did work for him. He was the fourth person to have his dish judged, said it was his chance to shine to challenge Ja'Nel and dethrone her, and presented his ahi mahi with citrus quinoa and tropical fruit syrup. Ramsay noted that he made a good start with his scallop dish, and the dish was praised for having a wow factor, having a perfectly cooked fish, and tasting delicious. As a result, he successfully dethroned Ja'Nel, although the latter was annoyed that she lost by a nudge. While he was confident that his dish was the best, he knew there were three other chefs to face off against. After surviving over Mary, he hoped he could survive two more chefs, and later, survived over Zach. On Cyndi's turn, he wanted to see something wrong, which came true when Ramsay felt the sauce was a little too creamy.[14] After Ramsay struggled to make a final decision, he won the challenge, and was shocked to the point Ramsay asked if he needed a medic, but called it cool, nevertheless. He won immunity for the next service, meaning he was safe from elimination and one step closer to a black jacket. After the challenge, Susan was proud of him, but a salty Ja'Nel called him a jerk-o-matic as he beated her out twice.

During prep, while Jon knew he was immuned that night, he did not want to lose anybody else from the blue team as it meant the red team had a bigger advantage in both the challenges and the services, before noticing that Zach was quiet. Zach revealed he was still pissed about his dish not winning earlier that day, but he told the former to chill out, just when Zach went to the dorms for an emotional time out. Without Zach's help, he and Anthony tried to do prep, much to the latter’s frustration as they were doing work for twelve people. Then, he accidentally dropped the bermante he was roasting, and wondered if he was losing his mind, and then, liquid from that started to burn on the flat top which Anthony took notice of, and Cyndi said she smelled something burning. As he tried to put out the smoking, Zach came back to see what was going on and complained that everything was going to shit while he was gone. After, Anthony wondered if he was trying to sabotage them as he was immuned. Before service began, Ramsay reminded him that while he was immuned that night, it did not mean he should have a bad service, and it should be his best service instead.

During dinner service, Jon was on both the appetizer station and the garnish station. As Maria Menounos sat in the blue chef’s table, he was taken aback by her hotness, and while working on her order, he hoped for his team to step it up. However, he sent up a bland risotto, to his embarrassment as Ramsay told him no to do that as he was safe. While he argued that he did not do it on purpose, Zach felt otherwise and asked him not to let him down as Ramsay told him not to cook in the air as his pan was not on the element. Then, he tried to communicate with Anthony, but while hiss risottos were well received, Anthony only cooked one lobster tail despite two being needed. While he claimed that he said two risottos, Anthony claimed he heard one instead as he felt the latter was hanging from a threat. On entrées , he told Zach to get refocused after the latter was slow on meat, or else they would get pulled back, and called the blue team an embarrassment for falling behind at this stage of the competition. After Zach sent up raw Wellingtons, he got dismayed as they could not win, and when Ramsay was forced to use on of Susan's extras, he dismayingly said that the women once again saved them. When Zach got kicked off of meat and tried to ask Ramsay some questions, he begged the former to shut the fuck up as he was pushing his luck.

The blue team lost the service, but because Jon was immuned, he was named the "Best of the Worst" and Ramsay asked him to nominate one person. During deliberation, he frustratingly took Zach to the bedroom with him, and Anthony felt the former could not sell ice to an Eskimo, before feeling that he was smart enough to see bullshit. He asked Zach what the fuck happened as he shut down multiple times, and asked the latter if he had the heart of a lion in the competition. Zach claimed he was, and felt he was getting stronger. Later, he was struggling with his decision and asked Anthony where his heart was. Anthony felt he was in the kitchen and wanted to be in the chaos with him, but he felt the former switched off several times. After, he struggled to decide who he trusted to work with as Zach knew what to do on the line, but Anthony had the attitude to get shit done. After talking to himself to get a straight answer, he knew he had to decide, and trust his instincts.

Jon announced Anthony as his nominee, and after the latter's elimination, he welcomed Ja'Nel as a new teammate. While being dismissed, he said the blue team was now a freight train with no breaks with Ja'Nel on the team, and felt the red team did not think of what just happened.[15]

Episode 16[]

Main article: Episode 1116 - 6 Chefs Compete

While going back to the dorms, Zach and Jon welcomed Ja'Nel to the blue team as she was one of the strongest chefs, and he felt the red team had no idea what they have done as he felt the blue team would be a freight train with no breaks with her. Then, both he and Zach felt they would gel with Ja'Nel, but admitted he almost leaned to keep Anthony as he feared Zach would shut down. Zach disagreed with that, promised him that he was not going to shut down, and felt the red team had no chance of winning anything. In the kitchen, Ja'Nel told him and Zach she was excited to work with them.

During the Relay Challenge, Jon was in the third round, but was dismayed that the oven was not completely hot enough, meaning the lamb was fucked. Then, he accidentally dropped the chicken to the ground after putting out a fire. When Zach came in for the fourth round, he struggled to get the former to listen to him, and hoped Zach heard something before he left. Fortunately, Zach put a chicken in the pan. On the final round, he wanted seven minutes instead of five, but while he was able to get all the blue team’s dishes plated on time, he found out the lamb was raw, and was not happy about it. On the lamb round, he presented the blue team's dish, but it was raw despite having a nicely tasting polenta. After the red team's halibut was criticized, he was excited at the hope the blue team might have it.

The blue team won the challenge 2-0, and they were rewarded with a helicopter tour of Los Angeles, exciting Jon as he never rode in one before, and a visit to the Gillette Ranch to indulge in $20,000 worth of caviar. All that surprised him as he compared it to living life like a Rockstar. During the reward, as they tasted the caviar, all he could see was the money from it.

When the blue team came back from their reward, Jon was happy he missed the punishment after seeing the red team’s work. As both teams began prepping for service, he warned Ja'Nel that the blue team’s biggest problem was shutting down in services, mostly referring to Zach. When Zach made a snide comment about that, he and Ja'Nel exchanged a look that said they had to look out for the former.

During dinner service, Jon was on the fish station. Both he and Ja'Nel were seen pushing appetizers out, but when Zach arguing he was not shutting down after burning the lamb, he knew that the spotlight was more clearer now that there were only three people in the kitchen. When Zach did not respond to Ramsay’s questing for the entrées, he got frustrated as he wanted to shake the former. As service ended, he thanked Ja'Nel for her help. While both teams were named joint winners, they were asked to nominate one person each. During deliberation, he told Ja'Nel that there was no way she was going up based on what he saw that day, before stating that Zach was his obvious choice. While Zach argued that he fought back and saved the day with the chicken he dropped on the floor, he called it ridiculous that he was still being nominated.

Jon was not nominated for elimination, and while being dismissed, he knew it was himself and four women left and said he put everything on the table every day before proclaiming it was time to up the ante.[16]

Back at the dorms, Jon felt he was out of the loop, called himself the rooster among the hens, and said it was not the fantasy most thought of. As the women talked about stuff that did not interest him, he hoped for a pillow fight to break out, before fearing they were going to hold him down one morning and force makeup on him. While he tried to sleep, Mary was too loud when she and Susan talked about getting a Brazilian wax.

The next day, Jon received a video message from his mother and sister, and then, received a visit from them, making him feel a lot of emotions. He told his mother how hard but rewarding his experience has been, and asked how Hayden was, revealing that the latter was his deceased best friend’s son, and wanted to dedicate his performance to him as he went through a lot despite being five years old. After, Ramsay gave the final five their black jackets, to his excitement, and he was the first chef to receive his. As the final five when back to the dorms to change, he said he was wearing his with pride after all the punishments, and said it was all worth it before proclaiming himself as the winner of Hell’s Kitchen.

During the Pressure Cooker Challenge, Jon wanted to get short ribs, but got lamb legs instead, before saying he could make it work. During the cooking, he thought of French rustic, and later, he complained that the steamer Mary was using was in his face, making it hard to see his cutting board, but the latter told him to switch stations, which he did with Sous Chef Andi’s help. After, he discovered his lamb was burning to his dismay, and admitted that he underestimated the pressure cooker, which surprised Cyndi as she felt he was crumbling under pressure. Fortunately, he was able to save the legs from tasting burnt, but the bottom of the pressure cooker was burnt until Sous Chef Andi provided him with another one. He was the second person to have his dish judged, and presented his French rustic styled lamb leg with rutabaga and fingerling potatoes. They were praised for the colors, but criticized for still having toughness to the taste, which he knew would happen. In addition, Nancy Silverton felt there was too much butter for her liking, despite Lesley Barger Suter liking the flavor, but in the end, he scored 10 stars, which he took despite wanting to blow the judges away initially.

Jon lost the challenge to Mary, and was punished to help with Tree People which included digging up holes, slashing brushes and shoveling mulch. In addition, he was also forced to participate in recycling day. During the punishment, he and Ja'Nel worked on the mulching, felt he and Ja'Nel were working together well on the mulch and moving fast, with Jim Hardie giving them a passing grade. While sorting through trash, he said he was getting used to manual labor by now, and when Ja'Nel freaked out over seeing a maggot, he wanted to get through the punishment and get out of his jumpsuit. After, Susan found Nedra’s headwrap from the beginning, although he knew it was not recyclable.

After the punishment was over, the four chefs went back to the dorms to shower, and Jon told the recycling hippies to eat shit. Later that night, the four chefs were all cleaned up and ready for downtime, but Ramsay called the dorms and asked Mary to bring everybody downstairs immediately.[17] There, Ramsay revealed they would be facing off against a team of returning champions, and when Rock appeared, he knew it would be tough as the latter was a beast in the kitchen. When Dave wished the black jackets luck as they would need it, he challenged the former. When discussing their menu items, Susan suggested sliders, but he reminded her what they were up against, and they were on another fucking level.

The next day, the black jackets were up as Jon knew they had to be on their A-game that night if they were going up against champions, and said there was no room for mistakes. During prep, he wanted to get the duck legs ready for the confit as they took 4 hours in the oven, but Susan doubted that the confit would be ready on time. When the confit was not cooking fast enough, he knew they could only wait as Mary realized they had to take the confit off their dish. After their duck dish was criticized, he was not sure they could beat the champions if they could not get one dish made properly. However, they got their second attempt accepted, to his relief.

During dinner service, Jon was on the fish station. He wanted to be the best as there was no room for error and wanted to work by himself before telling Mary off for trying to help him. However, Ramsay told him to let Mary work on two pans with him, but he wanted to separate from the rest before sending up perfectly cooked scallops that Ramsay gave Mary credit for, to his annoyance. When Mary admitted to talking a lot, he responded with no shit. Later, Ramsay told Susan to let him know she was working capellini and when to drop his scallops. While Susan claimed the capellini could take four minutes, Ramsay reminded her that it takes two minutes, making him irritated by the former’s inconsistency. When he dropped his scallops, Susan asked for three minutes, but he refused to let her force him to hold off. Later, he was seen getting entrées out and wanted to win.

The black jackets lost the service as they had a 93% approval rating compared to the champion's 95%, and they were asked to nominate two people for elimination. During deliberation, Jon was dismayed that they lost by two points but added that there were people that should not be around anymore before considering Susan for the capellini incident. Then, he secretly wanted Ja'Nel and Cyndi go home as they were his biggest competition.

He was not nominated for elimination.[18]

The next day, Ramsay showed the final five a covered dome and asked them to guess what was under there, with Jon believing it was pork shanks. During the 10 Portions Gourmet Burger Challenge, he called a big deal as if nobody knew how to make a great burger, then what the fuck they were doing running a pub in Ramsay’s name. When Jean-Philippe's friends came in, he was shocked over the number of them and called it the most intense panel of judges they had. During the cooking, he decided to honor Caesars Palace by making a Roman burger, but could not find buns big enough for his buns. He struggled to get his last burger cooked as Ramsay warned him he was losing face time but got it out on time. He talked about his dish in context to the story, knowing he did not have a lot of time to talk.

Jon won the challenge after receiving 40% of the votes, and while he was shocked he won hands down, he told Caesars Palace he was coming with the Roman burger. He was rewarded with a spa day at the detox Day Spa, and Ramsay allowed him to pick somebody to come with him. After the women pleaded for him to pick one of them, he picked Cyndi to come with him, which she called awesome. As the two went back to the dorms, he felt Cyndi was one of the guys, and there was no way he wanted any girly attitude around, as well as Ja'Nel being on every reward so far. During the reward, he said it was his first spa experience, before wondering what Jean-Philippe did in his spare time. As they received massages, he felt he had a knot developed from where Ramsay yelling at him, and Cyndi took notice of his facial movements and noises. After, he and Cyndi celebrated not being at Hell’s Kitchen doing the punishment.

Before service began, Ramsay had a look at Jon’s clean fingernails while claiming he was relaxed. During dinner service, he was on the meat station. At one point, he got annoyed at Ja'Nel's poor performance on appetizers, and when Mary sent up poor sliders, he wanted her to to be with him unless service was fucked up. When Mary's Dover sole came out poor, he feared her being behind was going to fuck his performance up. After a mistake by Susan forced Ramsay and Sous Chef Andi to leave the kitchen temporarily, he felt they were fucked thanks to the former. After service, Ramsay asked the final five to name two people for elimination.

Jon was not nominated for elimination, and when being dismissed, he called the women cutthroat.[19]

Episode 20[]

The next day, Jon was paired up with Mary on a puzzle challenge, although he felt it was not the real challenge, but was ready for anything. He tried to start with the edge pieces, but with the pieces cut in different shapes, he felt they could be anywhere as he and Mary struggled. Eventually he and Mary completed the puzzle first, but it was not the real challenge as Ramsay announced the Taste It Now Make It Challenge. During the cooking, he used beef and trusted his gut instinct, before using butternut squash and celery root as well. During the judging, he wanted something from Ramsay when the latter gave him no feedback. He lost the challenge as his protein was not the correct one, which was venison.

Jon was punished by participating in moving day, which included moving all the unneeded mattresses and furniture out of the dorms and into the truck. During the punishment, he refused to touch things with his bare hands, and after finding an egg salad sandwich on the ground, he called the dorms horrendous. As the three moved the mattresses down to the truck, he sarcastically commented how nice it was to have two physically weak women not know what they were doing, before deciding to carry the remainder himself. After the punishment, he wanted to lay down and relax, but a phone call ordering the three chefs to go down and prep cancelled that plan.

During prep, Jon complained about having a headache. During dinner service, he was on the fish station. As service began, Ramsay started the final four off, and he called it an important night before hoping for Cyndi to get them off to a great start. Near the end of Ja'Nel's turn, he was surprised by her strong performance. He was the third chef to run the pass and Ramsay reminded him to run the kitchen and not let them run him. However, he read out an incorrect order Jean-Philippe gave him as it called for a Wellington without pork on it, which Cyndi knew could not be done as the prosciutto was already wrapped in before service began, and sarcastically asked if he wanted them to crack one open and take out the prosciutto. After telling off Jean-Philippe, Ramsay reminded him to read the ticket in his head before calling it out. Then, a communication breakdown occurred as nobody knew what was going on due to his lack of vocalness on the pass, and Mary knew they needed a leader. That resulted in Ja'Nel serving raw lamb, Mary serving burnt garnishes, and Ramsay berated him for letting that happen. So, he told the two women their mistakes, and refused to let the team run him, but when Ja'Nel did not speak to him on the refire, an irate Ramsay gather everybody and told them to count down in sync. After, Ja'Nel’s refire was accepted, and then, Sous Chef Andi sent up butterfish instead of scallops. Despite feeling he had the kitchen running, he began plating without noticing the mistake until Ramsay pointed it out. That dismayed him as he should had felt the touch of it. During Mary's turn, he felt it was an appropriate time for the former to use her squeaky voice. Then, Mary rejected his scallops for looking burnt and feeling rubbery, but he got his refire accepted.

After service, Ramsay asked the final four to come up with a plea on why they deserved to be in the final two. During deliberation, Cyndi and Jon admitted how hard that night was, and he accused Ja'Nel of fucking him on the raw lamb, and that it reevaluated his opinion of her as a strong chef.

When the final four came downstairs, Ramsay asked them why they deserved to be in the final two, and Jon said he wanted to push forward. After Cyndi's elimination, Mary was named the first finalist, but before either him or Ja'Nel was named the second finalist, the episode ended in a cliffhanger.[20]

Continuing from the previous episode, both Jon and Ja'Nel waited in anticipation for Ramsay’s announcement, but in the end, Ja'Nel was named the second finalist, and he was eliminated. Before leaving, Ramsay told him he was leaving as the lone shining star of the blue team that year, told him to keep in touch, and allowed him to keep his jacket. During his exit interview, he received a retrospective montage of his time on the show, he was disappointed about not being in the final two and felt even he didn't survive the curse of the blue team. Ramsay gave no comment on his elimination, and he did not receive the portrait burning sequence.

Jon was one of the 10 chefs that returned for the final dinner service. He was Mary's first pick due to never giving up, as his victory in the King of the Hill Challenge showed. He was followed by Anthony, Nedra, Michael, and Dan. Back at the dorms, he told Mary how Dan would ignore everybody’s input, but the latter rudely told him to suck it.[21]

During prep, Jon grew frustrated when Dan moved slowly on the compound butter, even asking how the latter could be making it look so complicated, before deciding to take over. However, Dan told him to suck it, and Mary warned him she would not hesitate to kick people out as she was not babysitting anyone. During dinner service, he was on the fish station. When Nedra did not respond to Mary's callout, he and Michael told her to pay attention. Later, Mary told him he was doing one order of scallops, but not long after, she asked for two to his confusion until Michael set him straight. However, he had to drag on the second-order as Mary was not clear the first time, and asked her to get her shit together as it was not her first day. Despite that, the order was accepted. After Dan performed poorly on meat, he feared the former could single-handedly cost Mary her victory, although he would not blame her if she ended up hitting Dan in the mouth. Mary eventually lost the finale to Ja'Nel.[22]
