Barem Bridge, also known as Flamethrower Man, is a major antagonist in the manga series, Chainsaw Man serving as a minor antagonist in the Control Devil arc, the main antagonist of the Chainsaw Man Church arc and a supporting antagonist in the current arc. Having merged with the Flamethrower Devil at some point in the past, Barem became a Hybrid, capable of turning into a flamethrower.
Though initially brainwashed by Makima into battling Pochita with the other Hybrids during the Control Devil arc, it's with his return in the Chainsaw Man Church arc that Barem begins to show his true colours.
What Makes Him Hateable?[]
- Upon his reintroduction in Part 2, he presents himself as a jerkass, intimidating Nobana Higashiyama, sticking his two fingers in the nose of Denji as a joke and and asks him if that means killing Asa will bring back Chainsaw Man.
- Planned with the other weapon hybrids to kill as many people as possible.
- After reuniting with Denji and Fumiko, he outright says that he prefers Chainsaw Man and that he doesn't care about Denji's life, showing his fanaticism.
- He burned Denji and Nayuta's house out of spite, possibly killing Meowy and theirs dogs.
- After being shot, he strangles Nayuta and call out Denji, blaming him for killing Makima, even though he did the right thing by killing her.
- He attempted to kill Nayuta with a gun, before manipulating an angry mob into lynching her by posing as a civilian controlled by Nayuta.
- Due to his actions, Denji was forced to transform back into Chainsaw Man to make the other Hybrids pay, which ended up causing Hirofumi Yoshida and Public Safety to eventually imprison Denji at the Tokyo Devil Detention Center and dismember him.
- He coerced Denji into keeping him safe from Public Safety by seemingly using Nayuta as hostage. However, it's revealed that he murdered Nayuta off-screen by dismembering her, showing her decapitated head to Denji and the others, not only that the sushi Denji was eating were possibly Nayuta parts.
- This ultimately leads to Denji finally snapping and tearing Barem's head from his body, subsequently transforming back into the Chainsaw Devil in the process. Even though it was brutal, it was played for satisfaction for seeing Barem get what he deserves for his crimes in Part 2.
