The Caller also known as Officer Daniels, is the main antagonist of the 2012 crime drama Compliance based on a strip search phone scam incident that happend in 2004. He is a sadistic finical adviser who in his spare time, calls restaurant employees pretending to be a police officer, and has them abuse employees.

What Makes Him A Hate Sink?[]

• He lies about being a police officer to the employees at the restaurant to accuse Becky of stealing from a customer, and threatens to arrest Becky if they don’t follow his orders.
  • He also lies about having the victim right next to him and that he has an entire surveillance unit that can corporate the victims story.
• He’s extremely rude towards most of the employees, constantly talking down to them whenever he’s questioned.
• He weaponizes the fact Becky’s brother got in trouble with the law against Becky, claiming he’s still in trouble.
• He attempts to turn Sandra against Becky, by telling her that Becky is under investigation for marijuana dealing, and doesn’t allow her to tell Becky so she can’t clear any of it up.
• He forces Sandra to strip search Becky, and take her clothes back to her car, so Becky can’t put them back on.
• When Kevin refuses to sexually assault Becky under his order, he asks a personal question about if Kevin and Becky ever dated, and later on insults Kevin while talking to Sandra.
  • He even briefly suggests that Kevin might also be involved with the marijuana dealing.
• He attempts to scare Becky by saying they’ll look at her criminal record, and mentions that everything is being recorded.
• He forces Sandra’s husband Van to describe Becky’s naked body, make her do jumping jacks, spank her and rape her, with threats he’ll be arrested too if he doesn’t.
• Even though says the entire time he’ll take responsibility for whatever happens, in the end, he walks away from the situation and claims no involvement.
• It’s revealed he’s done this to as many as 70 other restaurants, and ultimately shows no remorse for any of it when he’s arrested.
