Koslow is a supporting character in the Attack on Titan anime/manga series. He was a Marleyan officer of the Army and Theo Magath's right-hand.

What Makes Him a Hate Sink?[]

  • Like most Marleyans and most humans in his world, he is xenophopic towards Eldians, even children.
    • Unlike certain other Marleyan soldiers, such as Magath and the Panzer Unit, who spent much time fighting, sleeping, and eating alongside the Eldian Unit in countless battles, Koslow never stopped viewing the Eldians of the internment zones with contempt and never showed any sympathy for them, despite also having worked for a long time with them. He is still seen being capable of staying civil around the Warriors, and Gabi and Falco are comfortable enough around him to address him, ignore his orders, and not feel scared of him.
  • Although he was technically doing his duty, he still shows zero sympathy for his own comrades serving as suicide troops of the Army's Eldian Unit, when he is ordered by Magath to prepare them to send them on the frontlines to destroy the armored train, and only callously talks down to them, and reminds them of the Marleyan propaganda of Eldian redemption by serving their Motherland in their suicide mission. One soldier appears afraid of Koslow noticing another comrade struggling to stand on his own, thus he worriedly helps him to stand before Koslow can see him.
  • Along with Gabi, he reprimanded and mocked Falco for showing mercy and sympathy to an enemy soldier of the Mid-East Allies and taking him alive as a captive to tend to his wounds. He berated Falco, Udo, and Zofia for not letting the soldier bleed out to death.
    • When the wounded soldier shows hostility and has a xenophobic reaction to Falco saving him, Koslow laughs in amusement.
  • In the manga version, he is the one who tries to silence the Eldian Unit soldiers in the train, celebrating the end of the war and cheering for Gabi as their hero, with Magath telling him to let them have their fun.
    • In the anime version, another higher-ranking superior takes Koslow's role in that moment.
  • He cruelly made an explosion sound to mockingly scare a group of Eldian soldiers who were being taken into a hospital for treatment and suffering from PTSD, making them fall over then cruelly laughing at them. He also berates a traumatized soldier for not walking straight, despite having both legs, although in the anime version he and another comrade begrudgingly help said soldier on his feet.
    • Eren Yeager, who was secretly hidden among these soldiers, noted how while there are Marleyans who are good people, there are others who are awful and just made him angry, specifically thinking of Koslow when he said that.
  • Although he has self-restraint when he needs to, much of his most focusing moments portray him as a spiteful jerk, and his adaptational death at Mikasa's hands is played with neutrality and zero sympathy.
